I was asked to read the 2nd book of this series and give a review. Well being the serial junkie that I am..... I decided to read this one first. It's got a good basis for a SciFi-Romance story but I found it boring, dull & blah. If you're looking for a good sexy romance this isn't it. No sex nuthing nada! If you're looking for decisive strong Hero Adarr & heroine Lana. Nope nada. In fact Lana is kinda whiny and has extremely low self esteem and all the conversations with Adaar and her seem to be him asking for her trust continuously and him giving her self-image boosts. Take out the few curse words, drop their ages and this would be a YA. I gave it 2 stars because I think the potential is there......... So it was just ok for me. I'm sorry to say I will not be reviewing the second book.

Pretty good, despite wanting to punch the heroine at some points for doing stupid impulsive things then being a jerk when she gets called out. Unfortunately there was 0.0% smut, which has been in most all the other books I've read from the author.

I gave up trying to like the heroine. She is naïve, brash, and hormonal as a teenager.

Here's the thing: if this had been what I was looking for story-wise, and had been through a decent editing process, it probably would have been a 3 or 4 star read. Pirates in space? What's not to like?

But I was looking for what was described on the tin, (i.e. sexy alpha alien romance) and this absolutely didn't deliver. I hesitate to even shelve it as sci-fi romance since that element was so lacking. More of a inkling of a romance than an actual one. The entire subheading should be scrapped as false advertising. The literary equivalent of click-bait.

I'm not sure if I'm more upset over being misled, or over missing out on what this could have been. Either way, it's massively disappointing.

Mills n boon version of a sf trope.

Corny, formulaic, predictable and smaltzy.

Why did he always have to call her by her full name, it was silly. The Prince was something out of a fucking Disney movie ffs. The dialogue cringe worthy.

How tf did this get 4 star ratings its utterly dreadful.

Seriously how old was the author when they wrote this, 16? Its classic school girl romance.

Awful, I mean one of the worst books I've read jn a while n that's saying something.

Good read

Stubborn could be the subtitle because both Lana and Adaar were stubborn. Actually Lana was the most stubborn of the two. But good read.

I am giving it 3 stars as it is an entertaining read; however, there were editing issues and a lack of romance.

As a science fiction book, I enjoyed the story. It has everything a Space Pirate book needs - a captain with a secret, a loyal crew, and pirating aplenty (though it does lack action). It also has a good plot as a science fiction story and it is a good beginning to a science fiction series.
BUT -
As a romance book, I didn't really see it. The interactions between the two are limited and are not romantic. She confronts him about hijacking her ship, he has one training session with her for a mission, she goes on the mission with him, and then confronts him about the secrets she learns on the mission. One kiss in the middle of training and 5 kisses at the very end of the book, I find hard to count as romance.

Adaar is a pirate with epic secrets

Lana is a Cargo pilot from a mining colony, and this young woman has seen more than her fair share of the rough breaks and bad cards life can hand out.

Not only were both of these characters great fun to follow through this adventure, the story has a lot of great meat to it, delving into the great responsibility that should come with great power, while acknowledging all of the people those allegedly powerful people have to keep an eye on. It is also a fantastic story with regards to judging people as individuals as opposed to making blanket assumptions based on the actions of a few, and reminds the reader that assumptions may be easy to make, but that doesn't mean they are correct.

Good read

This book was a very interesting read. I enjoyed the plot. The only thing I disliked was the constant pessimism from Lana. I understand that her life was hard, but sometimes you just have to make the best of things even though things are hard. I like to read these stories to escape reality. However, this one kept reminding me that sometimes life sucks. Overall, I liked the plot, so don't miss this book because of my one critique. I received a free copy for an honest review.

Lana is an interesting mix of a wild cat and a mom. She likes speeding and does reckless jobs, but when it comes to taking care of her brother she's responsible and caring. I like that she has an instant attraction to Adaar and vice versa that they both fight. I like the sexual tension and the easy flow of their gradual relationship. My only issue is how everything cut off at the end. I want to read what comes next.

A fun read; not my favorite genre, as it turns out, and not nearly as steamy as I like, but a good story. Little bit of Star Wars flavor with a hint of Kenyon's League. Could have used some sizzle and more tension, maybe? Enjoyed it enough to head on for the next in the series!

Story was good. Narration of the audiobook was awful. He had a good voice but terrible style of narration it sounded like he was depressed throughout the entire book.
