What an adventure! It’s intense, romantic, page turning fun. Isabella is the type of heroine I love to read, so tough, so capable, so in control. But she can’t control how deep she’s falling for Brady. Swoon! Their scenes are hot.

The suspense is intense in this one. It’s powerful and the end, especially with the bonus short story, is the perfect happy ending.

Kacey Hammell you are amazing. Loved it!

New to me author...
I enjoyed this book so much. Romance-Suspense, in my opinion, is the best EVER! As soon as I started reading this story I was sucked into a world packed full of action, mystery, and smoking hot sex. Police detectives and Private investigators have never worked so well together.

This was an entertaining little book, that kept up a nice pace and contained lots of action. I liked the Paranormal edge added by Brady's special visions. I liked that Isabella was such a strong touch chick, in a profession like law enforcement where she is surrounded by domineering men; she holds her own. Her independence tended to be a bit overdone at times and her determination to remain alone because of her views on love got old after a few pages. However, Brady complimented her nicely and b ...more

Illusions is the first book in The Arms of the Law series by Kacey Hammell, an author I've never read before. It tells the story of Detective Isabella Knowles, a woman who's been through some serious ordeals in her life and as a result is a tough-as-nails, career orientated woman with no love in her life - except for friends and family.

However, when she embarks on a new relationship, she starts to question her decision on the whole no-strings thing. Her new lover makes her feel happier than she

If you are looking for a sexy and suspenseful, action packed story, then Illusions by Kacey Hammell is an excellent read. This story revolves around a tough female detective, Isabella Knowles, who initially appears to be all about work and no play but is keeping a big secret from those closest to her. The story picks up as soon as Brady Jacobs, ex-military man with a special ability, saunters onto the scene and we discover there’s much more to Isabella and Brady’s relationship than meets the eye ...more

I really liked Brady and the paranormal twist that was thrown in with his special ability. I liked that Isabella was tough, and that she fit right into the “man’s world” of a police department, although her tough as nails attitude sometimes grated on my nerves a little bit, as well as all of the guilt she carries at the end of the book.

The book was non-stop action. There was never a time during reading the book that I wanted to skip over paragraphs because of boredom. The book held my attention

Illusions is the first book in The Arms of the Law series by Kacey Hammell. I was drawn into the passion and pain of the main two characters, Isabella – a police detective – and PI Brady.

Isabella has had a rough life, starting with her mothers murder at the hands of an enemy of her cop father. She is determined that love is not for her. Brady has also sworn off love after his fiancé leaves him when he reveals his secret. Perfect match, right? Two gorgeous people who both want no strings?

Ha! No

Illusions is a quick and enjoyable romantic suspense, . Isabella has experienced loss in her life and that has made her shy away from commitment and "happily ever after". What a better to have the best of both worlds, than to have an affair with her best friend. It's supposed to be no strings attached, friend with benefits, right? She quickly find out how wrong she was. Brady figures he has the perfect woman for him, but he has to convince Isabella of that fact. It was refreshing to have the gu ...more

The First Line: "You haven't found anyone have you?" Not even two minutes into the building and already her cousin Alicia was on her case. What did a girl have to do to get a few moments of peace?

So this book was super short, and I loved it for that. Lately Ive been reading 400 page books and 300 pages books. It's nice to get a short and sweet one every once in a while. Ive also been reading alot of romances and they all seem to be so good! Illusions is the story of two cops that fall in love bu

Illusions is a fast paced, enjoyable and hot romantic suspense read. Isabella has experienced some major losses in her life that has made her commitment shy, nor does she believe in the happily ever after scenario. What better way to have it all, than to have an affair with her best friend? It's no strings attached, friends with benefits, right? She quickly finds out how wrong she is.

Well let me start off by saying I scored this novel as part of the Illusions tour. At first I wasn't sure if this was goingto be too "normal" for my taste but I actually really enjoyed it. The story starts out with a hard nosed female police officer. Coming from a family of cops she has had to push twice as hard to prove what a woman can do. Add to that a hunky ex military guy who is also a psychic and this is the start of an excellent romance with enough heat and action to keep the reader enthr ...more

Steamy suspense! 4.5 stars

I really liked this suspenseful novella, ILLUSIONS, by Kacey Hammell, her first story in the Arms of the Law series. If you like a real page turner, fast-paced, action packed and lots of hot romance, then this novella will be perfect for you!

It tells the story of Detective Isabella Knowles, who loves her job at the Precinct Fifteen, loves her independence, knows what she wants! But smart and sexy P.I. Brady Jacobs, will charm his way into her life! Sparks flare all over

I liked it!The first chapter was bit choppy as we got the back story interwoven into the dialogue. I had no idea what was being said or what the point of that first conversation was because we were bouncing around all over the place.

However, once we got past that first chapter and onto the rest of the book, it was GOOD!! There was non-stop action. It was great for my 5 minute breaks. There was real meat (plot/character growth) in each chapter. There were several scenes that just went by too fast

I really enjoyed this story. The main characters, Brady and Bella, had that incredibly sexy chemistry together from the start. As the relationship develops, we start to see that they're both scared, but for completely different reasons. The suspense was well done, and helped move the story along to show the personal growth of both characters. I wish that the story hadn't moved so quickly toward the end, but overall it was a fantastic read and I can't wait for more.

Isabella has had a rough go lately. With her mother being murdered she decides that love is not going to happen to her. She wants nothing to do with it. Then we have Brady who does not want love either as his fiance left after he shared a secret with her. This is a good couple to see together.

The plot is heated and the sex is hot. This is a great start to a new series. I look forward to more reads.

This is the first story I've read by Kacey Hammell, but I have to say, it won't be the last. Illusions is a heart-pounding story that has sexy and suspense all wrapped up together. I either needed a fan to cool off, or was on the edge of my seat for some serious action. I highly recommend this book!

If you are a fan of the television shows, Castle and/or The Mentalist, you should definitely check out Illusions.

Illusions (In the Arms of the Law #1) Kacey Hammell

Am I dreaming if so I don't want to wake up? Can I really believe what I see? What a cliffhanger!

Heartbreak and disappointment often pushes most people into a state of mind where they can lose themselves to avoid dealing with their agony of woes. Perhaps the distraction appears as a demanding career, volunteerism, or an OCD behavior takes the place of the unbearable anguish.

Isabella Knowles has more or less followed into the family business of putting away the scum bags of the city. She's tough and believes that she can be Superwoman, defending the innocent all by herself. She doesn't believe in love—or at least doesn't want to ever be in love. To her, love means pain and loneliness should something happen to dissolve a HEA. And as a cop,

Isabella Knowles is the type of person you want to be friends with. She'll have your back and a very loyal friend. She's tough as nails and won't back down from a battle. A force to be reckoned with, to be sure.

She's been having an on again off again with a local PI, Brady Jacobs. She likes the no strings attached relationship, but he's starting to want more.

Brady isn't just a PI, he's also a seer. He's ability has helped his business and he'll assist the authorities when possible. He wasn't lo
I didn't feel there was much a plot to this story. There was no build up to the climax involving the hostage and not enough detail to make me feel like I was in a cop shop. But I did like the role reversal situations of the heroine and heroine. Bella's lifestyle of only having physical relationships with men is more typical of a male character in romantic suspense, and Brady's more nurturing nature, not to mention his psychic ability seems to be standard in female characters in rom sus. But I fe ...more

This book was great! I liked it right from the start. I read it in one sitting. It is fast paced and suspenseful. There was some unanswered questions about certain events and characters in the book, and the ending was left open for book 2. I also hope there is some sort of prequel or at least some flashbacks in book 2 that answer some of the questions. The sex scenes were the most detailed thing in the book. I wish everything was more detailed and the characters had more depth, but liked the sto ...more

This book has all the non stop heart racing nail biting action all rolled into one! Isabella is one woman that takes her job very seriously. She can handle all aspects of her life except the love part. She wants no part of it. Shes happy with the way things are, she don't believe in it, an knows its just not for her. That's until she meets Brady who is also in the same boat. He's been hurt and doesn't want to go through that heartache again. He's an investigator, with a helpful tool! He also get ...more

For a short read this was a good book. However, the grammar was not. That problem is hard for me to pass over. The suspense was decent, the love scenes extremely hot, the secondary characters were even fairly strong enough to help the storyline. I'm wanting to read the follow up book, but don't know if I can get passed that bad grammar.... ...more
