Protecting the woman he loves just got more difficult than ever.
On the tail end of two abductions, Logan has Jade back safe. But her desire for intimacy batters him with an onslaught of passions. The unfamiliar lack of control terrifies cool-headed Logan, especially when it channels his super-strength into a fit of destructive rage.
Deadlier than ever, Ethan and Nicodemus close in on the woman who fled Ethan’s clutches ten years ago. With the aid of their extraordinary abilities, Ethan will finally capture the one that got away. And with Nicodemus’s help, he will destroy everyone who gets in their path.
All Logan wants is to keep Jade as far as possible from the two killers and to keep his mind clear. But when Jade discovers who the next target is, she will do anything to warn this next victim, even risking her own life.
Logan must get his emotions under control and stop the two killers, or he will lose the woman he loves forever.
Becca writes New Adult (college age) fiction that's typically Urban Fantasy but often ranges anywhere from Science Fiction to Thrillers. Her writing typically involves a bit of the fantastical with an emphasis on relationships. She is addicted to thinking up cool, super-human abilities and the tragic downsides that go along with them.
The author provided a copy of the ARC in exchange for an honest review.
Protector by Becca J. Campbell is the third instalment in The Flawed Series. The author has woven three parallel stories keeping the readers attention on high alert.
The characters have been introduced to the reader in books one and two. Nicodemus and Ethan continue on their destructive mission as Ethan is determined to find Kelsey. They have no moral boundaries on their pursuit. Kelsey is living her life and feels safe but is she? Logan is working as a professor. Jade is attending college. Jade and Logan are cautiously exploring their feelings. When the three worlds collide there is no turning back.
The author’s attention to detail is flawless. The plot moves quickly and is suspenseful, action packed and heart stopping. The characters voices are well written and clearly defined. The importance of the title is revealed as well.
The journey is not over. Looking forward to the next instalment. Will Logan ever have peace?
This is the third book of the Flawed Series and they do need to be read in order to follow the gang as they mature and learn more about their powers, dodging the evil and danger dogging them.
A kidnapping…The investigation has stalled, so it looks like it’s up to the kids. They have a lead and they’re off and running. The kids each have an ability they strive to keep hidden from the world and they will need them.
Jade’s sense of her destiny will have repercussions she never could have imagined. She is an empath, and wants to help her boyfriend, Logan. She has gotten him, to lower his guard and now his emotions are leaking out all over the place.
Kelsey had been hiding until she was forced to surface because of her need to give back, her love of the people she helps. Their need is more important than her own.
Jade will also make a couple of new friends, Kelsey and Hugh, and I would love to know more of their story, especially Hugh, a fragile soul who overcomes his terrors to act. What and why are his demons? And Ethan?
I loved being back with familiar characters and watching how they have changed from when I first met them. It took me a few minutes to refresh my memory of where the story left off. The gang have matured, grown stronger in their need to give and share with others.
I was swept up in the mystery and thrills of the danger, looking forward to finding out what comes next. I fear it may not end well.
I voluntarily reviewed a free copy of Protector by Becca Campbell.
So good of an antagonist that the real Protagonist fades in Comparison
First of all a huge thanks to the author for providing me with a copy of the book and trusting my words
This is my fourth book from Becca J. Campbell and also my fourth book in the flawed series and ever since I have started reading the series, I have never stopped being in awe of the character, Ethan. In all my reviews I have been repeating over and over again that I love the character of Ethan. No matter whose story it is, Ethan's portions in the books are one of the most alluring and impactful parts of the book and the funny part is that he is not the protagonist but in fact he is the one who you are supposed to hate and fear in the book (oh boy!! have I finally gone to the dark side?)
The book, Protector runs with three parallel story lines which converge towards the end, without colliding or blurring at the edges. There are several characters and plots that branches out from the main story and the interesting thing about this is that all these characters and parallel events seems to be there for a purpose and adds further strength and character to the book
Either I am too obsessed with the portions of Ethan or in real, the original central character of the book, Logan faded away in the book and his story ran a little lackluster and slow for being a core element of the book. Throughout the series, the author had divided each chapter devoting a portion to the protagonist and the later to the antagonist which in my opinion is a very creative way.
Cheat sheets are sprinkled in a strictly need to know basis so that you can brush up your memories about the events in the previous books but honestly if you require anything more than what has been already given in the book as cheat sheets to the previous books, it means that you are not a true fan or follower of the series but to be frank why would you ever read a third book in the series without going through the first-two
Also I can advice that you go through the novella constricted which is based on Logan and that would give you a more clear picture of the character and further enhance the character association for you in this one.
One of the best antagonists I have ever seen has to be Ethan. ok fine. There would be even more fantastic ones out there but for the time being I am going to stick with Ethan. So anyways coming back to Ethan, he is only available in this series and that makes it one of the reasons why you should pick it up. Another reason being that this time around there is a nice turn of events for the lovers of this series and as akin to her previous books, Becca has done magic again with her language and narration. It is light yet strong and smoothly weaved.

Oh how I have missed these characters! Very seldom do you meet a set of characters that stay with you, but these...these have stayed with me since reading Empath. Campbell's stories are riveting and always leaves me wanting the next installment ASAP! I have followed these characters on their journey of accepting their powers and their growth and was so happy to be able to get an advanced copy of Protector (Perfect name for the book, btw.)
Jade and Logan are two of my favorite characters and they are back, after all that they have been through, the danger isn't over. If you have been following the series, you don't want to miss this installment...because Ethan is back! And he is after Kelsey! And Jade is on a mission to save her from the evil psychopath that kidnapped her and held her hostage thinking she was Kelsey.
And we can't forget Nicodemus, Ethans accomplice. The two of them set out to finally capture what Ethan has been after all these years, Kelsey and they will stop at nothing to get her. Killing those who get in his way with no mercy.
We are also introduced to new characters. The allusive Kelsey is introduce and we get her POV as well. She has been in hiding since what happened with her and Ethan...and its not exactly as you suspect it to me. Nice little surprise there. She moved away, changed her name and has kept herself off all social media, trying to conceal her identity for fear of her past coming back to haunt her. She works at a hospital as an Art Therapist for kids that have mental and emotional issues. When she is the one who ends up having to do a press conference for the hospital on national television, thus giving Ethan all the info to find her.
I loved Hugh, one of Kelsey's patients. A young boy, who is sweet and doesn't talk. He has been at the hospital for 10 years and hasn't said one word to anyone, until Kelsey. He is unique and very sweet and would love it if we see him again in future books. (Please Becca!?!)
Oh, and we can't forget about crazy Violet, who is determined to be with Logan. Yea, shes shows up and causes trouble too.
Now the race is on, who will get to Kelsey first and will any survive this madman who is bent on his mission? You must read to find out!
Another great thriller from Campbell that will have you biting your nails and glued to the book waiting to see what the outcome will be with the predator finally catches up to his prey!
Protector, the third novel in the Flawed series, follows the story of Jade and Logan after the horrifying events in Carlsbad and Denver from books one and two.
Being a huge fan of the series, and of Jade and Logan's characters, I was excited to read this installment. I must say, this was probably my favorite book in the series so far. The characters were great: Ethan and Nicodemus were intricate villains, new and interesting super powers were revealed, and I love the dynamic of Logan and Jade's relationship. There were heartfelt moments, followed by a building intensity that wouldn't let me stop reading until I'd finished the book. I adored Hugh's character, and I hope we see more of him in the future.
I was privileged to receive a copy of Protector in exchange for my honest review. I highly recommend it! It even tied in with a couple of the short stories in the series. It was a fantastic read, and I can't wait to see what comes next!
Bottom line: if you haven't read Protector yet, or the Flawed series in general, do so now! :)
This is the 3rd book in the series, and I recommend you read them in order. Each of the previous books leads in to this story, with the exception of Kelsey, we have met each of the characters before. In Protector, we get to see scenes from the POV of Ethan, Logan and Kelsey, Kelsey is Ethan's ex-girlfriend, the girl he mistakenly thought Jade was in the first book in the series Empath.
As with the previous books in this series I was hooked, reading most of it in one sitting. By the time we neared the climax of the book I was on the edge of my seat. I loved the way Campbell handled the confrontation, it would have been so easy to magic it away, make Logan use his super strength to over come Ethan and Nicodemus, but the way in which it was resolved was far better and got two thumbs up for me.
With that epilogue I cant wait to read the next instalment in this series.
Protector is the third book in the (Flawed Series) We have already meet the characters in book sone and two. Nicodemus and Ethan continue on their mission of destruction as Ethan is determined to find Kelsey. They have no moral boundaries on their pursuit to find Kelsey. Kelsey feels safe and is living her life. But is she really safe? Logan is working a s a Professor. And Jade is attending College. Logan and Jade are cautiously exploring their feelings for each other. When the three worlds collide there is no turning back. The story is fast paced and full of suspense
Logan and Jade are 2 of my favorite characters in this series. They have a chemistry together that is endless. Logan always the protector and Jade always loving and caring, wanting to help those in need whenever she can. When things start coming together only to almost fall apart again, these two work together and take charge with help from a very quiet and very scared patient, Hugh, and his light, Kelsey. Becca Campbell really pulls everything together in this story and pulled me farther into the series. I can't wait to read more.
I loved this book! I feel that it was the best of the series, and considering how much I enjoyed the first two installments, that's saying a lot. The elements of suspense that we're building throughout the first two books, such as Ethan trying to find Kelsey in order to recapture her, come to a head in this book. The characters were so very richly drawn. I simply adored Hugh and know other readers will, too. I'm looking forward to more of the Flawed series because it is truly amazing.
Minor plot detail - I removed the previous spoilers.... Book 3 in this great series details more of the character Logan. Logan's character has super strength but also really quickly growing hair, he decides to cut it to keep it under control and this has interesting consequences. He also notices that his feelings are starting to get strangely out of control... This story also focuses on Kelsey and characters central to her, in her work in a mental health treatment centre. As the story unfolds, Jade and Logan begin to realize that she may need their help as Ethan is determined to have her back - at any cost. The characters in this story are particularly strong, and the story is very heartwarming. Although the main story involves Ethan and his obsession with Kelsey, the work that she does and the people that she meets make this a really involved plot. The human element is really prevalent in this book and it was a joy to read from start to finish. I'm looking forward to part 3.5 next but so far, this is my favourite from this series.
When Jade was kidnapped by a man with supernatural night vision, he kept referring to her as Kelsey. Worried what he might do if he found her, Jade combs the papers for any mention of where she might be, much to the displeasure of Logan, who only wants to keep her safe. But the kidnapper and his accomplice, who had been foiled in Outsider by Jade’s friends, are hot on Kelsey’s trail and it’s only a matter of time before they catch up with her and imprison her for good.
I was incredibly lucky to get an Advance Reading Copy of this book from the author after reviewing her two previous books. I’ve blown through the entire series in record time because they are seriously so good.
This book focused less on the characters that had already been introduced and more on the villains and their prey, Kelsey. We don’t see the Schuyler family at all and are mostly focused on Jade and Logan, but the majority of the book deals with Kelsey’s problems at her job and the breakthroughs she makes with her art therapy students.
I felt like this book moved a little more slowly than the others, but I still enjoyed it a lot. Apart from the villains, whose segments seemed to pass quickly, there is so much focused on Kelsey that it almost seems like the book is in a different series. If it wasn’t for Ethan and Nicodemus to tie it in, it could be a different book altogether. That’s not to say it’s bad; I loved reading about Kelsey’s students and her attempts to pull off a fundraiser, but it didn’t have the same feel.
Just as in the other books, the action sped up once Ethan got his hands on Kelsey. Coincidentally, that’s also when Jade and Logan were pulled back into the story in a big way. The climax was seriously exciting and Jade’s newly discovered use of her flaw took it to a whole other level.
My only gripe, and it’s a tiny one, is that there was a subplot with Logan’s long-lost father that felt a little tacked-on. I would have loved to explore it a little more but with everything else going on I’m not sure where it would have gone. I was also a little uncertain about a bit with Violet, Logan’s ex, while he was on the way to help Jade but the epilogue picked up where it left off and promises a fourth book in the series. I am seriously excited about this!
I have one more book in my to-read pile, then I’m going to buy Pulled and Constricted, two short stories from the Flawed universe. I can’t get enough of these characters and their special flaws. Protector goes on sale in January and I highly recommend you pick it up along with books one and two in the series.

The author was gracious enough to provide a copy of this book’s ARC for me to read and review.
Recommendation: With a dark progression from book to book that I haven’t seen since ‘Harry Potter’ Protector is an enjoyable low fantasy novel about real world characters with real world issues, mostly. As book three in the series, you’ll need to start with book one or risk being confused, however, book three is worth it.
Ethan’s back! Jade and Logan have settled into an uneasy calm since the last attack, and Logan is set on getting on with their life. The police have yet to find Ethan and Jade can’t help but worry about Kelsey and her safety. Her trauma caused by Ethan in the caverns has her frantic in her need to find and protect Kelsey. She’s sure Kelsey is in danger and that Ethan will torture her even worse if he ever finds her. But when Jade does finally find Kelsey, will she be too late to save her?
Book three in the Flawed series is an ensemble cast this time around with a mix of both old and new faces. Logan is still as brooding and closed off as ever, battling with his own ability and how to control what Jade so longs for him to share with her. After her abduction by Ethan, Jade is distraught and near panic over finding Kelsey. Jade’s focus and Logan’s own problems pull the two in different directions and they struggle against each other in a refreshing way that pulls them from a cookie cutter relationship mold. Ethan is as crazy and deranged as ever, you’ll have to read the book to learn more. Kelsey is the newest member of the cast and her charm and passion jumps from the pages. She’s an art therapist and her desire to help and heal the children she sees is a wonderful light shining from the pages amidst the darkness that Ethan casts. She’s worth reading the entire book.
As the third installment (plus some short stories) in the Flawed series, Protector is the logical, dark, next step. Ethan’s plots have escalated and with Kelsey finally in his sights and as a result the interactions between all of the characters is more tense, more violent, and more twisted. A ‘light’ in the story was one of Kelsey’s students, Hugh, a mute who was fantastically written, vibrant, and someone I am hoping Becca Campbell will eventually write a book about.
I was provided a copy of this story for an honest review. I have to say for me, this book has been the best so far in the Flawed Series.
The story focus is supposed to be focused on Logan (as the 'protector'), however I felt he was not written as the main character. The main character was Kelsey. Kelsey is a new character in the series, however, she is in fact the girlfriend whom Jade was mistaken for in book 1 (by Ethan).
Ethan and his counterpart Nic, are on the hunt for Kelsey. Following a Gala promotion Kelsey has for her workplace, they find her. Kelsey has been hiding for years, and had also changed her name. Jade also has been looking for Kelsey and finds her the same way. She try's to warn her Ethan is looking for her, however in the end she has to travel to warn her directly. This of course puts her in harms way and Logan has to follow.
I really enjoyed Kelsey's story. She is an Art Therapist who supports children with mental or emotional Ill-health. They sections on her and are patients was very well written. I particularly enjoyed the area on Hugh. He has different issues and has been at the Centre for sometime. Kelsey is the first person to get through to him and it is really very lovely. It was a great addition to the story. It does of course fit in the story line very well. Because Kelsey has brought Hugh out of his shell, he therefore has gained more confidence and had the ability of help Kelsey when she needed it.
The characters are excellent. They were all writen very well with good detail and descriptions. They really did come to life in my mind. As I said in my review of book 2, the villains Ethan and Nic are very well done. They really are a paid of very nasty pieces of work!
Overall this is a very enjoyable read. It is a YA novel, therefore it is a straightforward read. By that I do not mean simple (by far, it's full of twists and turns and edge of you seat storylines). If you are looking for something 'easy going' but with drama and excitement then I would certainly recommend it.
Lucky is the person that gets to read the Flawed series. Even luckier if you can read the books quickly one right after another. I don't put this on the author. Becca J. Campbell who is an accomplished writer. I love her stories very much. But my brain keeps getting lost as to what the characters were doing before and I seem to need more background to bring it all together in my head.
As usual, Ms. Campbell had me, even if I couldn't quite remember the past adventures. Her characters are compelling, yet flawed. And you are even allowed inside the antagonist's head through his point of view. It doesn't make you like him any better, but it makes him seem more real and less 'bad guy'.
Each of the main characters have talents that are puzzling yet seem to have uses in the almost real world that they are a part of. The world seems to be our 'real' world yet somehow these gifted few are living among us.
This book was given to me by the author for an honest review. It was an ARC and so I didn't expect perfection. Yet, it was well done and maybe in the finished copy it will have fixed the minor issue, for me, of a history of the characters of past books. Maybe even a quick cast of characters with a reference of which book what happened in, without giving too much away, that is. All in all, I was pleased with the book and quickly bought the book I was missing in my collection: Pulled. I look forward to reading it and maybe it will fill in the holes for me. I highly recommend this series to fantasy fans everywhere.
With lots of stuff going on during the holidays I am glad I was able to relax with Ms. Campbell's third Flawed book.
I found the beginning a little slow for this one, but I also have to admit that I have been super stressed and found very little in my reading options that appealed to me. The fact that Logan Henry's story did keep my interest at this time of year when I had a hundred and forty things to do, and made me forget at least 108 of them, says a lot about the story.
Logan, Jade and Cam discover that Ethan - the Carlsbad Kidnapper - from the first book was chasing a real person and they find out who she is. Jade goes to warn her and both women end up in trouble as Nicodemus and Ethan kidnap them from the fundraising gala. New talents emerge that save them both.
Once the action started I was hooked, drawn deep into the story to the exclusivity of the life around me. I am relieved that Nic is dead and Ethan is on the critical list. Kelsey, Jade, Logan and the young Hugh proved themselves to be strong and courageous.
The epilogue has left me wanting book 4 already and I definitely want to read all the shorts!
I have quite enjoyed Ms. Campbell's Flawed series thus far and look forward to reading many more.
This entire review has been hidden because of spoilers.
Thanks to Ms Campbell for affording me the opportunity of an ARC to this 3rd book within the the Flawed series. I thoroughly enjoyed it.
In Protector, Logan and Jade once again find themselves face to face with Jade's former captor, only this time his true obsession Kelsey is also finding herself face to face with evil.
The plot is well written, we begin to understand more about Kelsey, Ethan's true obsession and what events unfolded in the past with these two. We are also introduced to perhaps a new character with his own spectacular and unique ability.
Violet, who is obsessed with Logan also becomes more central within this book and we see where she may very well end up being a tremendous and possible additional hurdle for Logan and Jade in the future.
Overall this book had a well thought out story and was carried out in the perfect way. I am really looking forward to where Ms. Campbell may take us next, and hope she will continue to expand on previous characters, their abilities and how their lives though separate and different, are entertained.
Logan is finally is reunitedwith Jade, he wants to keep her safe and away from two killers. He is determined to destroy anyone who gets in his way with the help of Nicodermus. But jade discovers who the next victim will be and wants to be able to warn the victim, even if it puts her life in danger. But will Logan be able to keep his cool , if not he may lose the woman he loves forever.
A fast paced thriller. The plot is original and intense. The characters are well developed and likable (most of them). Learning more about Logan's past adds more dramatic flare. Overall I found Protector an enjoyable read and feel others will enjoy it as well.
Logan is not my favorite character in this series but this book was still very interesting. It's build up on the back ground between Ethan and Kelsey.
I think it was really good to get to know Kelsey and her work and every day life. I would sure like to see more of Hugh and how things turn out for him because he was completely ignored in the ending.
Although I found it a bit much that Ethan and Nicodemus can't stand each other so much but still stick with each other. It doesn't even seem so convenient for them to do so. If I was Ethan, I don't think I would stick too long close to Nicodemus, even if he was supposed to "help" me.
I'm also wondering a lot about Jane and her new powers, it seems that her Empathy is totally gone. I mean she could have found Ethan was here by Empathy before but it didn't happen quite that way.
Thoughts: This was pretty interesting. We finally meet Kelsey, the woman that Ethan is so obsessed over, and I really like her. I hope she shows up in more books. Logan and Jade are having some issues, which is somewhat normal in any relationship, but it's a twist as to why. Oh, and Violet is still stalking Logan and I can't wait to see what happens with that! This series is so much fun to read, there's suspense, fantasy, and so many new characters that come on the scene you will never get bored!
Please note that I received a complimentary copy of this work in exchange for an honest review.
Kelsey has been hiding for ten years from Ethan. After a news conference regarding a fundraiser at the hospital she works at; she has now been found. Jade and Logan go to help her. The biggest help just might come from an unexpected sourse. Can Logan save Jade and Kelsey? Will his powers be enough to get them out of this alive? So much danger, and emotional intrigue. Wonderfully well written story! You could call this a paranormal suspense novel. A must read. Follow along with Jade, Logan and the rest of their friends in this and the next books.
I received a copy of this story from the author in exchange for a honest review.
Book three in the series goes back to a storyline about Jade and Logan. The author does a great job of showcasing Logan's feelings and how he learns to believe in himself. We also get to meet the real Kelsey during a wild action packed adventure to save both her and Jade from the crazy Ethan. Enjoyable read from start to finish.
Meet Logan, he's a regular guy most times, but he has extraordinary strength at others. Meet Jade, she's an empath who looks like Kelsey, an art therapist. Two evil men, Ethan, a blind man who can see in the dark, and Nic, a psychopath with magic eyes which can controller people, are after Kelsey. Nice and Ethan decide to kidnap Kelsey during a charity art auction. Logan must be the protector of his friends. This is a fast moving book with many twists and turns.
This book is great and I enjoyed it, I'm loving what Ms. Campbell is doing with this series. I would really urge the readers to read this series in order though as you do meet some of the narrators in earlier books and it gives you a chance to know who it is that is narrating.
