A very enjoyable romp through the most important British Commanders of WWII, all told in the classic Osprey 64 page format. We get all the important figures portrayed in both Black and White and Colour plates, with a lot of extra important characters showing up as well. I've read several compendiums about British Generals of WWII, so getting the RAF and RN stalwarts is a real boon. All told its a fun package.

At this point, I have to say that what these guys wore were uniforms. Unlike other armies, everyone seems to wear what they should, perhaps with more badges than normal(that's you Montgomery), so you don't seek the bespoke Leather jackets and fancy jodphurs and boots that the Axis affected. It's a lot of pics of guys in tunics with belts. A lot of red tabs. The occasional Clark's Desert boot. So don't expect fireworks. But it all in here with the typical short histories of each bloke, accompanied by B/W pics. There's the Colour section in the middle with great illustrations for painters. And at the end, notes for the colour plates.

A great little report source for a youthful reader. Very informative for how short it is. For the Gamer/Modeller/Military Enthusiast, a real boon- but not that many will use it directly. I don't see Scenarios being improved, but Dioramas might be a great deal. I'll let you guys figure it out. On background, I think this is a good book and a useful resource for further WWII studies.
