Confessions of a Slightly Neurotic Hitwoman #12

The Hitwoman and the Sacrificial Lamb

Rate this book
Some jobs are more challenging than others.

Take for example, Maggie’s latest assignment: assassinating a heartless, indiscriminate sniper. He deserves to die, but making that happen is tricky, especially considering that a certain red-headed police detective has been assigned to protect him.

And that’s not the only job Maggie has.

She’s struggling to find a way to communicate with her pets and care for her orphaned niece, while searching for information about her sister who disappeared years earlier. An investigation that puts her in harm’s way.

Maggie struggles to do all her jobs, while contending with her nutty family, vague psychic predictions, an unexpected chicken, and a complicated romantic relationship.

Is she up for the challenge? Or will one mistake cost her everything?

Aaarrgghhh! Left me hanging but in the very best way.

This book continues the misadventures of Maggie but it is so much more than Maggie. I have so many favorites. The niece is the reason why Maggie does what she does but in a way, she keeps the whole story together. Katie is the innocent glue. I'm so excited to see her progress...I mean this is a book about a woman trying to keep it together killing bad people but I just want to jump in and help Katie continue recovering...or maybe I just want to be in the same room with Angel. I have a picture of him in my mind and I like it. He's quickly claiming a top spot.

There are so many stories within the story, it might be a good idea to have a guide to follow. So far, the author is doing a good job keeping them fresh but please do read the series...it'll help keep everyone straight.

That being said, I have some questions begging to be answered: where does Patrick run off to all the time, what's the story behind Jack - I want to like him but I don't know enough, will little Dominic be okay soon, what's going to happen with the real estate job (the real estate schooling scene was a gas), and that white hat lady, what's up with her?

Just like a good serial show on TV, stay tuned for the next episode...except this is better, no commercials and better plots. Although, it'd be fun to throw some talking animals in a TV or movie adaptation.

The twelfth book in a series, but the first I have read left a lot to be desired. The writing was good, and the story was funny, but I had no idea what had gone on previously. For example the main character for several chapters looks for some type of resonance so she can hear what animals are saying. But, I couldn’t tell if she was trying to get a skill back or get it for the first time. Only one storyline was wrapped up and the whole thing left off with a cliffhanger. I will either have to start this series from the beginning or give up entirely.

I LOVED this book! It is at times literally laugh out loud funny and at others, poignant. Maggie is tasked with killing a murderer. She has little ethical concerns with this task, but a great many logistical concerns about how to make it happen while the target is being guarded by cops - including her murder mentor.

Unfortunately, for Maggie, this isn't even the most stressful thing she has to deal with in her life. Learning how to be a custodial aunt of her recovering niece, her feuding aunts, juggling multiple jobs, not being able to reach her sort of boyfriend, not being able to hear her animals....the list goes on and on. Once more, the author has brought this together and created an engaging tale that will keep you hooked. This is a must read for fans of the genre. While it is a stand alone novel, you will enjoy it so much more if you have read the prior books.

I Loved this book. I received it as an ARC and I am very lucky to be able to read these books early! Maggie Lee is back with her niece Katie, her aunts, her pets, her murder mentor Patrick and the manny Angel as well as other characters from the previous books. In this book she has to figure out how to find Darlene, how to support herself and care for Katie as well as how to execute a new "hit." She does this in the usual laugh out loud and chaotic fashion that I love so much in these books. Talk about dysfunction! That is her family times 10! I root for her and Patrick's relationship to progress but there are so many barriers to that. I highly recommend this page turner as well as all the books in this series.

I badly needed a laugh & JB Lynn never fails to deliver. The "charge of the animals" had me laughing out loud (especially Godzilla) & I like where she's going with this series. It's a plus that Ms. Whitehat wasn't in this book. Now if she could only do something about Patrick because personally I like Angel better. Again my only issue is that her books end too soon & I'm already waiting for another one!

never ending (no resolution)

Every time I tell myself that I reading just one more of these books will be fine (because I love the characters), I am painfully disappointed. The first 3 or so books were wonderful but now that we’re in double digits, I think the author is just stringing the reader along. There is no real forward momentum for the plot or the characters, it’s just like an endless cycle repeating the same events and problems. Unfortunately, I’d bought the next book at the same time as this one, so I will read that one but after that, I think I’m done.

Brilliant Modus Operandi

While the grammatical errors plus incorrect autocorrects remain, the method of murder is probably the best in the Hitwoman series. The plan involves the whole cast in an organic killing, as in: everything and everyone combine to make the outcome better than the plan for the assassination.
If a reader wants to try just one book in this series, Sacrificial Lamb is the best choice.

Chiken

Maggie caught a chicken. Then someone went all fatal attraction and killed poor DinDin, the chicken. She changed her relationship with Patrick and then realized that was a terrible idea. He will never be able to be present in her life. Never be there when she needs him. But someone else will.

This was an intense story of what is ethically good and bad. I was hoping she would get her ability back because it is so humorous with them. The animals add more to the story whether it’s depth or the plot line. I like the other characters they are cool.

The animals are back.

So glad to "hear" the animals again. Another fun adventure. Would likes fewer tears. Seems like someone is tearing up every other page.

The continuing saga of Maggie. This is why i keep coming back for more. Maggie is the most unexpected person. With each book she learns more about herself and her family while she tries to figure out her future. It seems like her life is always on go go go! There are so many secondary characters in this series but frankly i don't have to much trouble following them all. If they haven't appeared in a while it doesn't take long for me to say...."Oh yeah" with a laugh. Maggie, if you have been reading the books has always been able to speak with her animals. She's lost that ability and is frantically trying to find a way to get it back. Unfortunately nothing seems to be working. I hate that she can't speak to them. After so many books listening to what the animals have to say i find it frustrating as a reader to not be able to hear them anymore. Hoping she can figure out soon but there is no way i can guess how the author is going to come up with a way. That's one of the best things about this series you are always guessing where the author is going. Where the twists will come. It's what i believe keeps the series fresh. None of these books takes days to read so anyone can still book up book one and enjoy the series and get caught up quickly. Exciting and funny and engaging and a quick enjoyable read! Leave ya smiling even when there is a little cliff hanger at the end. You never have to wait to long for the next book.

This is one of my favourite series Maggie is back and more neurotic than ever, if thats even possible. Maggie is trying to juggle even more in her mixed up life than ever let's hope she can pull it off. In The Hitwoman and the Sacrificial Lamb Maggie is still settling into having Katie home and making sure her young niece is getting the best care. Maggie and a certain red haired detective/hitman get closer one minute and further apart the next its a completely mixed up going nowhere relationship but it seems to fit into Maggie's life for now. Then there is Angel the Manny he is trying to get closer to Maggie by getting her to accept his help more and more but Maggie knows she has to keep him at arms reach he can never find out what she really does for a job, he can never know she is a hit woman for his uncle.
So can Maggie do everything she needs to and keep her sanity at the same time? Hopefully :-)

The Hitwoman and the Sacrifical Lamb by J. B. Lynn is the twelfth book in this series. It was a fun and complex read for me. I am a total newbie to this series, so I had so many questions regarding
the characters as the story progressed.
I adored all of the characters. They are distinct personalities with quirks and attitudes that often
made me laugh out loud. The animals were a joy and added so much to Maggie as she bumbled on within her dysfunctional life. I laughed and cheered as Maggie struggled to learn to accept help from others. She grew a lot in this story so I am anxious to see how she handles her next assignment. I will also be getting the previous books in the series so that I am all caught up with this series.
I received an ARC in exchange for an honest review.

FANTASTIC!

JB Lynn's Hitwoman series is always wickedly entertaining & this new book does not disappoint. Poor Maggie & her eccentric family & friends are dysfunctional to the max. But while the characters are awesomely quirky, they are still extremely likable. Her talking pets are downright hilarious. Yet while there are lots of laugh out loud moments, there are also many poignant ones watching poor Maggie having to juggle her responsibilities to her niece Katie as the little girl tries to recoup from her physical & mental traumas, dealing with her mentally imbalanced mother & aunts, searching for her long lost sister, & all while planning her next hit. This is a fantastic read with hopefully many more to come!

Love this Series!
This is a great book; this is the twelfth book in the Confessions of a Slightly Neurotic Hitwoman series by JB Lynn. Maggie is back and still struggling to find a way to communicates with her pets again. She is also trying to juggle taking care of her niece work two jobs and she gets a new assassination job from the mob boss she works for. If you are looking for a great book that will keep you up past your bedtime then you need to read this book and series. This book has it all a little mystery and humor. I can’t wait until the next book in this series comes out.
A Review copy was provided to me in exchange for a fair and honest review. The free book held no determination on my personal review.

I continue to love and be entertained by this series! Maggie continues to be drawn to Patrick (the bad boy) and Angel (dreamy). She is so desperate to speak to her animals again that she allows Armani to convince her to see the Shaman and she ends up going home with another animal! She has a new murder contract and she continues in her search for her sister who is presumed dead. Along the journey are a lot of funny moments. I read this so fast that I’m now left anxiously waiting for the next one!!! Can’t wait!

Maggie is struggling with having Katie home and trying to balance her work, not being able to communicate with the pets, Patrick in and out of her life, and Angel insinuating himself into her life. A job from Delveccio has her and Patrick working together and furthering their personal relationship. A dirty copy that might've had something to do with Darlene's disappearance is lurking around and spying. Loretta has an accident that puts the family in more turmoil and a dead body in the yard creates some unanswered questions as Maggie tries to keep it together.

Okay I love Mags and was happy to see the same characters in this book 12 of the popular series. Maggie is seeking to get her communication skills back and is seeking help from Armani and a Shaman. What she gets is a chicken. Yes, a feathered chicken but you need to get the book to find out the significance. Patrick plays a role as does her mobster boss. It is a funny episode in the life of Maggie and her niece Katie. Give yourself a good laugh, and get this book.

It finally happened.

I can't believe Maggie and Patrick finally got some time alone together and I thought things would maybe improve in there relationship but yet again it couldn't be that easy. It makes me wonder if Maggie's mom is just playing crazy just get some peace in her life from this family. Also, I'm starting feel maybe she should be with Angel and can't wait to where there relationship is going.

JB Lynn hits another one out of the park. I love this series and I love these characters. Maggie is so awesome. I love all the critters. And I love the burgeoning something between Maggie and Katy's manny. Her misadventures are always fun, but with a subtle tug at the heartstrings in every story. This addition to the series doesn't disappoint. I can't wait for the next book!

After 12 Hitwoman books, you think it would get boring. Not JB Lynn! It keeps getting better and I can't get enough. The real estate class had me roaring. And as usual, God kept me thoroughly entertained! I'm loving the relationship Maggie is developing with Angel.
