Invid Invasion
The Invid Regis had succeeded where the Zentraedi and their Robotech Masters had failed. She had driven her warrior horde across the far reaches of space to lay claim to the galaxy's last supply of the Flower of Life and its all-precious offspring, Protoculture.
Earth was conquered, occupied; and it was up to the space-weary veterans of the Expeditionary Force to retake the planet-a world most of them had never seen. Only no one had foreseen the disastrous defeat that would greet the first wave, or the miserable welcome in store for its few and sorry heroes.
But Lieutenant Scott Bernard had survived both, and it was now his mission, as well as his personal pledge, to reach and destroy the Invid hive dubbed Reflex Point. He would soon have a ragtag bond of freedom fighters at his side, but before them were thousands of miles of travel through hostile territory on...The Long Road Ahead!

The Third Robotech War begins!
INVID RULES (LITERALLY!)
Earth won the Second Robtech War, the Robotech Masters were beaten, but it was a too costly victory.
The Flower of Life has bloomed all over the planet and becomes an irresistible beacon for the Invid.
The Invid is a nomad alien race from an unknown world, ruled by the Invid Regis and Invid Regent, but they met The Robotech Masters race (at that moment they were only the Tirolean race), when the Invid had made the planet Optera as their home, soon enough Zor travelled over there and won the trust of the Invid Regis, only to betray her and steal the knowledge of the Flower of Life and to construct the infamous Protoculture Matrix.
While the Invid Regent remained at Tirol Space battling against Admiral Rick Hunter and the REF fleet, the Invid Regis took half of the Invid army and travelled to Earth.
The crippled Army of the Southern Cross didn't have a chance against the Invid Regis and her deadly Invid Shock Troopers and Invid Attack Scouts...
...the Earth fell.
Now, ten years later, under ruling of the Invid Regis, who made Reflex Point, her central headquarters in North America, human population had to learn to live under Invid's control.
It was when the REF sent its Mars Division fleet to liberate Earth from the Invid, however, the mission totally failed and the fleet was destroyed, all hands lost, except...

Scott is the only survivor from the REF failed attempt to liberate Earth from the Invid...
...Scott born in Tirol Space, he never set foot on Earth, until now...
...but the mission remains the same. His call of duty still strong.
Against all odds, Scott is found in South America and begins his journey all the way until reaching Reflex Point. He is Earth's last hope of freedom...
...but his impossible quest won't have to be dealt for he alone.
Soon enough, a ragtag group of heroes met Scott and his larger-than-life mission, and they decide that it's about dang time to kick some Invid's butts!
Rand (a young male scavenger), Rook Bartley (a young female biker), Lance "Lancer" Belmont aka Yellow Dancer (former male REF pilot (of a previous mission) and disguises as a popular feminine singer to fool humans loyal to the Invid), Jim "Lunk" Austin (a former male REF mechanic (of a previous mission)) and Annie LaBelle (a female kid)...
...they are the unlikely heroes, Scott's Heroes, and the only hope to free Earth from the Invid's fist.
With the scarce support of some Veritech Alpha Fighters (transformable jets), a Veritech Beta Fighter (transformable mobile armory connecting with Alphas) and some Veritech Cyclones (transformable motorcycles)...
...this ragtag brigade begins to provoke a guerrilla-style war agains the Invid (and humans' Invid supporters) and their long journey with the goal of reaching Reflex Point.

This is the first installment of my favorite Robotech series. I mean, planes and motorcyles. I loved Annie, I loved Rook. Good strong female characters. Even a transgender person. Intersting.

I love this trilogy. Enjoyed rereading the updated volume. A lot of improvised small unit survival, an interesting apocalyptic landscape and some intriguing characters.

More of the same. The book copies the TV show but far less visually and not that much more descriptively. Still entertaining but if you see the show, there is no reason to read this.

Great series of books for kids that enjoy or are interested in science fiction. I read these books in middle school (I'm now in my 30s) and loved each one. The stories are fun, engaging and relatively fast paced. I'd be tempted to reread them now just for old time's sake if I didn't have so many new books on my to-read list.
I knocked it down a peg because, in retrospect, there are some aspects that are a bit too cheesy. I'm sure when my kids are old enough, they'll get thier own copies.

This starts off the Invid Saga, (as the name suggests) and takes the place of book #17 in the Chronological order. The Invid Saga basically rewrote Genesis Climber Mospeada into the final saga of the original RoboTech series, and is actually rather fun to watch in the RoboTech form (I've yet to hunt down and watch the original anime =( ).
Thankfully the Invid Saga is good enough that it helps us to forget the Southern Cross Saga, and helps to set up the series to draw to a close.

Invid Invasion is the first book from the third war in the Robotach saga as it brings an entire new enemy to Earth, the Invid. This particular installment was and still is my favorite. I enjoyed the characters a lot as it was wonderful to read in greater detail about Scott, Rand, Rook, Lancer, Lunk and Annie. Great action, wonderful characters that will appeal to a great many readers.

I thought I already did a review for this but anyway...
I liked the cross over on this. Like the cross over to southern cross, it did a great job spanning the bridge that was left by combining the three separate series into one originally. Without the constraints of the TV show they are able to do a lot more with the characters.

The world is torn and humanity is enslaved, time for the dusty road heroes. This is not my favorite part of the Robotech saga to much run and hiding for me.

Great SiFi series. Giant battlesuits battling outer space monsters, what more can you ask for. Very recommended
