Scott Standish has been a rambling man since his mother got sick way back when he was eighteen. Unable to watch her die, he left home after graduation and kept roaming.

But when he goes home to Harkness, New Brunswick for a Thanksgiving visit, he discovers he’s got a stowaway—ten-year-old Sid the Kid, his sidekick from the job he just left. For once, moving on had been har

What a lovely heart warming book!

Scott has a hard time staying in one place and making connections with people. The only people he seems to miss are is family, but not enough to visit often. This Thanksgiving he realized how his rambling ways have put a strain on his brother, so Scott agreed to come back to run the farm for a few months. First he must go get his things and finish up his last job, and say goodbye to the woman and her daughter who are making it hard to leave. He thought he made a

Loved this story!! Scott and April were great characters but April's young daughter Sidney stole my heart! Scott has suffered a lot of loss in his life. First his biological parents then his adopted mother. He couldn't take it anymore and took off. He's been roaming ever since. Never staying anywhere too long, always being careful not to get attached. Even he admits though the time he spent in Montreal with April and Sid the Kid was different but he has to get back Harkness and help out on his f ...more

What a great story. Don't get me wrong, I Love It, but had to break out the kleenex around Chapter 40. Scott and April - who wouldn't love and pull for them to be together, BUT Sidney stole my heart and I thought she totally made this story what it was.

ARC received from author for an honest review.

4.5 Stars - rounded to 5. Promise Me the Stars was the third and final book in the Standish Clan and my favorite. It can be read as a stand alone but I'd recommend reading the first two since Scott is introduced in those books and you get a feel for his character.

This book centers around Scott who was adopted by his aunt and uncle after the death of his parents. Scott has always had a hard time feeling like he fit even though his adopted family always treated him as if he were there son/sibling.

Despite its longer page count, PROMISE ME THE STARS had a more unfinished feel than its two predecessors. In a departure from previous books, this novel had only one brief (and disappointing) explicit love scene; everything else was fade-to-black. One of the main characters, a 10-year-old child, often exhibited adult characteristics, which I found jarring. Jarring, too, were the numerous editing mistakes. That said, this was still a satisfying end to the trilogy of love stories set in Harkness, ...more

This is a great finish to the Standish family series.

Be sure to grab a box of tissues before you start this one. You’re gonna need them. This one will tug the heartstrings, really get ya just when you thought it would all turn out fine.

“Promise Me the Stars” picks up late October with Scott driving Titus’ truck to Harkness, where he grew up on his aunt and uncle’s farm after his parents died. Indicative of his development and mental state, he refers to his cousin Titus as brother, a BIG step fo

My Review:
Scott is not a relationship guy. He knows it. April knows it. He won't ever be that guy, so it's not fair for him to get involved with April...and it's certainly not fair for her ten year old daughter Sid. The thing is, Scott loves his home. The home that he can't manage to stay at, but he shows his love by sharing his stories about it to Sid. She believes every word especially when it comes to the magic of wishes. This is a young girl who needs the magic of wishes to be real.

But for a

Promise me the Stars picks up after book number 2, Ember’s Flame. Normally, I kind of give a lay of the land, so to speak, about the book and its premise, but the blurb does that perfectly. I’m just going to tell you why you should read this book. IT. WAS. AWESOME. The characters are well written and well developed. With the previous two books, we already knew that Harkness was a place that we’d all want to grow up and we already knew the supportive nature of most of its residents. We also knew ...more

I received a copy of this book in exchange for an honest review. If you have been following this series, you will know that this is book 3 and the third one I have read. I was so happy to read about Scott Standish, the third sibling in this family. His story takes place after Titus and Ember (his siblings) but very closely thereafter. Get ready for a wild ride because this story starts out with a major heart string pull! I won’t tell you much about the storyline – you need to read this and books ...more

"I didn't know if Norah Wilson could top herself after writing the first two books in the "Standish Clan" series, but this third book is amazing! If you have not read this series you are missing out on three great books. This book, "Promise Me the Stars" manages to evoke all the emotions possible as you read the book. There is humor, sadness, and joy as you read the story of Scott Standish and the woman he is in love with (but he doesn't quite know that, yet), April Morgan and her precocious dau

I received an ARC for an honest review.

This is the last book in this series. It is slow at times, but that helps with the build up of the chemistry between Scott Standish and April Morgan. April is a single mother to her daughter Sidney. She can’t take the chance on both of them getting too close to Scott. He is a wanderer who doesn’t settle in one place very long, and it seems he’s the only man who can break their hearts. While the adults were fighting their attraction, Sidney had other ideas w

I loved every minutes of Promise Me the Stars, nicely written by Norah Wilson! This story is the beautiful conclusion of the Standish Clan trilogy, set in Harkness, New Brunswick ! We meet again, the members of the Standish family, Ember and Titus, now it's Scott's turn to find a loving woman.

Scott, has to go home for Thanksgiving to be with it's family. Memories come back to haunt him of the woman he left behind, April. Scott, doesn't want to settle down, he's not ready for marriage, that's wh

This was truly my most favorite book of the series. I have been wondering about Scott and why he truly felt a bit disconnected from his family even though they tried so hard to make him feel like a true son and sibling. It is said that life comes in circles and Scott truly got his. I loved Sid and how she feels just like every little girl, to just want a complete family of her own and to have what is best for her mother. I also think Arden is one of my most favorite characters. He is a true gent ...more

Well Norah, you saved the best for last. Scott and April's story was so good. I laughed, I cried, I giggled and in the end I had a great big smile. Sidney, (Sid the Kid) stole the story. Bless her heart! Wishing on the stars and the first snow for a dream come true. Scott was raised by his Uncle Arden after his parents died and he just always felt a little on the outside. He just couldn't put down roots and found himself wandering from job to job. April had a child out of wedlock and her very st ...more

GREAT BOOK! This book is my favorite in the series. The chemistry between Scott and April is undeniable. Sid is just hilarious, as kids that age tend to be. But the best is when Arden and Faye play 'Scrabble' every evening. April catches on to the 'Scrabble' right away and I love how April, Ocean, Ember and Sid keep it from Scott, Titus and Jace to see how long it takes them to catch on ... I laughed so hard I had tears in my eyes. I recommend the whole series ... with this last book being excep ...more

I received this book/arc for a honest review. Please keep the tissues handy. I love Scott and April's story and little Lady Bug. He can't settle down and she needs someone stable in her and her daughter's life. I am glad they have their HEA. You don't want to miss this book. If you haven't read the first 2 you don't need to but it would be good to understand the background.

Really enjoyed this book and the trouble a 10 year old girl, Sid can get into. She sure was determined to get her mother across Canada. It was an enjoyable book.
