This was just a MONSTER to read. So much information to absorb. I have been rather heavily leaning on this book to survive my surgical posting. I’m ambivalent about this book because it does give a nice foundation about the must know topics for surgery but some of the topics such as inguinal hernia were too simplified or superficial. But if you have Bailey and Love, it pairs quite nicely together. Bailey and Love is difficult to parse and information overload at times 😅 but Essential Surgery guides you one what topic to hunt for in Bailey and Love, so these two books are a match made!

Simple explanation but sometimes to the extent that it discusses the topics in a superficial way. It is a"general" surgery book, yet lots of the main general surgical topics is not even covered in the book. Overall, It's an easy book to understand.
