Peruvian Myths and Legends

Rate this book
The Andean way of life was a constant reminder of the past. This is evident in the Pacarina Cult: The worshipping of places in nature, where the first ancestor of each clan were said to have appeared. Also in the Malquis Cult: A mummy was treated as a live human being.

I liked the idea of this book which I picked up from the airport of Cusco. Unfortunately the execution wasn't it for me. The information was short and really dry. I would've liked it, if the stories were more connected to each other, as if they are in the actual Peruvian myths.

An interesting read from a cultural, anthropological perspective, but it's so poorly written that it doesn't hold one's interests.

I wanted to enjoy this, but it was really dry and written in a way to make the stories uninteresting.
