This book includes valuable information about the dog species for children. It includes the body parts of a dog, various sizes of dogs, the different types of fur, their basic needs, procreation, a dog's behaviors, skills that dogs are good at, and other animals that are closely related to dogs. This book would be beneficial as part of a science unit on animals.

Children will enjoy the illustrations, some of which are printed on lucite paper, however, don't go looking to this book for accuracy. A St. Bernard is shown carrying a barrel on his collar for rescue work(actually, St. Bernards never did this), and the hyena is identified as a canine--when current research shows this unusual animal is actually more closely realated to the cat family.

I read this book as a little kid, and my mom sent it to me from France. It brought back good memories. The book itself is great.
