Long before the Darkling, there was Quische. And I kid you not, all the girls made the dumb decision to love the dumb silly boy and not the cute psychopath. Pff. Amateurs.
Also I remembered quite vividly that Quische died saving Ichigo in this one... I mean, of course, that would have traumatized me. But I didn't remember that he doesn't stay dead long ! oO

The last volume of the Tokyo Mew Mew series keeps what was good about the previous one: cute characters, cute art, a cute romance, and a decent plotline. The cliffhanger from the previous volume is resolved nicely, in a way that's true to the characters. The only thing that I wasn't wild about was the mock-wedding.

This was an AWESOME ending for the book in the first series of Tokyo Mew Mew! I loved the wedding and the very emotional part at the beginning of the manga. I actually cried over and over; I read this manga about ten times with emotion. This is absolutely more than satisfying to read.

Un final feliz típico de este tipo de mangas pero que aún así consigue engancharte. Tiene unos giros de algunos personajes ya desde el vol anterior y eso siempre es algo que gusta, siempre y cuando estén bien hechos, como es el caso.

Todas las chicas participan en este último vol y una de mis parejas es casi canon, así que no puedo quejarme.

Como punto "negativo", no me gusta demasiado la escena final, ya que parece que la han metido para rellenar, pero aún así está divertida.

Phew this one took me a while to finish and the last part is not a part of the main story.

Overall this series doesn't hold up for me. I did read it when I was like... 9?? And I'll still have fond feeling towards it because of that.
It's way too cheesy and the plot is very thin. I do like the core concept, with the environment etc. it's just underdeveloped. I don't know how they managed to fill 7 volumes (I know why. it's all the kissing and blushing)

Well, that ended exactly how I thought it would...glad I finished the series off, though.

This series is painful. It's definitely meant for a younger age range than I fit into, but it's so flighty and vapid that I feel like I'd endeavor to find other alternatives for any younger readers. The main characters are only around 12-ish but look like they are 16+, hell they act like they are older too. What kind of 12 years old is surrounded by guys (who all look about 18) who are falling head over heels for her? It's kind of weird. The story itself is on the 'meh' side as well, and while it does have some decent moments a lot of it is overshadowed by some of the more simplistic writing elements.

Ichigo is finally out on a date with her crush Aoyama when it is cut short by a strange occurrence: a cat appears and seemingly fuses with her. It doesn't take Ichigo long to notice changes coming over her in which she behaves more and more like a cat. When it is brought to her that this is a byproduct of a DNA experiment gone wrong, she is given a choice: find the others who have also been affected by the experiment and, with their help, fend off aliens who threaten the earth, or remain with cat DNA forever.

Objectively, Tokyo Mew Mew has so many things wrong with it, I could probably tear it to shreds. Subjectively, it's a good example of how a book can be a favourite without needing to be a 5-star read. This was one of my first manga and it has heavily influenced my manga reading for more than 10 years. Even now, while I can see many things that make me want to roll my eyes, I still love it to bits.

I love Ichigo (and strangely, so does almost the entire male cast). I love her quirkiness and upbeat nature. Give her cat genes, a pink outfit and some strawberries on top and you've really got a character that's just perfect for me to love. Unfortunately for the other Mew girls, Ichigo simply steals the show. I would imagine it is more balanced in the anime adaptation, but the other four girls often seem more like Ichigo's backup - they get their odd little chapter and all, but the story would barely differ without them. Nonetheless, there are a handful of lovely friendship scenes, my favourite being where they visit Mint and have a pillow fight.

I think one glance at the cover should already tell you that this manga is cute. And by cute, I mean disgustingly so. It's all pink, hearts, ribbons and cutesy poses. There's no way around saying it, there is just too much of it. And yet, thanks to a big dose of comedy, it's perfectly tolerable. I think any cat lover will have a lot to laugh, even if just for all the cat-ish misfortunes Ichigo constantly finds herself in. The art itself is also adorable - the proportions can look odd in some panels, but otherwise, Mia Ikumi is definitely way up there when it comes to my favourite manga artists. If she had an artbook, I'd buy it, no questions asked. In fact, I've always wished there were one.

Getting back to Ichigo's little harem, as much as I like Ichigo, it never sat quite right with me how many romances she had going on. It's one thing if they're all interested in her, but given that she's supposedly so in love with Aoyama, I thought she wavered quite fast when any of the others paid her any attention. That being said, out of all of Ichigo's love interests, Aoyama is by far my least favourite. The guy is just about as flat as you can get - an absolute oblivious bore. I never understood what Ichigo saw in him. Despite my initial dislike of him, I do confess that their actual romantic scenes together are indeed very cute - in those moments, I could see myself rooting for him. But at the end of the day, I still found the other characters more interesting.

Ryo and Ichigo had a lot more chemistry and I generally wished we could have seen more of him. While I would have definitely preferred him over Aoyama, it is actually Quiche who, for the past 10 years, has been one of the biggest letdowns in my manga reading history. Awkward name and too low-sitting trousers aside, I love Quiche - one of my all-time favourite male characters in manga and will always feel heartbroken over the fact that he and Ichigo weren't meant to be.



Tokyo Mew Mew will forever be a special series to me which, despite my sorrow of Quiche, I always find myself returning to for yet another reread! Some volumes include older short-stories of the author which are also pretty cute in their own right. I also loved the short story about Princess Azumi, the forerunner of Tokyo Mew Mew catgirls!

I received the whole Tokyo Mew Mew series as a gift from my boyfriend for Christmas and boy, was it a dive right back to my childhood! The plot of the main series is pretty interesting, even though it is developed in a very childish way. I get that the main public of this manga is made up by 12 years old girls, or even younger kids, but the authors could have put at least a little more effort into it. The girls' stories and backgrounds are not really that interesting, even the main protagonist's story is pretty shallow and all we know about her is that she is kawaii and that she loves the coolest boy of her school. The other girls are not developed in any way, there is the rich one, Mint, the nerdy one, Lettuce, (and btw who decided that those names were good? Keep the original ones if you are going to translate it in such a stupid way. LETTUCE? Seriously?), the little and funny one, Pudding, and the older and wiser one, Zacro. I have to say that I really liked Ichigo, she is funny, carefree and mostly happy all the time, but I wanted to discover something more about the other characters, which seemed very interesting, but well, I guess they were not that important for the story. The boys were pretty shallow too, even though I think that they had the most entertaining stories and personality. I wanted to know more about Ryo and his relationship with Akasaka-san, why Deep Blue has chosen Masaya and, especially, the most interesting story involving the three Aliens, Kish, Tart and Pie. The first three tankobon are pretty funny, but there is not much story going on, while the last three are action packed and we can finally understand what is really going on. In the end, I decided to give 4 stars to this manga series because the drawings are really good, most of the time, especially if you like girly mangas, and I do. Also, it was to fun to read this manga series now that I'm 24 years old, it took me right back to when I was a child watching the anime with my sister every afternoon after school, and getting literally obsessed with it (my mom bought us dolls, vhs tapes, figurines and all that kind of stuff). Of course it is not as good as Pretty Guardian Sailor Moon (well, nothing is) but is a good manga if you start reading it knowing what to expect: a silly, cheesy love story with some cute girls dressed up as animals.

Auch dieses Cover kann mich durchaus begeistern. Es zeigt auf einem gelblichen Grund wieder den Charakter der Ichigo, welche ein Hochzeitskleid trägt und dem Betrachter frech entgegen blickt. Dabei hat sie auch wieder ihre typischen Katzenohren auf, was vielleicht doch ein bisschen kitschig wirkt, wer aber den Manga kennt, wird es durchaus passend finden.



Eigener Eindruck:

Wie sollte es auch anders sein, entpuppt sich Ichigos große Liebe Aoyama als der Oberbösewicht und wendet sich gegen die Mew Mews. Ganz nach dem Motto alle gegen alle wird dann lustig drauf los gekämpft und man blickt irgendwann nicht mehr durch, wer nun böse ist und wer nicht. Es gibt viele Verletzte, viele Sterben, aber Ichigo wäre ja nicht Ichigo, wenn sie das alles nicht wieder rumreißen würde. Zum Schluß wird noch fröhlich geheiratet - wie alt waren die doch gleich?? 10 oder 12?? - und dann ist Friede, Freude, Eierkuchen.

Ich fand das alles ein bisschen arg überzogen, wahrscheinlich hat die Autorin so viel Dramaideen gehabt, dass sie alle unbedingt auch noch mit einbauen musste. Er opfert sich für sie, sie opfert sich für ihn. Er küsst sie, sie erwacht wieder.... hach ja, wie im Märchen. Fehlerhaft hat die Autorin auch gezeichnet. Mal hat Aoyama Elfenohren, mal hat er keine. Davon abgesehen, dass die Zeichnungen, wie in den anderen Bänden sowieso unter aller Sau sind. Etwas mehr Hingabe beim zeichnen hätte aus dem Manga viel mehr herausholen können. Ich bin im Großen und Ganzen von der Reihe sehr enttäuscht und muss sagen, ich verstehe die Leute nicht, die den Manga loben. Da gibt es wirklich bessere und anspruchsvollere Werke.

Io me lo ricordavo meglio, decisamente meglio. Ho controllato le recensioni altrui perché volevo capire com'è possibile quella caterba di cinque stelle a un prodotto super commerciale sulla stessa base identica di Sailor Moon. I personaggi non hanno alcuna storia di fondo, si basano solo su due info riguardo all'animale che si combina al loro dna; le scene si risolvono tutte nell'immediato, veloci come auto di formula uno, quasi che chi ha disegnato avesse avuto paura di perdere il treno da un momento all'altro; i dialoghi imbarazzanti e le scenette cringe che sinceramente mi hanno fatto vergognare per le autrici, non hanno dato nulla alla storia se non appunto disgusto; i combattimenti mi hanno deluso profondamente, li ho trovati senza capo ne coda proprio come in Sailor Moon (e io amo Sailor Moon); filler dappertutto e colpi di scena che non lo sono per nulla; il threesome poi non mi è piaciuto per nulla, l'ho trovato pesante e poco credibile (come il resto della storia per dire. Lo ripeto questo manga non vale cinque stelle, ne vale una al massimo se siamo di manica larga.

La sola cosa che salvo è l'attenzione per il pianeta e l'inquinamento, ecco da questo punto di vista mi posso dire soddisfatta per il messaggio alla giovanissima categoria a cui è rivolto.

Oh dimenticavo: parliamo del matrimonio dei due dodicenni o del fatto che i morti sono tornati in vita. Ho sputato un polmone e anche qualche imprecazione colorita.

Ce qui est assez "marrant" c'est que j'avais vu la première version de l'animé quand j'étais plus jeune.
Et je n'avais jamais pensé à me procurer les mangas.
Récemment, ils avaient annoncé une réédition, et j'étais vraiment contente, car je savais également qu'une nouvelle version de l'animé allait sortir, et je voulais absolument les lire avant de regarder.
Et je dois dire que c'était une sacré aventure haha.
J'aime ce manga pour le côté nostalgique, et pour les graphismes; et certaines petites autres choses.
Mais ce n'est pas mon manga préféré ! Je lirai par contre la suite, car je ne me souviens même pas avoir "vu" ce nouveau personnage !!!
Aussi, pensée pour l'auteure qui est malheureusement décédée cette année.

What is quite "funny" is that I had seen the first version of the anime when I was younger.
And I had never thought of getting the manga.
Recently, they announced a re-release, and I was really happy, because I also knew that a new version of the anime was coming out, and I absolutely wanted to read them before watching.
And I have to say it was quite an adventure haha.
I like this manga for the nostalgic side, and for the graphics; and some other little things.
But it's not my favorite manga ! On the other hand, I will read the sequel, because I don't even remember having "seen" this new character !!!
Also, a thought for the author who unfortunately passed away this year.

This final volume is probably the best of the series!

It ends beautifully with the revelation of the Blue Knight/Aoyama’s identity, and every character takes part in the final battle in some way.

Unfortunately, I really wish we had seen more of the other heroines, who are once again pushed into the background.

I was surprised by the depth given to some characters like Quiche, as well as by the ecological dimension.

It’s a shame that the love story is so overly central in this saga, as it overshadowed the development of the other heroines.

The final battle and the artwork are quite impressive for a shōjo of this type, which adds a dramatic weight to the ending.

On the other hand… the fact that almost all the main characters are in love with Ichigo is a bit unsettling.

All in all, it was generally disappointing, but this last volume does bring the series to a memorable close.

Blue knight take over masaya body, now his hair is black. Tart, pie & kish fight against inchigo's friends.Blue knight kill inchigo using his power but ryo(cat transformation) save inchigo from blue knight power. Inchigo begin lose her mind n try to stop her friends to fight the guy she love. Is good thing mint slapped inchigo face for wake up call. Inchigo fight against blue knight but kish save inchigo from him but kish wanted to kiss inchigo but inchigo in other hand don't. kish confessed to inchigo that he really love her so much even inchigo now notice it. I want to ship KishXinchigo ♥️🤗 but inchigo's friends wanted inchigo & masaya getting married or pretend to get married or something. I feel like the story is a bit rushed in all sudden but I least have my fav ship in there.

As a whole, this series is super cheesy, which I don’t really mind however things go by so quickly to the point where there really isn’t development between the characters or their relationships. It lacks a lot of charm compared to its predecessor, Sailor Moon. Also wasn’t a fan of Masaya and Ichigo, because Masaya was just so lackluster compared to Kishu but we can’t all have good taste at 12 years old I guess. 😩

All in all, still a cute story and it still gives me a lot of warm, nostalgic feelings to finally finishing the manga series in preparation for the new anime.

this is such a good example of while you can have a good idea for a story, it won’t matter if you don’t write characters that readers can invest in

masaya is like example #1 of the blandest character that was given 90% of the spotlight, so the whole entire story fell flat. i find my favorite childhood stories age well because the characters are compelling, even as children, but this one didn’t make me feel very nostalgic. i wonder if watching the new anime might have some of the old magic again

I even had to read Tokyo mew mew a la mode, because i wanted to know how it goes on. I kinda liked the relationship between kisshu and Ichigo, but i am happy how it turned out.

Ci sono tanti spunti carini su cui si poteva approfondire di più come per esempio la vita di Mark o di Ryan, la vera origine degli aliena o la storia e la famiglia delle singole ragazze, la loro amicizia o la storia d'amore tra Pam e Mina. Invece è tutto sbrigativo e nosense e risulta cringe in certi punti.
