I read this book simply because I was curious to find out what the Christian perspective of dating was. I have come across many good books on courtship and decidedly prefer that model for many reasons, but I had never read one for dating. So seeing this in a church library I brought it home and skimmed it. Quite frankly, I was appalled. She had one warning: Each lady should draw a line that was not to be crossed so that the woman would not be abused, and that purity, in it's most basic sense, should be saved for marrige. That settled, the author then turned and strongly advised that couples should kiss and cuddle before even getting engaged, just to make sure that they liked eachother. She tried to teach the 3, the 5, and, for the bold, the 10 second flirt. She dolled out instruction on how to attract, by the walk, the eyes, and the pout. She told the secreats to getting a second date, braging that out of the 100+ guys she dated, only 5 didn't ask her out at least a second time. Yikes! We're learning how to find a good husband, and presumably do it the right way, from a woman who was in and out of relationships like most people change socks!?! The line she drew was the bottom line, and she would not rise above it.
After hearing her perspective on how dating should be done,(and finding that perspective put out for any young Christiain lady to find) I am not surprised that Christian culture in this arena does not look much different that the world.

Great book to skim for any single. Written by a Christian woman who was engaged 3 times before marrying in her mid-30's. She gives excellent advice about figuring out what you're looking for, finding what you're looking for, the dating stage, and break-up stage or move forward stage. Heck, it helped me through a break-up both the week after and three months later when I was finally ready to read what she wrote! I highly recommend his book to other single Christian women now as a great "relationships" book! :)
