Terry Kottman is my play therapy idol. I have seen her speak at a 2 day conference, and I love that she puts her personality into her writing. If you are a play therapist, I highly recommend reading this book. Terry and Kristin present the information in a way that is interesting and engaging. Even if you are not an Adlerian therapist, this book is well worth the read, because the skills and concepts in this book can help you better conceptualize and understand your clients. If you’re a play therapist, Partners in Play gives you creative ways to work with your clients and their families. Not only did I read this book, but I have asked my supervisees to also read this book as they pursue full licensure and play therapy certification. From start to finish, I found myself adjusting my practice to utilize the skills I learned from reading this book. Even if you are a seasoned therapist, this is worth reading as it is fairly short and keeps your interest, and is a good refresher if you consistently work with children.
