For as long as Jill Andersen could remember, her father was a hero.

But heroes don’t commit murder, do they? The state of Maryland said Paul Andersen did just that, three times over, and was set to execute him for it. But Jill and the rest of her colleagues at the Baltimore Police Department come across the murder of a law student that leaves her hopeful that she can clear

So apart from the fact where the one thing I hoped wouldn't happen did happen, this books is amazing.
Jill Andersen is such a great character I am so happy that I can read a book with her as the main character like yes good thank you.
And then there are Ramon and Jorge and Juanita and Brian and all the other amazing people who are great and wonderful and yeah.
The story is amazing (and yes I forgive you for doing the thing I didn't want to happen... I mean I guess in the end that's realistic right?

This book was just as great as the first one in the series. I loved it! The characters I remembered and loved were back. The author even added some great new ones! This is a great series! * I received this book from the author in exchange for an honest review*

I enjoyed another chance to get to know Jill Andersen. Having read books 1 and 2 fairly close together, I'm not going to say much (for fear of spoiling one or both books), but it is good to see Bounty's journey, and to see how she adapts when her secret identity has to be shared with those who know her from her job.

Definitely looking forward to reading the continuing adventures of Bounty, Jill, and the rest of the folks at the BPD in the books to come!

I will begin this by saying I love the show Castle. You might wonder what this has to do with anything, but if you read Bounty and then Blood Ties, you’ll see it. Jill Andersen definitely has the spirit of Kate Beckett from the show. The honor, the drive to serve her city well, and she has a vendetta. However, Kate Beckett definitely doesn’t have fancy upgrades that essentially make her a super hero. No. That all belongs to Jill Andersen.

I received a free copy of this novel from the author in exchange for an honest review. This in no way affected the rating.

I loved Bounty so much, so I had high expectations for the sequel. This novel shattered them all: it was way, way better than I could ever have anticipated. It's exciting, gut wrenching, emotional, and packs a real punch as a kicker novel.

Jill is a tough detective and vigilante. No nonsense, smart, seriously determined, a great character through and through. As tough as she

After reading Bounty, the first book in the Jill Andersen series, I was anticipating the follow-up a great deal, and let me say, it did not disappoint. It's been a long time since a book has been able to hold my attention for any significant amount of time, but I managed to read Blood Ties in a single day.

While Bounty was undeniably good, Blood Ties expands and enriches the world that Cunegan created in the first book, making the sequel a much better, stronger story. All of the characters you me

Cops, a heroine in black leather, and an evil billionaire - J D Cunegan’s Blood Ties has a lot going for it out of the gate. Jill Andersen, a veteran turned cop, is finally beginning to mend fences with her estranged brother when she gets called onto a murder case that sends shockwaves through the entire department with its similarity to the murders that their ex-hero detective, Paul Anderson, is facing the death penalty for. With less than a week until Paul is executed, the entire department is ...more

Well-written and fast-paced with never a dull moment, this engaging sequel to ‘Bounty’ plays out almost like a gripping television crime drama. Scene changes, the realistic dialogue, and flashbacks flow seamlessly. The characters are diverse (a big plus for me), colorful, believable, and likeable—the character of Jill Andersen being as solid as her titanium skeleton. The descriptions are vivid (if not a teensy bit repetitive—there are a lot of eyebrows arching, heads cocking to one side, and “th ...more

I thoroughly enjoyed this book, it is the second in the Jill Anderson series. I was surprised how many new characters were introduced in this book and how they overtook the bigger picture. I felt this book was better than the first, it had more complex story lines going on and crushed my heart when it got to "spoiler" moment..

Very Well done, I cannot wait to read more of this author's books.

The flashbacks worked a lot better in this book, and I liked the way the tension developed. I also liked the larger cast of characters and how well they were handled, since it's easy to lose track. And it accomplished what every book of a series should do--it made me want to read the next book. ...more

Yerssshhh!!! After the mortal disappointment of the latest Castle novel, I NEEDED THIS BOOK. He is himself a Castle fan, sure (can't miss those un-subtle references!) but HOMIGOSH Cunegan ALSO really cares about writing WELL, and this book is evidence of that! The mystery is building upon the foundation laid in the first novel, Bounty: a formidable foe holding the purse strings of nearly every major political office in the city, with money manifesting his influence. Her tumultuous relationships ...more

A fairly well-written second novel in this series. There are errors that should’ve been caught, but I like these characters a lot more now than I did in the beginning, and am anxious to see what’s next. Really like the relationship between Ramon and Jorge.
