As the oldest son of Queen Elizabeth II and Prince Philip, King Charles III is the king of the United Kingdom. He ascended to the throne after the death of his mother Queen Elizabeth II on September 8, 2022. He is the oldest person ever to assume the British throne.

Under public scrutiny his entire life, Charles graduated from Trinity College before embarking on a military career which culminated with him commanding the HMS Bronington. He married Diana Spencer in the summer of 1981 to huge media fanfare, though the couple would eventually divorce in 1996 after years of gossip and scandal. Simply a classic. If anyone wants to know why we fish point him at this book. Wonderful prose and finely illustrated by his then wife, Clare. One small thing - I have the second (1997) edition and the cover is execrable.

Beautifully written

Not a "how to" book on carp fishing, more a well written book about one man's obsession on one lake over a six year period pursuing large carp. Loved it.

This is a wonderful evocative beautifully written work that awakes the difficult to define passion for fishing in the days before it became over commercialised. The book honestly made me want to find a rod and go in search of a hidden lake.
