One look at the cover of the book and most of us would agree that the art work is something very special. It successfully conveys the “magical” story that Wimmer provides.

The prose is a bit more “earth-bound” but it covers adequately how some people need an opportunity to change and achieve their “better self.” 3.5*

Perhaps the holiday period may not have been the best time to go to my kid panel with this story. There may have been "visions of sugarplums" interfering with their ability to focus.

The illustrations in this book are wonderful. A beautiful book to peer over. The writing itself leaves a bit to be desired; however, there is certainly a worthy message to be taken from the text. I will say though, where the story/writing falls flat, the illustrations pick up the slack.

Soft-edged illustrations of vibrant colors and surreal images make the characters of this book burst from the pages. The pictures are a touch reminiscent of Mary GrandPré’s handiwork. The new shop causes curiosity and suspicion in equal measure, aptly displaying the common reactions of a community to strangers and s

This story features a hatter who suddenly appears in a town with his magic hat shop. The people who enter his shop are given a magical hat specifically created to help them become better versions of themselves. For example, one character is given a magic hat that helps him become confident and less shy. However, one day a storm blows the magic hat shop away, along with all of the magical hats and the hatter is nowhere to be found. The people discover that they have the “magic” or power within th ...more

"People said that the hatter never spoke a single word, but he knew how to listen carefully to his customers, until he found the hat that was just right for them."

One day a hat shop appears in the middle of the town square. At first the townspeople are unsure about it and want nothing to do with it, until Timid Tim walks in and comes out changed. He is no longer shy and feels different, more confident. Soon all the people of the town are visiting the hat shop and are happier than they have ever

A cute story with lovely illustration, but I think it could have had a little more to the story. Overall adorable though.
