Have you ever had the experience to sit in a tree stand waiting for your next deer to come? Well in the book A Look at Life from a Deer Stand shows you how connected to nature you really are when waiting in the stand. Not only does it give you a few tips, but more importantly teaches lessons about god that you can learn while hunting and living life. This book can be a little slow at times but overall if you are willing to learn the religious and technical aspects of hunting then I would give this book a try. I would rate this book a 4.5 out of 5.

This devotional for Christian whitetail deer hunters helps the reader to revisit their own hunting memories while providing meaningful insight into greater truths for living. A blessing to read with some good lessons for fathers especially.

I read this book during my senior year. I love archery hunting, and it helped me tremendously throughout high school. For those people that do not archery hunt, it consists of a large amount of time for a person to think within a beautiful context.
Steve Chapman beautifully explains the intricate wonders of archery hunting in relation to life, morals, and hope.

Chapman's reflections hit home for me, as I could personally relate to each of the short reflections in relation to my archery hunting experiences.

In a world where people often yearn for speed, right now, and me-me; Chapman offers reflections to enjoy the beauty of nature, whitetail deer, and ourselves.

To encounter God in a tree stand, should be the pinnacle moment and experience of all archery hunters.

Not a bad book, but not great either. It moves rapidly and is easily read. Chapman weaves hunting tales together with spiritual truths/experiences to assist a hunter to see the glory of God. If you read it and find yourself wanting to set it down, skip to the last two chapters. They make it worth getting to the end.

Acceptable for church men's groups, a Father's Day gift, or an outdoors ministry. A church could even give it out to all the hunters before opening day of deer season.

it is amazing what we can learn just from the encounter with a deer's steps.

so true. i hunt, therefore i am marginalized? yeah, that too, but those quiet times in the bush, listening to the occasional crotch-rocket roaring along a trail five miles away...that deer below me, undisturbed by that...though no doubt aware.

A little too much on the religious side for me, but still some interesting bits of perspective and guidance. I liked the imagery and analogy of being out in the woods and hunting; this I found to be an attractive and relaxing scene to hear the author's stories and messages.

This book is not about how to harvest a big buck. But it related life experiences in the deer stand to religious analogy. I recommend it for anyone. its short and easy reading.

This book has to deal with how a man ties hunting into the bible and many interesting hunting stories. His life as a writer, songwriter, pastor, and father all play into the book. This book is my all time favorite book I have read it 3 times now.
