A Concise, Comprehensive Approach to Java ProgrammingJava Foundations is a comprehensive textbook for introductory programming sequences. The versatile layout supports a two-or three-semester schedule and introduces you to the world of programming--from the basics, to complex data structures. Inspired by the success of their highly successful text, Java Software Solutions, authors Lewis, DePasquale and Chase build a solid framework for lasting comprehension. The Fourth Edition is updated and revised to keep the content fully up-to-speed while incorporating changes from user feedback. One such revision is maintaining a section on Swing in addition to a separate chapter dedicated to JavaFX. Although JavaFX is slated to replace Swing as the main graphics package in Java, the large amount of existing Swing code will continue to make it relevant for some time to come. The overall flow of the text is redesigned for intuitive progression through programming discussions and problem solving.
Garbage book. Too many errors and typos. Unclear explanations. Strictly not a beginner friendly. Always doubt pearson books for lots of mistakes, errors and typos.
Not a good intro text. It doesn't describe basic data structures like ArrayLists. Some of the code has errors and doesn't compile. Some of the example programs need 10 or more supporting programs, but we are expected to know which to include. There are also a lot of typos.
I'm unhappy with the VitalSource e-book reader app. It's slow and crashes almost every day. The highlighting function doesn't work for parts in math notation, which are often the most important parts. The "Video Notes" don't play either.
Content was probably like a 4/5 helpfulness, -1/5 tone. I can't remember. All I know is every time I think of this, I am reminded of the worst semester of my life. So 4/5 + -1/5 + -39523904/5 personal experience is like a one star. #GirlMath #ImNeverWrong
