Dominique Stein is beautiful, young, and Jewish. Her sanity is overly dependent on external cues, chameleon-like. She awakens every morning at 5:59:59. She weighs in at exactly 111, her snug palindrome. These are her ''friends.'' They keep her safe. Then, it all explodes. She desperately searches to find her way back inside that cozy bubble of sanity she had constructed. L ...more

This book was a rollercoaster ride from beginning to end. I normally take weeks or even months to finish a book as they don't grab me right off the bat and I don't care too much what happens to the characters as I don't feel a connection to them. However, Dominique was different. She captured me right from the start and I constantly needed to know what will happen to her next! I finished the book in just 4 days! which is a record for me. She is a very relatable character and I'm sure anyone woul ...more

I received a copy of Ransom's Voice Monday morning. By Thursday afternoon I finished it. It was the most suspenseful, thrilling tale of a young woman's transformation in the hands of her "captors' '" professional routine. Every chapter brought unexpected twists, every move Dominique took
presented a different side of her complex character. I teach senior school drama at a local high school. I could not help but think of my senior students. As part of my curriculum; I work on character devel

I finished "Ransom's Voice" this morning. I am not sure I have ever completed reading a novel of its size in such a short time. It was like galloping through some strange house of mirrors on a horse slightly out of control......hanging on for dear life but still able to observe the curiosities flying by at top speed.....I loved the parts that revealed the unfolding of Dominique's madness.....It was completely weird reading as my head started to swim and vertigo started to overcome me. But I cont ...more

Received for review.

I'm honestly wondering if I somehow received a completely different book from everyone else. While the premise was interesting I found the book to be meandering and I still have no idea what happened or what was even real. There were editing issues also which are even more frustrating when dealing with the kind of book that requires closer reading to catch what's going on.

I am normally a romance girl. This was a good book anyway. It was hard to put it down. I plan to read more books by this writer.. I won this book in a giveaway. I am so not good at reviews but trying here. It was well written and earned it's place in to be read again one day.

The characters in this book are extremely well rounded. In fact you probably know many of them amongst your friends and family. A very entertaining read.
If Philip Larkin ever had a good day then this is the novel he would have written.

A superb exploration of sanity's dark corridors, recounted with grace, intelligence and biting irony. This is a book to be savored.
