I’m wild. I’m reckless. I’m Kat Willis - the ultimate party girl. My goal in life? To have a good time, a feat I seem to accomplish with ease. I’ve lived a privileged life in picturesque Crystal Lake. On the outside, I have it all. Money, good looks, and any guy I want. Until he came along… Jaxson McAllister. Insanely sexy with a killer smile, I never stood a chance. He saw a part of me I’d kept hidden behind the façade of a good time. I wasn’t prepared for him to turn my world upside down, but when he did, all the broken pieces of my life fell into place. Everything I’d told myself I never wanted, suddenly became exactly what I needed. A home. A family. Love.
Rachel Smith was born and raised in a small town in Iowa. After spending a few years in the ‘big city’ she now lives with her husband and two children in Clear Lake. Working part time from home, she spends the rest of her time exercising, reading, and taking care of her family.
This book is SO GOOD! You will want to meet Kat Willis. You will most definitely want to meet Jaxson McAllister. And you will, without a doubt, fall in love with Trevor. My full review of this fabulous book is coming soon. <3
Updated review:
Do you like books that grab you from the first few pages? Do you want your stories to make you feel all those FEELS you love when reading a super fabulous story? Well, Unwanted Love is one of those books! Not lying. I can’t say enough positive things about this book. Everything… I loved everything thing about it; the characters, the storyline, the writing, the humor, the sass, the romance…every, single thing.
This story and its characters will stay with you long after you finish. They are loveable. They are unforgettable. They are absolutely perfect.
*Kat Willis – beautiful, rich, parties all the time, able to get any guy she wants…the perfect life, right?
*Trevor McAllister – I dare you not to fall in love with him. He’s smart, he’s cute, he knows just what to say to charm the ladies…and he’s only 6-years old. He will own your heart.
I think what I loved most about this book, was that I never knew what was going to come out of Kat’s mouth next. It could either shock you, make you laugh until your stomach hurts, or squeeze your heart until it breaks. And on top of the smiles, giggles, & gasps…you will probably shake your head, cuss a few times, and force yourself not to throw your kindle.
Do I recommend this book? The answer to that is a big, FAT YES! And FYI: this has a fantastic epilogue!
I received a complimentary copy of Unwanted Love in exchange for an honest review.
Often, in the romance genre, we read about the rich man whore whose life changes when he sees THE girl who makes him change his ways. Right? Right.
What we don’t typically read about is the party hardy slutty girl who changes her ways for the man of her dreams. That is exactly what you get with this storyline. Katherine Willis, known throughout her town as the easy lay, meets Jaxson McAllister – he is in town for the summer. He is a sweet, loveable, all around great guy, did I mention a total hottie? Ummm yeah and now throw in a little boy named Trevor, Kat’s best friend Presley (yes, as in Elvis), and Jaxson’s best friend Josh and you have one hell of a story! Rachel Smith keeps you swiping those pages as fast as you can – she throws some curve balls you don’t see coming and keeps this story wildly entertaining!
Did I laugh out loud? You betcha!
Did I cry? Oh yes, big ole alligator tears!
Was this book worth the tears? OH HELL YEAH!
Honestly, the epilogue was one of my favorite parts of the book – may even be my favorite epilogue of all times. By the way, those big ole alligator tears? Yeah, those happened in the epilogue!
THIS. BOOK. IS. A. MUST. READ.
It’s not often that I can say 5 Stars for a book, I am pretty stingy with my stars – HOWEVER – this book blew me away! I loved it, I mean absolutely LOVED it.
I just finished reading Unwanted Love and completely fell in love with the characters. What's best about this book is that it's 100% believable...it's so realistic you feel like Kat and Jax are your friends, falling in love before your very eyes. The pace was perfect, as were the details. I literally didn't put this down until I fell asleep and quickly finished the next morning.
I cannot say enough good things about this book and encourage anyone looking for a real love story to pick this up.
A story about how far you will go to get the man of your dreams and the changes that one woman has to go through to get the guy that her heart desires. Katherine Willis is the girl that no mother wants to see their son walk up the path with, she has a reputation, that she just can’t shake but when she happens upon Jaxson McAllister, I was hoping that she would at last catch a break, that he could bring all her dreams true because from what I could see, he was the light in what she thought was her dark world. She had parents especially her mother that seemed to take little if any interest unless of course it was to cut her down with the harshest of words. I hated her mother but have to admire the tone with which the author brought her to life. Jaxson has a beautiful soul, he is a truly great guy and that is all without taking his looks into account. But he had the making of Kat and refused to give her an inch of wiggle room. He stood tall regardless of expectation and situation and he stood by not only his principles but also Kat because when he set his mind to something, he was not going to be deterred and when he laid into Kat’s parents I had a smile the size of Texas across my face – you go guy!!! Could they make it – well you need to read the book to find that out but I will say , you will not be disappointed, this is a funny read with a cast of super secondary characters, especially Trevor, Presley and Josh. The story doesn’t dither but yet it doesn’t sprint, the author allows the characters to dictate their own pace and to unfold their story with a charm an humour that kept me hooked.
Author Rachel Smith has done it again. I absolutely loved this book! This is not your regular romance book. Yes, you will cry. Yes, you will want to throw your kindle. Yes, you will want to crawl into the story and slap the characters. But you will also fall head over heels in love with Kat Willis. The troubled, messed up, "Can't help but love her", MC that has THE BEST one liners, ever! When Jaxson McAllister comes waltzing into Kat's life, she is so thrown off her game, she has no idea what to do or how to act. It's absolutely hilarious and heartwarming at the same time. And sweet Trevor...be prepared to lose you heart to him! This book will have you turning page after page wanting to know what kind of trouble Kat will get herself into next. Do yourself a favor and get a copy of this book asap! You won't regret it!

Kat is in her early 20's, who is happy and set in her ways. She loves spending her nights getting trashed and hooking up with the next random guy. She isn't in school and doesn't have a job, Kat is spoiled. To say the girl has grown you in a wealthy family is an understatement. But to say everything is as peachy has they seem to the outside world would be a joke. She grew up with unloving parents that only wanted something to do with her when it would make them look better to their friends.
Insert Jaxson. Jaxson walks into the local coffee shop and Kat's world is rocked. She instantly knows she wants to get down and dirty with him. He will be her next conquest. The catch? Jaxson doesn't want a relationship. He has a lot going on in his life and doesn't need anything or anyone making it more complicated. Can they stay in the friend zone?
I enjoyed this book so freaking much! I loved how instead of the guy being a manwhore, the girl is actually slutty and when the right guy comes along she changes. I loved how the characters evolved and changed throughout the book, and how Jaxson and Kat grew and learned so much from one another.
This is a friends to lovers book that I couldn't put down. Jaxson and Kat just had such a well developed relationship I couldn't wait to see what was going to happen next. I also loved the side characters and everything they brought to the table. There is a time that I teared up because it was just fucking sad! But it brought so much more to the book and the story being told. I gave the book a medium Panty Scorching rating because, yes it has it's hot moments, but those moments never got to graphic. Sometimes it's best to leave things smoldering and use your imagination. ;) I would totally recommend this book! It's the first book I have read by Rachel Smith and I will for sure check out more of her work in the future.

Katherine is a party girl, waking up in a different guys bed all the time. She comes from a very rich family but she has a mother who is verbally and emotionally abusive, what mother forces a boob job on her daughter because she doesn’t like the way she looks? Katherine’s father is emotionally unavailable and never sticks up for his daughter, so Katherine feels she is not good enough to love.
Jaxson is taking a year off from college to help care for his sick mom and his little brother Trevor. He officially meets Kat when she is out walking with her best friend Presley. Even though Kat has instant and very intense feelings about Jaxson a misunderstanding leaves her feeling angry and when she sees him again and he asks her to have a drink with him, she flies off the handle causing a scene.
Once this misunderstanding is cleared up, Jaxson makes it perfectly clear to Kat that they can only be friends. It doesn’t take long for Jaxson to realize that he wants more than friendship with Kat. I loved the story of Kat and Jaxson. I could feel the pain Kat was going through having a mother who didn’t love her no matter what she did. She felt unworthy of love, and until Jaxson she didn’t think anybody would be capable of loving her, especially given her past.
While I loved Kat and Jaxson, Trevor stole my heart right out of the gate. His bright and shining heart and his Elvis impressions made me laugh and found myself wanting to just reach right into this book and pull him out and keep him for my own.
Rachel did a fantastic job weaving all of key characters into this story. I loved the interaction between Kat and Presley, but watching her fall in love with Trevor was enough to have me in tears. I can’t even begin to describe my feelings for the epilogue, it was by far the best one I have ever read. I really look forward to reading more stories by this author!
*I was given an arc in exchange for an honest opinion*
Rachel Smith continues her winning streak with her latest book "Unwanted Love" . I was thrilled to be given an ARC of her latest offering and I was honestly hard pressed to put it down. I devoured it in two sittings and would have made it only one sitting had I not had to cook supper. It was a pretty substandard supper because I just had to get back to the book.
Rachel creates such wonderful characters and the main character Kat is one of those bad girls that you just have to love. Her wit and sometimes potty mouth all add to her charm and I was struck with the realness of her character. When she meets Jaxxon she is thrown for a major loop - after all she is the rich little party girl who doesn't need any guy to complete her. Her life consists of one night stands and encounters that are meaningless. But then comes Jaxson and all that changes.
Of course there have to be some twists and turns in their relationship and the author deftly throws just the right amount of challenges into the mix to keep the reader wondering what is going to happen next. What will happen to Jaxson's mom? Will Jaxson's little brother, Trevor, become a part of their lives? Will Kat's past always haunt them?
This is one of those books that will remain in my mind long after it has been finished simply because it is a fun story that is written in such a delightful and interesting manner. Rachel Smith is a fine wordsmith and I am already looking forward to her next novel. Please tell me it won't be too long from now because I am hooked.
This was a book which had me laughing and crying in equal measure. It's a story which is familiar - party girl meets guy, falls for him, he tries to tame her. But it's so much more than that.
Kat has played a part for so many years that she believes that's all she is. Her parents, especially her mother, take every opportunity to bring her down. Her mother is a horrible person, described brilliantly by the author. Her father? He isn't what he first appears.
Jaxson is someone who doesn't take any of Kat's crap. He knows what he wants and he goes for it. He is not afraid to stand up for what is right. One of the best parts in the story, for me at least, is where he tells Kat's parents exactly what he thinks. Oh my goodness, it was so well done I was shouting 'Yes, go for it!' as I was reading the book. That made me fall in love with Jaxson so much more than I already had. To stand up for someone in such a way is what everyone wants to find in a guy I think.
The scenes which involved Trevor are really well done also. He is described as such a sweet little boy, then he comes out with lines involving Elvis Presley lyrics which made me laugh out loud when he said them.
Ahhhhh!!!! This book was fantastic and that is really what this book was. It was engaging, drama and lust filled, and finally love. I really enjoyed how at the end, the book is from a younger perspective versus the main characters. It really adds to the ending. I found that I was really able to connect with the characters in this book due to how real it was (okay, maybe not the becoming a millionaire overnight!) when things go wrong in relationships. The really gritty parts that can really mess up the happily ever after. I wish there were additional books because I am having a really hard time saying goodbye to this one.
~~I received this in exchange for my honest opinion~~
Unwanted Love is a book that will make you cry, laugh, smile, frown, and hope for all things possible. I couldn't put this down once I started reading it. I used more than one tissue for this book. Unwanted Love hits close to home. This book will make you mad and happy all at the same time.
Rachel writes like she is performing a ballet. It is beautiful and sad at the same time. I can tell you that I ill be reading another one of her books. I love her writing!! You will too
Loved loved loved this book. Rachel Smith has done it again! Get ready for every emotion possible, I laughed and cried and fell in love with the characters.
4 out of 5 stars - if you ask me, I'll tell you to read it (with some caveats)
I chose this book 100% for the cover photo. My parents have that exact photo hanging in their bathroom at home. I grew up spending summer weekends at Clear Lake. It's my happy place.
Summary: Kat Willis grew up the only child of a wealthy family in Crystal Lake. She was mostly raised by staff and put out for show when it benefited her parents image. In rebellion, Kat has become the local wild child, going out to bars and having one night stands (and ONLY one night, no repeating). When she meets Jaxson McAllister, her world is flipped on its head. She's never had someone get under her skin and into her mind like him.
Review: I went into this story without many expectations. I was pleasantly surprised by the story line, but I kept thinking "how in the world am I only at xx%? I feel like this should be wrapping up pretty soon.". The extra story beyond what I was expecting made for a nice ending. I stayed up later than I should have just to figure out how we were going to get to the happily ever after.
I was annoyed that the author kept calling her lady bits a hoo-hoo. It seemed somewhat immature. "I seriously thought my hoo-hoo was going to explode right there." I've heard hoo-ha, va-jay-jay, or other less PC things, but I've never in my life heard it called hoo-hoo. Especially not in a book when talking about sex.
Wow! Katherine (Kat) and Jaxson (Jax) do not have a straight road in life ahead of them. Their road in life is, well, curly - full of curves, a few u-turns, a few rough spots, a few long lanes and every now and then a yield. This book has a great story, with a believable storyline, and awesome characters! One click today!!
Rachel Smith is the author who introduced me to the romantic fiction genre a couple years ago with her debut novel, Home. I read and reviewed that book and its sequel, Broken Home, a year later.
Smith's first two novels were part of a series called the "Glenview Series." I assumed Unwanted Love was the third book in that series, but realized after reading the first few chapters that it is completely unrelated. I was disappointed at first because I have grown attached to the Glenview characters and can't wait for the rest of their stories to be written. However, I was able to move on quickly and accept the new heroine, Kat Willis, and the characters in her story.
That said, Rachel Smith has done it again! Unwanted Love is another story that fans of romantic fiction will fall in love with. It's a quick and easy read tailored to a slightly younger audience (20-somethings).
Kat's story was one of privileged neglect. She had each and every single material thing she could have ever wanted, but she had no one showing her any sort of affection or love other than her best friend. Her reactions to finding that special someone were hilarious and honest all at the same time. While Jax had his own problems, he was able to provide stability and true depth of feeling. I loved watching Kat grown and mature throughout the story and I was thankful for every ounce of comedy that was available in this book. I enjoyed being able to giggle about a conversation in the book while still being able to experience all of the emotions of the characters. The epilogue of this book was perfect! It was written from a different point of view and spanned many, many years down the road which gave the reader the closure that is truly desired from a full length novel.
By her own admission, Kat is the town floozy. Jaxson is the hot new guy in town. Kat wants to add him to her list of accomplishments but Jax has other ideas. This is a love story, simple and straight forward. Not a lot of twists and turns. Just a couple living life and learning to grow together with the curves that life throws at you. The author does a wonderful job with her writing. Book is an easy read and was totally believable. I found myself so engrossed at one point that I forgot that I was lying in my bed reading instead of sitting on the sofa in Jax's apartment. Characters are all well developed. The build up between the two main characters was spot on.
I received this for an honest review.. So first of all I am huge fan of this author..
I just fell in love with this story between Kat and Jaxson. This story hooked from the fist page until the very end.. Once I picked up this book I could not put it down. This book for me just had everything from laughs to heartbreak all wrapped up in this wonderful story written by this amazing author..
Kat and Jaxson are from different worlds but connect on this amazing level that just has you rooting for them from the beginning of the book until the end and good lord the chemistry between these two is just off the charts!!!!
Unwanted love is witty, comical and heart warming. Such a feel good book. This hilarious, gripping tale will make you laugh out loud and it will bring you to tears. Jax is delicious and Kat is shockingly refreshing as a lead female character. You can’t help but fall in love with them or the secondary characters. I couldn’t put it down, even in the midst of wedding planning. If you like comedy and romance, you won’t be able to put it down either!
I loved this story of "a poor little rich girl " . That was what Katherine Willis was . There's no wonder she did all the things that she did ,she was wanting love that she didn't get at home . This story is full of hate , love , sadness and happiness . I loved the ending and will certainly give it a 5 stars .
I literally devoured this book in one night. Great cast of characters, steamy sex scenes, beautiful love story with the right amount of turmoil. One of my favorite reads in a long time!
