Outdated but for structural stuff it's still worth a browse and consideration.

For a book written in 2007, the photos are pretty dated. Some good ideas, raises some good food for thought when planning a basement remodel, but not nearly as useful as it could be. The pictures are all staged "better homes & gardens" type shots, so the rooms look perfect, but don't help all that much to see what it would really be like to live with those rooms in my house. And some of these just don't look like basements, they're lower levels of palaces. There doesn't seem to be a ceiling under 9 feet high in any of these rooms. Got some ideas about how to deal with beams and posts, but not much practical value here.
