Thank you to The Book Club and LM Bush for the opportunity to read this book in return for an honest review. This is not normally my type of book but I thoroughly enjoyed it and couldn't put it down once I had started it. It does contain a lot of swearing, drugs and violence but suits the story and is written cleverly and in an interesting way that comes together in a cliffhanger of an end. After discussing this book with my husband who grew up on a tough council estate himself that the many sce ...more

If you like violence and swearing then this book will appeal. It tells of Tony, the lad from a tough background and what happens as his life progresses. I would have preferred more depth to his psyche rather than the actions that took place, to find out what made him tick inside his thoughts rather than how he reacted.
I like the short chapters which made it an easy read. Others have likened it to Martina Cole but I am not so sure.
For those who enjoy crime, fighting, and strong characters, this

Absolutely brilliant read, short chapters which may suit some readers better. Such a gritty read..couldn't put the book down!

Lots of violence, swearing and drug taking in there which may not suit all readers.

L M Bush is definitely an author to watch and I look forward to further novels from her!

I was privileged to be given an ARC copy of this book by TBC for an honest review and unfortunately I have been disappointed by it. I originally had great expectations but it became repetitive and the story really did not happen. It related about specific and mostly violent events which were mostly fights and swearing by a young tough kid who had a difficult childhood who grew up to continue in the same vain. Fighting, swearing and unfortunately nothing much more. I was continually waiting for t ...more

I was very kindly sent a copy of this book by The Book Club (TBC) and the author LM Bush in exchange for an honest review.

It was an extremely good read but I wasn't expecting the cliff hanger which sort of ruined it a bit for me as hate cliff hangers. The book should have stated that it is not a standalone I think.

Having finished the book which leaves you with a cliff hanger in the year 1990, I decided to reread the prologue at the beginning of the book which puts us in the year 2014. It has lef

I won a copy of this book with no strings attached but I strive to review all the books I read now. And here goes.

This was an engaging yet sorrowful story. I would love to meet the person this book is based on. I know i never would have made it through my early teens without getting killed by one of the evils in this book. And to find love?

The author writes, or weaves, one heck of a story. The words fill the pages with raw emotion. The action jumps off the page and fills the mind with vivid sce

Thank you to TBC and the publisher who gave me an ARC of this book in exchange for an honest review.

I'll start off by saying that this book is very different to my usual type of read, but I did enjoy it. Although the story is based on true events, I did begin to find some of the plot to be a little unbelievable at times.

It's a very violent tale and a lot of it seemed to be spent with Tony in the middle of one brawl or another, which began to feel a bit repetitive after a while. That being said,

I was asked to read this book and provide an honest, unbiased review on behalf of TBC on Facebook after receiving an ARC copy.
A fascinating story about Tony the main character, growing up in London in the 80's; a strong character with violence, gangs, underworld, romance, loss and loyalty among the main character and his friends. Totally different genre to my usual books, thoroughly enjoyed and has left me waiting in anticipation for the next in the series due to the cliff hanger. Thank you L.M

Very enjoyable all through, pitiable ending

Really enjoyed this book, enjoyed getting to know the characters which I always feel spells out a good author that can captivate the reader, I would have given 5 rating if it wasn't for the ending, not the kind of ending that would make me buy t he next book, very disappointed,

I bought this book cos it had such good reviews, never again, so disappointed, started it thought great, but it soon started to go wrong, the one's who did the reviews must have read a different book, I can't see any reason for awarding 5* I had to award 1* no other choice if I see a follow on book of Tony and co I won't be going near

I really enjoyed this book. I particularly liked Tony, the main character, who is a loveable rogue. Had me gripped from first page until the end. Now I am really looking forward to the next book. Many thanks to the author and TBC for a copy of the book in exchange for an honest review. A well deserved 5 stars.
