I have read the 2nd edition of the English version.
Nice book that very clearly articulates the grave impact that English medium has had on India. Also, very clearly illustrates how the state & central govt discriminates against indian languages.
Very good cases studies of various countries like, US, China, Israel, Iran & Japan on how each of them have worked towards using their native to harness the true power of their citizens & connect each of them to their cultural roots.

The book is incomprehensible in many ways. There is a lot of research the author has done however Hindi used is very difficult to understand. I for the most part have skimmed through the pages. Only read in case you want to know the recommendations for making Hindi popular among indian masses. The book talks about the effects of using english. I to be honest found it very dry & uninteresting. There is no humor,no storytelling, its just plain well researched piece of work. ...more
