Mountain Christmas Brides is a wonderful collection of Christmas novellas by a host of Christian fiction authors. Some of the authors were new to me, while others were old favorites. Each brought their unique writing style and creativity to the project, which made it something of an adventure to read. When I began each new novella, it was fun to discover what made this particular story shine brightly among the others in the book. This collection would make a great gift, and Ch

I enjoyed this Christmas collection of novellas. Although I pretty much liked all of the books, there were some I enjoyed more than others. A few of the novellas are connected, with overlapping characters and settings. They did all seem able to stand alone, though, even if they had characters in common.

One of my favorite stories of the collection was A Trusting Heart by Carrie Turansky. I felt sorry for the situation that Annika found herself in and enjoyed watching the way the entire scenario p

I adore reading Christmas books! I think I may have mentioned that a few times this year. I love the time of year and reading books specifically centered around winter and Christmas just makes everything more special. This collection of Christmas novellas is a great way to boost the Christmas spirit. Full of faith, romance, and all things Christmas.

From Wyoming to Washington, you will be swept off your feet as these couples conquer the odds and true love prevails.

"A Trusting Heart" by Carrie Turansky is an excellent twist on the mail order bride plot line. Now most have read the typical story, detailing a man and woman writing each other for marriage and partnership; however, this take has a meddlesome father pulling the strings without anyone being the wiser. Can love blossom from deception? Only God knows the plans He has declares from the beginning, and sometimes He can use others around us to bring this plans to fullfilment. First let’s acknowledge how beautiful the cover of this book is! It really evokes that country holiday feel. I always tend to read more faith based fiction during the holidays and Mountain Christmas Brides is perfect for that. There are nine short romance stories in this book (and isn’t it easier to find time to read short stories during the busy holidays?). Some of the stories are better than others, however I did have a couple of favorites. A Trusting Heart by Carrie Turansky is a sweet story ...more

Thanks to NetGalley and Barbour Publishing I was able to read this book for free and give my honest opinion. I was giving Mountain Christmas Brides it is consisted of 9 historical novella.
1. A Trusting Heart ~~ Carrie Turansky
October 1880 Annika decides she want to be a mail order bride. She doesn't have anywhere to stay. She replies to Charles and goes to Wyoming from Chicago. She arrives and Charles isn't there. It wasn't Charles who was writing to her it was his pa. Chase doesn't want to ma

Mountain Christmas Brides is an historical romance anthology of nine loosely connected Christmas stories. The connection is more of one by place even though a few had connecting characters too. Four involve a logging camp and the other four take place during a blizzard. All are inspiring and faith building novellas, giving Christmas the reflection that it deserves.

They are:
A Trusting Heart by Carrie Turansky
Home for the Holidays by Mildred Colvin

I won a copy of this Novella Collection and am so glad I did. What a perfect way to get in the holiday spirit. This would make a nice gift. Some of the authors were old favorites and others were new to me. Each has their unique writing style and bring something different to the table. I especially loved A Trusting Heart by Carrie Turansky. She brings such life to her characters, has such a way with words, and a twist to this mail order bride story. I loved the Faith and family themes throughout. ...more

Just mentioning the words "Christmas" and "brides" in the same sentence, conjures up endless scenarios for cozy romance. Nine novellas capitalize on this holiday spirit as their stories, while varied, and at times blended, find a way to say "I do" after blizzards and record snowfalls force tender moments and quiet conversations.

Particularly well written are "A Trusting Heart" by Carrie Turansky and "Almost Home" by Susan Page Davis, both authors whose full length novels have been consistently en

There is just something about the Christmas season that makes my romantic heart just a little more lovey dovey. Throw Christmas and new romance together and its a home run. This compilation of novellas has the right amount of new love, romance, drama and climatic points. Every couple was faced with trials and tribulations, but with love and God's guidance they came out stronger in their faith and love for one another.
I enjoy stand-a-lone novels and I enjoy series. I have a tendency to get wrapp

I have only read one of the Novellas so far -- A Trusting Heart by Carrie Turansky. It was such a sweet story! I have always been fascinated by the idea of mail-order brides. This story gives us an idea why a woman might choose this journey, and what that journey might have entailed. Carrie gives readers fun characters, a story with some surprises, and a glimpse at some Swedish Christmas traditions. It was a very nice way to spend a summer evening! Looking forward to reading the other stories -- ...more

This is probably one of my favorite Christmas books I read this year. You have nine different Novellas each with different story lines, unique characters and love. I enjoyed reading each story and felt like I was there going through their journey. I recommend this book to anyone looking for a fun historical fiction book. Be prepared to laugh, smile and cry while reading.

I've always wanted to visit the Rocky Mountains. I live in the Blue Ridge Mountain region with my home being only a 10-minute drive from an entrance to them. Mountains spell enjoyment and instantly remind me of God's wondrous creation. I can't help being filled with wonder at the beauty and knowing that God is indeed an incredible artist! Spanning three states, and leading from the 1880 to 1913, the characters' use a variety of means of transportation....horses, cars and the newly invented railr ...more

Mountain Christmas Brides: Nine Historical Novellas Celebrate Faith & Love in the Rocky Mountains

Nine stories, two time frames. The first 1880 on a ranch in in Wyoming, the second in Washington territory at a logging camp area, the third in 1913 near Denver, Co during one of the worst snowstorms in it's history. They share characters and friends, which I love in this type of book. A mail order bride the groom doesn't know about, a tomboy, camp worker, some wealthy girls, a Parson's daughter to name a few. A delightful mix with tons of depth and characters you feel you know. If you want to c ...more

Quick, Entertaining and full of encouragement and "food" for the soul. Had to periodically remind myself it was a different time, marriage ceremony the day of proposal is unheard of in our modern times. Maybe we look to hard for an envisioned reality and miss what's right in front of us... maybe the simplicity of living each day, sticking through troubles, simple love would give us more moments to live ???

This is a great book to read during this busy time. This historical Christmas romance collection is perfect for quick downtime breaks. Note: The print is extremely small. It would have been better to use normal type size and perhaps had only seven novellas, or make it a larger book. The size of the font could make it a discouraging read.

If you are looking for an easy, light read that is Christian based then this collection of short stories is a good choice for you. The stories begin in 1880's and finish through the early 1900's and they give you great insight into the traditions and customs from this era. The stories build off of each other, adding new characters or taking a supporting character from the previous story and making them the lead in the next one.

It's no secret I love romance novella anthologies. This olio is written by some of my favorite authors who write so well that I will pick up a menu if it had their names on it.

Beginning in the late 1800s and carrying through to the early 1900s, each of these stories celebrates Christmas with a wedding or an engagement in the Rocky Mountains, and one of them brings in a new baby. There are a couple of series included in the collection, so that you get more than one story with some of the same ch

Nine authors have written sweet Christmas stories of romance in the mountains. Each story is tied together by the theme of faith, Christmas spirit, and celebrations in the mountains.

I enjoyed all of these stories, but a few were favorites of mine. And there were a couple that I've read previously, either in another novella collection or a single book. But it was nice to go back and re-read them. This book would be the perfect companion on a cold winter day to curl up with a blanket and get into

A Trusting Heart by Carrie Turansky is the first novella in this collection of nine stories that as the descriptions notes--celebrate faith and love in the Rocky Mountains. This sweet story begins with Annika leaving her twin sister and only relative to travel from Chicago to Wyoming as a mail-order bride. When she arrives in Laramie, surprises greet her. Just where is her husband to be? Will she be able to become a rancher's wife when she is fearful of horses? With a few twists and turns, a gen ...more
