I’ve read a lot of books and every once in a while you find one that really touches your soul. That’s what this book did to me. When I first picked up this book, I thought it’d be just a sweet love story but it’s more than that. It does have a couple of triggers. It deals with child abuse and prejudice, as well as some extreme emotional issues, but Laura Browing does it with a deft had. She is skilled at making the reader feel, pointing her finger at injustice without making it preachy, even though the male love interest is a preacher. Discovering the male protagonist was a preacher nearly turned me off. So many stories make the preacher the bad guy or so good your teeth hurt. This did neither. He was a good guy, but he was a real person complete with flaws and desires. Ms. Browning’s portrayal of Pastor Joe was so well done, I wanted him to be my pastor. He, in fact reminded me of my favorite minister who unashamedly loved his wife and let his love show in an honest and open fashion I’d never known with other ministers. The twists and turns in the relationship between Tabby and Joe is as complex as the mountain roads that inspired the setting. Add in family drama, church and community jealousy and gossip, and secrets from the past and you have a fantastic series ready to pull you in for another glimpse. I will definitely go back and read the books prior to Lost & Found Love and read any others in this series. Prepare to have your heart broken and put back together.
I couldn't find Book 2. Finally after looking this wonderful author up I found, two more. On to #3. Loving these. Lots of love, tension and good endings.
Ah, the joys of being a preacher in a very small town. And yes, there might have been just a hint of sarcasm in that statement. As the granddaughter of a preacher, I grew up on stories from my mother, aunt, and uncles of the fun of being a PK – and the unrealistic expectations of them and their parents doing God’s work in small towns.
So I definitely had the stories to relate to Joe’s dilemma when he found Tabby to be exactly the woman he wanted in his life. even when Tabby herself tried to stay out of Joe’s life, he wasn’t giving up on them. He’d be a friend if that’s all she wanted – for now. But he was just as determined to convince her to give them a chance.
Tabby’s had a rough life and while she’d hoped for a fresh start, the townspeople, for the most part, weren’t going to let that happen easily. She’s attracted to Joe, but with trouble following her, and more on deck in town – it’s not in Joe’s best interest to get involved with her. But the local preacher has some stubbornness underneath the surface and he’s determined to show her just how good life could be for them both – if she’d just take a chance on them.
Lost & Found Love read so realistic to me – gotta love small towns, everyone knowing your business and the gossips running rampant. Although there were moments when I wanted to sit both Joe and Tabby down and have a serious heart to heart with them, their romance was an emotional journey that touched my heart.
While I don’t think you have to have read the first story in this series, characters from that book do show up here as well. Any series is improved if you’ve followed it from the start, but mostly any references to previous events are lightly explained in this story.
I would have no trouble recommending Lost & Found Love for any Romance reader. It’s a solid story with a believable couple facing small town issues and sorting out their lives. An enjoyable read.
*I received an e-ARC of Lost & Found Love from the publisher, Lyrical Press and NetGalley in exchange for an honest review. That does not change what I think of this novel.*
Some may not like the love at first sight between Tabby and Joe, but it didn’t bother me. I really like how the two seemed to have a special understanding of each other that quickly turns into something more. Tabby definitely has reason to be hesitant to get involved with anyone, but especially a man of the church. Her childhood was absolutely horrible and left scars that ca be seen, but also some that can’t. Coming to Mountain Meadow though may prove to be exactly what she needs. While there are people who are causing her trouble, she may just find the family that she truly needs – one who will love and accept her as she is.
I think that Browning does a good job of depicting a single, young preacher in a small town. The things that the others expect of him – from setting him up with their single relations (or themselves) to what they expect from his wife – are pretty spot on from my experience. Small towns aren’t always Mayberry or Stars Hollow. They usually are full of gossip and with some small-minded people who have no problem causing troubles for others.
Joe gets himself into a little trouble when he lets his emotions take control and rushes things with Tabby. I love the way that he handles the outcome, using his faith and morals as a guide. Once he re-centers he provides a great amount of calm and understanding when it is needed.
Unfortunately this is one of those times when I think that it actually made a difference that I didn’t read anything else in this series. There’s a history amongst Tabby’s family that, while Browning does her best to explain, really needs to have been experienced to truly understand. Don’t get me wrong – I really like this story, even as my first book, and I think you could too. But I also think that I needed that additional info to really get the nuances. If it is anything like this one, with well-developed and interesting characters and fluid writing, I’m putting it on my TBR list right now.

Tabitha “Tabby” MacVie lived with her parents: Thomas “Tommy” MacVie (Tabby’s dad, abusive) & Mary MacVie (mom, nee Owens). Tabby & her sister Jenny Owens attended Mountain Meadows (Virginia) Public schools. Billy Owens (bootlegger) was Mary’s 1st. husband, & Jenny’s dad. Jenny later marries Evan Richardson (attorney) & they have Evan. Tabby (23) later becomes an art teacher. Joseph “Joe” Taylor (32) is the local Baptist Church minister. He soon falls head over heels for Tabby.
Dr. James (principle) & the school board inform Tabby this is not an appropriate behavior for a school teacher. What is Stoner Richardson (former Senator) story? Tommy is always lurking in the shadows. A threat to Tabby.
Lots more family drama to come.

A very awesome book cover, great font & writing style. A very well written romance book. It was very easy for me to read/follow from start/finish & never a dull moment. There were no grammar/typo errors, nor any repetitive or out of line sequence sentences. Lots of exciting scenarios, with several twists/turns & a great set of unique characters to keep track of. This could also make another great romantic movie, or a mini TV series. There is no doubt in my mind this is a very easy rating of 5 stars.

I read the first book in this series and I was glad to see the second one was about the pastor Joe. I wasn't expecting his love interest to be Tabby.. I don't want to give away why I was shocked. Tabby is an artist and the new art teacher at the schools in Mountain Meadow. She's not what anyone was expecting at all. She's too young and too much for the locals. It doesn't help that Pastor Joe has taken a liking to her. She's now an outcast. No one wants her to teach their children. They're saying she's a witch and has cast a spell on him. Joe on the other had feels like he may have found his other half. She's incredible and he wants to spend as much time as he can despite what his parishioners want.
Tabby is only here for one thing. She doesn't want to have any relationships. Her life has been complicated for as long as she can remember. Now that she's finished with school and her mama is gone, this is the last task she has to complete before her life is truly hers. Maybe Mountain Meadow will be a fresh new start and connection for her.
I didn't know if I wanted to read a book about a preacher falling in love. That's not usually my main vein of reading. It was quite enjoyable. I liked Tabby and Joe, separately and together. We got to see most of the characters from the previous book and it wasn't just in passing. Some of them play a huge role in Tabby and Joe's story. All in all this book was a solid 4 stars. Check it out and leave the author love in the form of a review!
