I admit I was sold as soon as I read the blurb. It sounded really cool and also refreshing for an urban fantasy. I was almost afraid that it would turn out to be a disappointed because I had great expectations for this one.
Luckily, I needn't worry because the story grabbed me right from the beginning. I liked Jade's character, she's very motivated. Her karma patrolling the district was also a lot of fun. I was a bit scared about the who ...more

As part of the critique group for Karma Patrol, I got to read this novel before Kate had an agent or a publisher or any of that good stuff.

The main character, Jade, will be familiar to any woman who grew up in the south because you have at least one friend just like her – a sugary-sweet, sundress-obsessed, hopeless romantic of a southern belle who’s waiting for her one true love to find her. She’s also funny, smart, and very good at her job, which happens to be enforcing the consequences for pe ...more

"People think karma's a bitch, but free will is a thousand times worse. At least with karma you deserve what you get."
I rated this book calculating the ratings I gave to its first half (4 stars) and to its second one (2 stars).
It started off great! Our main character, Jade, has got an awesome job: she is a karmic account enforcer. Her job consists into her trying to keep people's free will from interfering with their intended karmic consequences. She goes around town reading people's karmic path ...more

Here’s a secret most people don’t know about me. I hate romance.
Not ALL romance. (You’re still on the hook for our anniversary, honey.) I hate sappy romance. I hate stories where the main characters see each other across a crowded room and fall instantly, hopelessly, desperately, stupidly in love. I like stories with REAL romance, with characters who have flaws and arguments and personality quirks and who manage to make a relationship work anyway. When I found out Kate’s new book was about soul ...more

These are my criteria for a good beach book:
- fast-paced plot
- sassy heroine
- action-hero love interest
- steamy romance
- heart-stopping suspense
- happily ever after
Karma Patrol will be the #1 beach book of the summer. You heard it here first!
This book has EVERYTHING I look for in a novel. The heroine, Jade, is the best friend you invite over for cosmos, and then you convince to spill all the details about her hot cop boyfriend and her insane job as a karma enforcer while you paint each other’ ...more

As an early reader and part of the critique team, I loved the book. As the author's mother, it is clearly the great American novel! Spoiler alert: The sequel is even better, so look forward to more great adventure with Jade!

I was one of the lucky few who got to read Karma Patrol as part of the critique group. It is just plain fun, exactly what I would want to read on a plane ride of a rainy day. The story is unique and fast-paced, and the heroine is someone I'd want to have over for wine and chocolate. Of course, reading the book while enjoying wine/chocolate is almost as good.

I could not put this book down. Every moment that I could spare was spent in eating up the pages of the book to find out what happened next.
Do yourself a favour and read this book. It has everything you could want. Romance, action, life pondering moments, and humour.
I am already waiting in anticipation of book 2!

2.5/5 Stars
That feel when it seems you're the only person who doesn't particularly enjoy the book.
But let me tell you why.
Karma Patrol is not an unbearable book to read. It's certainly a unique story line - I've never read anything like it. But it all felt a bit too convenient. A good book starts with a good character, and although we share a name, I could not find myself warming up to Jade Bailey. I admired ...more

As always, I am stunned by how beautiful the covers are for Curiosity Quills Press and Karma Patrol book cover is absolutely stunning. I love the use of color played with the black, grey and white. Kate Miller has created such an amazing fantasy novel. I'm pretty sure this an adult novel because the characters are between 24 to about 30. This was full of action, drama and romance. Loved it!

I would give this book six stars if it were possible. It has been a LONG TIME since a story has absorbed me quite like this one did. I devoured it in two days and thought about it constantly whenever I wasn't reading.
KARMA PATROL delivers cosmic retribution with a sunny smile and a Southern drawl. With a strong cast of characters and a protagonist you can’t help but cheer for, it is a perfect blend of action, romance, and mystery. The concept is astoundingly original and unlike anything I've eve ...more

I was provided a copy of this book by Curiosity Quills in exchange for an honest review. I thought the concept was one I hadn't run into before and enjoyed seeing how that played out. Despite the romantic aspect of the story (not my favorite genre) I did like the way it was blended with mystery and detecting. The author has left me wanting to see what happens next, so I'm hooked!

Karma patrol was a very unique story with a premise I hadn't come across before. I would say that I enjoyed it but didn't love it. I found myself completely invested and unable to put the book down for the first half but then it went downhill a little bit for me. I loved learning about the different fate divisions and how they worked. The parts of the story where we're focusing mainly on jade and how her day to day job as a karma patrol officer works were really intriguing. I enjoyed the idea th

Yeah, I hate it when I love the publisher, but come across a book that wasn’t all it cracked up to be for me. I really don’t know what it was, but I seriously could just not connect to ‘Karma Patrol’ at all, and yet I thought it a great concept and loved the blurb.

This was surprisingly a very, very good book for me. It was entertaining, light-hearted yet full of wisdom and tons of romance to boot. The wisdom part is a little strange especially in the YA genre where most books are geared more towards lighter reads and just plain entertaining. However, I found this book to have a lot of tiny tidbits of wisdom scattered throughout the book which I enjoyed immensely. For example, the book referred to the fate, destiny and karma division which are three things

I really liked the blurb of this book and I felt the idea was a really unique one. It was good to learn about the different divisions and something of the conflicts that existed within the different members working together.

“Jade knew she was attractive by society’s standards. Her mother had raised her to appreciate the value of a polished appearance. Her carefully curled hair and impeccable makeup, paired with a dress that hinted at her ample assets and displayed her slender legs to their best effect, gave her an advantage with both men and women. I got this book from the publisher in exchange for an honest review. I was not expecting the level of romance that is involved in this book it essentially a soul mate love at first site kind of romance. It isn't what this book is all about though the author has taken a unique concept and given us a rich story full of details, like able characters, and of course romance to swoon over. I was wrapped up in the job that Jade does as a karmic account enforcer, what a unique job to have, i like how he

A hot, spunky heroine who is falling in love for a hunkalicious detective while trying to avoid being murdered by a notorious serial killer? I had to hide this book under my desk so my boss wouldn't catch me reading on the job. Miller does an excellent job of world building, constructing an urban labyrinth of danger, intrigue, and romance. Here is a world where someone like Jade Balley can run around kicking ass in a fantastic adventure while making me wish that I was in on the action, too. The

It is a rare circumstance that I find myself reading a book of such superb quality. I must say, the supernatural is not my forte, but the necessity of reading this book was impressed upon me by a most esteemed colleague. I am not in the least bit disappointed.

I loved this book. The characters were relatable, well-developed, and seemed like people you probably know in real life. I love a good love-story and this definitely left me unable to put it down and wanting to know just how the heroine's fated relationship would develop.
