Hayley and her two friends are big Outlander fans, so a trip to Scotland sounds like a dream. However, in order to insure they have the adventure of a lifetime, they decide to split up and forgo modern electronics and will only communicate with each other if they are in trouble. Hayley's adventure starts off a bit rough when she falls into a loch but her rescuer I received this book for free in exchange for an honest review. Hayley and her two friends are big Outlander fans, so a trip to Scotland sounds like a dream. However, in order to insure they have the adventure of a lifetime, they decide to split up and forgo modern electronics and will only communicate with each other if they are in trouble. Hayley's adventure starts off a bit rough when she falls into a loch but her rescuer makes it all worth it. Angus is fascinated with the American who refuses to use a cell phone and in-between rescuing her, her landlord, and his mother from a flood, he can't wait to get to know her more. Hayley's trip might not exactly copy Claire's but she just might get her own happily ever after.

If you're a fan of Outlander (and Harry Potter) and have ever dreamt about finding yourself in that heroine's shoes, then you might find this book full of fun whimsy. Our heroine Hayley frequently mentions that book, the landmarks that appear in the series, and how she desperately wants to meet her own Jamie Fraser. For me, she mentioned it so much I wanted to sit her down and say "You do realize you can't actually travel back in time and meet Jamie Fraser, right?”. Hayley's character was a bit head in the clouds and her and her friends plan to take a trip together to Scotland only to separate and not be allowed to use electronics (but apparently they can watch t.v. and drive cars) felt a bit odd.

The whole story is first person, told from Hayley's point of view. As typically happens for me when this writing style is used, I missed knowing and feeling our hero's point of view. I never felt Angus' depth; he seemed very walled off, until the last chapter where feelings are declared. Their relationship felt forced and I'm not sure I ever felt any chemistry. The book is a pretty quick read and never felt slow but our couple's relationship felt rushed, even as nothing was really happening. They like each other and I definitely got that they wanted to sleep together but the substance and details that I enjoy reading that lead to characters falling in love was missing.

There's plenty of detail of the town Hayley is staying at, with a good amount of touristy information that makes it obvious the author really did her homework or she has visited. The character of the country Scotland came through at times but our hero and heroine were not so lucky. Hayley's landlord was a great secondary character, she had a little background story that made me feel for her and enough personality to fill the pages but not butt in. Angus' mother was the other main secondary character and the mini role of villain felt pushed on her.

As I said, this is a quick read but I felt it lacked spark, charm, and the main couple's romance was fairly dry. The storyline of a single woman looking for love in Scotland, having a meet cute, pulling together in a crisis event, having a mini struggle/miscommunication, and an eventual happily ever after, can be found many times over in contemporary romance. Unfortunately, this book didn't distance itself from the rest for me.

Once they arrive, they agreed to split up and search for what each one needs from this vacation. This first installment in the Kilted Heroes trilogy, centers around school teacher, Hayley, from Georgia.

Hayley’s adventure gets off to an…er..interesting start when she nearly drowns, but, is rescued by a gorgeous, hot, Scot. After he returns Hayley to her quaint bed & breakfast, she learns her rescuer is no ordinary native. It turns out her hero is none other than Angus Munro, aka “Angus the Angler”, a retired football (soccer) star.

Angus has returned to his home town, hoping to put his hard and fast living days behind him and do something meaningful with his life. However, his return home has not gone as smoothly as he had hoped, with the residents shunning him, and constantly questioning his motives.

When he meets Hayley from Georgia, he finds his life turned upside down by the sweet American who is ready to throw caution to the wind in hopes of finding a little romance… and maybe even true love.

Who among you can honestly say you have never envisioned acting out your own version of Outlander, or meeting a modern day Jamie Fraser or another of your favorite men in kilts? This story capitalizes on that particular fantasy in a modern day setting, with a light, fun, easy to read story featuring characters we can relate to.

Hayley’s vacation didn’t turn out exactly as she had thought it would when a natural disaster interferes with her lodgings and her sightseeing plans. But, it does put her in direct contact with Angus again. The sexual chemistry between this couple sizzles and burns, so It was fun to watch them fall in love, face challenges and learn to compromise and work together.

Angus’ priorities garnered my respect and his big heart will have yours melting like butter, and may even have you thinking of planning out your own Scottish excursion.

Overall, this is light, whimsical, contemporary romance that will entertain and delight you.

I don’t know if I want to start with wee Hayley or Angus the Angler. Both characters were interesting and fun and as opposite as you can get. When Hayley set her mind to doing something, she does it. No matter how scared or insecure she is about it, she makes sure it gets done. She’s dependable, quiet and has an inner strength. Angus is her hero and possibly the man of her Outlander dreams.

Yes, the TV show and book “The Outlander” has a starring role in this story. It’s time for me to find out if it’s on Netflix so that I could watch it and really find out what all the fuss was about and what had Hayley, Willow and McKenzie plan their dream vacation looking for romance and adventure.

Now, for Angus. He really was a little bit confusing in the beginning and I wasn’t sure where she was going to bring him. But, the minute he put the plaid around Hayley, waited on Mrs. Pottinger’s stoop and told Hayley from Atlanta that he wanted to take her to the castle, I was a gonner.
For being a rough and tough soccer player, he had a sweet, kind and witty side of him that had me *sighing* and getting all dreamy eyed. Then, throw in his need to protect those he cares about, his caveman ways and his Gaelic endearments, I swooned. Yes, I fell in total love with Angus and couldn’t have been happier with his feelings for Hayley.

Now, I can’t wait to see just what Janice Maynard has in store for Willow and McKenzie during their adventures through the Scottish countryside. Will they meet their own Jamie Fraser from Outlander? Will they be swept off their feet by a hot Scot? Will they follow in Hayley’s footsteps and make new lives for themselves?

After re-reading this review, I really don’t feel like I am doing this story justice. It was a wonderfully told story about two people who got to know each other before they fell in love. Who weathered a storm and put themselves second so that they could help others. Who knew that the chemistry was there but anticipation could be good for the soul. Janice Maynard, a new-to-me author, totally entranced me with her story-telling skills. She kept me engaged in the story, made the characters loveable and really did make me feel that I was walking through the heart of Scotland.

Hot for the Scot offered a lot of my favorites in one read. I received an early release copy from NetGalley in exchange for an honest review. This was not only a great romance but, it was also a great armchair travel book. Hayley Smith and her two best friends were very close when growing up. But, when they were teens their lives all take different paths, with moving to other areas and choices they make that cause them to not be able to spend as much time together as they did as children. But, o Hot for the Scot offered a lot of my favorites in one read. I received an early release copy from NetGalley in exchange for an honest review. This was not only a great romance but, it was also a great armchair travel book. Hayley Smith and her two best friends were very close when growing up. But, when they were teens their lives all take different paths, with moving to other areas and choices they make that cause them to not be able to spend as much time together as they did as children. But, one thing they all have in common which keeps them close is their love for reading, especially a particular series with time travel and a historical romance based in Scotland. They each dream of meeting their very own 'Hot Scot' and make a pact to remove all modern obstacles during their trip like mobile phones and the Internet. They also agree to strike out individually for the month and become a part of the areas that each is visiting.

Hayley is immersing herself in the area she is visiting and early into her trip literally is thrown together with Angus Munro who is the epitome of 'Hot Scot'. Hayley dates but, she is unprepared for how quickly she falls for Angus. Despite being from a small Scottish village, Angus has lived a larger than life existence and has traveled and lived the life of an International star. He also has a mother that wants him all to herself. Despite all of the trials that Hayley and Angus face during the one month they spend time traveling and Angus is an excellent travel guide that knows the history of his country. Hayley is taken out of her list-making comfort zone but, she gets the vacation of a lifetime along with the romance of a lifetime. There are at least two more friends that we will see how they do with their Scottish adventure and I look forward to more Scottish armchair travel because Janice Maynard does an excellent job of helping the reader see the green hills of Scotland. This was a cute little read about 3 best friends to who head off to Scotland to find there own Jamie from outlander. Hayley and her two friends fly to Scotland and decide to split up so they can each have there own experience. I loved and yet hated at the same time that they spilt up but I did like they checked in and wanted to do this own there own.

Think Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants meets Outlander. That describes Hot for the Scot by Janice Maynard perfectly. Although I have never been swept up in the craze drawn by the aforementioned movie, show and books, I loved this one. Getting to the place she's staying she's a bit perplexed, the landlady just has the one room and the house is a bit cluttered but the room she rented is great! She's able to look around the small town near the loch and enjoy the Scottish experience. One day though she gets too close to the loch and falls in. The man who rescues her is a local guy, but famous. He's a retired soccer player Angus Munro and he's like her fantasies coming to life.

Angus came home because he wanted to help his mom. It's too bad people either want to hang out with him and talk soccer or they treat him like he thinks hes too good. When he saves the red haired girl from the loch and she doesn't know who he is, its refreshing. She's easy on the eyes and she's smart; plus he enjoys talking to her. They become romantically involved and it's like everything is falling into place. Then the flood happens and Angus saves her, her landlady and his mother, and brings them to live at his home. The close proximity just heightened all of the feelings they had for each other.

I requested this one on a whim, I'd read the author before but this one intrigued me since it was different from her norm. I read this in one day, I couldn't put it down. I was jealous of Hayley's adventure and also excited to see where it would lead her. Sometimes I thought that Angus was a little flat but it wasn't enough to slow the story down for me. I eagerly await the next books in this series so I can find out what happened with Willow and McKenzie! Leave the author love in the form of a review, its your way to show your appreciation for their craft.

I loved this story!

Hayley and 2 of her friends are going to Scotland for a month. Once they get there tho, they are going to split up and all go their separate ways for the month.

Hayley is staying at a so called B&B. This is not like any you have ever seen. She is close enough so sight see and relax. Hayley play life kind of safe so this is a stretch for her.

Hot For The Scot by Janice Maynard is a fun vacation of a lifetime read. I loved the beginning where the three female friends are together pretty much getting on each other nerves. I remember thinking Ms. Maynard has done some traveling herself to peg how time changes and traveling fatigue magnifies every quirk that normally does bother a person. Witty, well-written dialogue.

Cute romance with a bit of heat. I love the idea of a group of girlfriends traveling to Scotland for adventure and maybe a happily ever after. The story was very well written and it's entertaining. It would make a nice beach read or airplane companion as you head out on your own adventure (or to a conference you don't want to attend). I was a bit surprised at how rigidly Hayley stuck to the no-technology rule, but that's just me. It did say a lot about the conviction of our heroine.

Hot For The Scot is a cute and romantic book that emphasizes the importance of friendship, while also encouraging an adventurous spirit and an open heart. Janice Maynard writes a beautifully descriptive story that weaves gorgeous scenery with delicious romance, humor and human kindness. A perfect little vacation read!

This has been on my TBR list for so long on my shelf and on this cool rainy day I finally sat down and enjoyed it! This series is one for fans of Outlander and follows the journey of three friends on holiday in Scotland setting out to meet their own Jamie Fraser! I bought this on Kobo when it was a great deal just as another romance book. Really enjoyed it, though the steam level was lower than I was looking for. I loved the chemistry between these two characters (Angus is hot AF but also super sweet and I love him). Not my favourite but still super enjoyable and I sped through it. Will most likely pick up the other books in the series.

Let the adventure begin...

This book was a great start to the adventure that three girlfriends began trying to find there Outlander obsessions somewhere in Scotland. A modern day twist with wonderful characters make this a pleasure to read.

This is a new author for me and I'm so glad I found her. I love this book.
