One day the fog crept down from the mountain and swallowed everything is sight. It was the worst fog that father had seen. Little sister was scared, and mother was a little unnerved. Grandmother thinks the fog wants something. She has all of the family sit and listen to the fog. Father hears the dripping of the leaky faucet. Mother hears the rustle of mice in the pantry. Big Sister hears a crash as Happy, the dog, knocks over her block castle. It seems that the fog is telling them that they have many things to do around the house. Grandmother thinks different. She says that the fog wants music. Grandmother gets out her fiddle, mother dusts off the piano keys, and father picks up his guitar. Big sister finds the tambourine under the couch, and little sister gets a pan and spoon from the kitchen. They play all of the songs that they know while the fog swirls, curl, and billows around the house. It seems to be dancing! When they finally stop for a cold drink the fog has danced its way back to the mountain. The family goes out to say goodbye and thank you. They haven't had so much fun in a long time.
