Manga Origami: Easy Techniques for Creating 20 Super-Cute Characters
Welcome to the Wonderful World of Manga Origami
Origami masters Márcio Hideshi Noguchi and Seth Friedman show everything you need to know to create adorable paper characters from your favorite manga/anime stories with basic origami folding instructions and clear step-by-step diagrams. In the first section you’ll learn about the paper and other necessary materials, the origami symbols and terminology, and the general folding techniques needed to create and assemble all the basic figures. In the second section you will find specific instructions for customizing each of the characters with their outfits/costumes, accessories, and unique hairstyles.
Some of the twenty projects are very recognizable as Japanese manga/anime characters, such as the Ronin Samurai, Kimono-Chan, Tea Picker, and Shrine Maiden, while others, like the French Maid, Nurse, Baseball Player, and Bunny Girl are more western. Also included are some fantasy characters, like the Fairy, Ori Fighter, Santa’s Helper, and Dragon Girl. Of course, characters depicting school life and summer vacation fun are here too, such as Schoolgirl, Sailor Fuku, Gym Girl, Beach Bunny, Sensei, Uki-wa Chan, Harem Otoko, and Neko Form. All projects are clearly marked with their difficulty level: beginner (*), advanced beginner (**), intermediate (***), advanced (****), and expert (*****).

I received this book from First Reads.
I absolutely adored this book! The instructions were very, very clear and very easy to follow. There is even a way to print the eyes (website included in the book) on the paper and that was very neat in my opinion, it adds to the professional look to a finished piece.
All the possible projects to choose from were very varied and were a good selection, I thought they were all good choices.
This is not a beginner good, it's for someone who it into the subject of manga and is willing to learn or is looking for the challenge of these many kinds of folds and all the many bits and pieces that make a complete piece. Overall, a very good buy in my opinion.

Learn more about the Japanese art of Manga, comic books, and Origami by studying this super fun book, Manga Origami: Easy Techniques for Creating 20 Super-Cute Characters. Manga characters are intended to be adorable, and when you check these out, you will immediately see that they are!
Get some brightly colored paper, learn the basics, including the folding directions and how to print out the eyes, and you are on your way! There are 20 characters to work with, such as Ronin Samirai, Tea Picker, and Shrine Maiden. I find that all of them are extremely charming and interesting.
All the characters you will be making share a common head and body, which is an excellent extra balance if you would like to create you own collection, for learning and for eye appeal. All of the characters are approximately four inches tall.
Got a rainy summer day coming up during vacation? Make sure you have your materials, this book, and some friends to join you. You will all have a ball learning from this wonderful book by Origami masters Márcio Hideshi Noguchi and Seth Friedman!

This is like a fantastic guide for both origami fans and manga enthusiasts! Excited to see how the characters come to life with Manga these techniques. Do you have a favorite character you're most excited to fold.

Crafting these endearing little manga characters was pure and utter enjoyment! Add that to the fact that the instructions aren't the identical twin to a blueprint of the Great Pyramid of Giza and you've got one pleasing leisure ride! If at first you don't succeed, then simply try again. There are plenty of kawaii characters to experiment with. Make it your own! It took me a while but I am 3/4 through the characters (I have peeked at all of them, but not tried them all {yet!}). My personal favorites are the "Neko Form (Cat ears)" and "Uki-wa Chan (Pool/Swimmer girl)".
So, to recap:
To whom is this book recommended?: People of all ages! Younger children may need help with making the characters, though.

I gifted Manga Origami: Easy Techniques for Creating 20 Super-Cute Characters to my granddaughter and she loved it! She is a hard one to please and she liked it so much she posted her picture with the book on Facebook. I am a popular Grandma right now!

I gave this book to my ten year old daughter. It was a little difficult for her age group but she did enjoy trying to make these dolls. The book had great illustrations and directions. Perfect for teens.
