I was fortunate to be given an advance copy of The Motivated Job Search. As an executive recruiter, I was able to directly apply the lessons from the book to advise and coach candidates searching for a new position from day one. For example, a candidate asked me about a specific position at a company. Taking cues directly from Mr. Howard's book, I told her to proactively identify the hiring authority and reach out directly. She successfully made contact and secured an interview without going thr ...more

Having read What Color is Your Parachute and this book, I think there are quite a number of similarities. However, this book seems to be a little more straightforward, and the ideas feel a little more practical and modern.

Not too much of a fan of the typography though - looks a little amateurish, and I think it really lets the content, which was great, down a little.

Note for non-job seekers out there: I personally enjoy reading job search books even when I'm not looking for a job - because it re

I got this book because I am jumping back into the job search for a job away from freelancing (aka traditional job) and wanted to create a system (being the Type A person that I am) for effeciently doing that. The book started off like a "If you're an executive or professional looking for a job, here's what you need to do...". which is not what I was looking for. (I could go to the Internet for that!) I continued with the book anyway and found it to actually be very helpful in several specific w ...more

"I was given this free review copy audiobook at my request and have voluntarily left this review."

Networking is important today; not only for job seekers, but to be able to connect with like minded people to broaden your circle.

Good, sound advice how to move up - or on - in the right direction and quickly.

A must have or listen to for anyone who wants to get somewhere better, faster!

Thought provoking!

Brian Howard has written a well-researched, simple to understand, and thought provoking guide to the entire job search process. The strategies he wrote about I would have never thought of. I used the advice in the book to identify possible employers and got interviews. I used his WITS approach to negotiating a job offer and got more than what I thought I could! His advice and instruction works! I recommend this to anyone looking to get their next job!
