This is an improvement over most of the series thus far. More backstory on Sayo, and some surprisingly dark elements to her character too. I'm disappointed that Benio has nothing to do and has spent most of the series moping around being a tsundere, I would have hoped that her and Yokuro being TWIN starS meant that they could share the spotlight and both be cool but nope Rokuro is the only one who actually gets to do something.
After that last cliffhanger, we get more of an explanation for what is going on with Rokuro. We also get to know what Sayo really is, and what that means for her life that the others don't understand.
This leads to the introduction of a new enemy, who are after Sayo, of course. There's a lot of focus on Sayo in this volume. Rokuro even spends a chapter taking Sayo out in town to see some things. I must admit, though, that I'm not a huge fan of Sayo, as a character. She's just meh for me.
Shimon, Sayo's brother, on the other hand—I'm intrigued by his and Mayura's relationship. They only have a very minor plot point, but I like it.
I do rather enjoy this series, more than I expect each time. This was still an okay volume, though.
A review copy was provided by the publisher, VIZ Media, for an honest review. Thank you so, so much!
This was a much needed improvement over the last volume. More backstory on Sayo made her much more sympathetic as well as further explained her actions, so I'm pretty cool with her right now. It was nice seeing Shimon get on Mayura's ass about her wishy-washy, woe is me attitude about herself. The new Basaras aka villains are pretty uninteresting and the one that sticks his tongue out all the time ANNOYS THE EVER-LOVING FUCK OUT OF ME. I cannot WAIT for him to go down I can't stand him, though I will admit that his desire to draw out negative emotions does fit his role as a Kegare to a tee. The fight scenes were pretty bad-ass and it was interesting learning Arima's thoughts on how to fight the Kegare and Rokuro's. Honestly, both have good points and are right in their respective ways, but I'm definitely on Rokuro's side. Looking forward to the start of the fight, especially with Mayura joining the squad!
Another great volume with lots of action. Roku and Benio both go through their trials to see if they are ready for the island. Meanwhile, two super-duper Kegare have come to capture the little girl, taking power from every exorcist they kill. She is kidnapped and used as a lure for her brother and the Twin Exorcists. Character-wise we learn more about Sayo, the little girl.
Also what the heck happened a few volumes ago when those characters died and now they're back alive? I'm so confused now. And what was that cliffhanger about the super powerful one still being alive!? I thought they were Roku's spirit guardian.. 6th volume of the day, must be getting confused XD
Mayura has the biggest boobs of the main female characters so far, but it seems the art focuses a bit more on her thighs. Which is a good decision, too.
