Great stuff from J. E. Gurley in which a group of miners discover a lava chamber deep under the Earth. The lava chamber holds host to a whole host of giant creepy-crawlies! we're talking giant spiders, dragonflies, millipedes that liquefy your organs before devouring you!! Add this with a gun-happy security team and what you have is a fast-paced bug thriller that is heaps of fun! Loved it. 4 stars.

Pleasant surprise

There may be spoilers...

This book was a pleasant surprise. I was craving a good monster adventure - found this in my samples and thought, well why not? The book didn't disappoint.

Besides the authors writing style which made the reading for me a continous flow and the fast pace, I especially liked

- the monster scenes were up, close and personal

- the author managed to describe the red shirt scenes so you felt you actually knew the characters

- the book kept itself within it's own

Great book, but....

I would of given this book 5 stars because it really was great. Unfortunately, the editing kept throwing me off the story trying to figure out the missing word or the correct word the author should have used. Mr. Gurley, please re-edit the book with a fine tooth comb and re-issue it. It will make a huge difference in your reviews.

Verkhoen owns the Van Gotts Ngomo Mine where gold is mined in dangerous conditions that have killed several workers, something he will go to any lengths to cover up. He hires a team with an experimental machine which allows safer and deeper digging to see if it can increase profits. When it breaks through into a hidden diamond cavern, the mutant insects that live there are released into the mine, tracking down and killing the workers as they seek an exit...

I very much liked the idea of this one.

Engaging "Lost World" yarn!

I know this general storyline has been done before -- isolated subterranean enclave discovered to have man-killing prehistoric creatures -- but Gurley's treatment of same is well-done, briskly paced and plausible enough to lose yourself inside for four hours or so. Characters are well-developed, not too cliche' and the blending of the deep mine setting and Zulu folklore adds a new twist to a story that has been done before. I'll be on the lookout for more books by JE G

Action packed

Very good book with extremely interesting South African legends. The monsters are just nasty enough and the story more than plausible. I immensely enjoyed this book and have just bought a few more kindle books from this author.

Really good

I loved every minute of this. The giant insects were great. The people were perfect. It does need a lot of editing as there were a lot of words that should not be used. A lot of missing words.

Good Read

Good follow-up to to first book. Hard to put down once I got started. Looking forward to the next in the series.

A SOMEWHAT TYPICAL BUG MONSTER TALE IT IS.

Hello, this book just plain didn't do anything for me. Nothing original and a bit liberal for my tastes. Thanks.

This book has a solid plot and interesting characters. Unfortunately, the suspense and drama are predictable. It does have an interesting premise.
