After A Summer For Scandal comes A Season For Wishes…
Alba Reyes has returned to Arroyo Blanco after six long years away—and so has Marcos Ramirez. Though the circumstances surrounding their parting were more bitter than sweet, their reunion promises to be more agreeable than they expected when a holiday game brings them together and shows them that all they’ve ever wished for is each other.
This book is absolutely amazing, I love this cute and sweet historical romance. This is a second chance romance with a Christmas theme. I enjoyed this short read a lot and it was perfect for the week before Christmas to get you in the spirit.
"She was tall enough that he could look directly into her eyes. They were a dark, fathomless brown, darker even than her hair, and there was something in their warm depths that made him want to close the distance between them until nothing—not even the smallest particle of air—stood between them."
The reason I fell in love with A Season For Wishes is that the book has so many of the things I look for in a really good romance novel. First of all, it's a historical romance (which I love, but really don't read enough of), the book takes places on a fictional island in the Spanish Caribbean and the main characters are all people of color. The book is romantic, sweet, and filled with traditions that you will fall in love with and enjoy reading about. I definitely recommend it.
This is part of a series set on a fictional Caribbean island, and what it lacks in snow and ice it makes up for in sweetness. Marcos wanted to marry Alba six years ago, but she turned him down and he moved away. Now they’re both back in town and reconnecting over an angelito, a Secret Santa-like gift exchange between friends. Years may have passed and a lot may have happened in their lives, but all the feelings are still there. And maybe now Alba is at a place where she could entertain the thought of marrying Marcos, if he still wants her.
A really sweet second chance Christmas novella that reminded me how much I hope the author continues writing in this little universe she created. I love the unique setting—especially for historical romance—and as always, enjoyed the characters as well. I only wish it had been longer, a full-length book maybe, because I’m not generally the biggest fan of the second chance romance trope. I wanted more development of their backstory as childhood sweethearts. It’s understandable based on the little we do know why their romance didn’t work out initially, so this is one of the times when more development would’ve gotten me fully on board. Still, I definitely recommend this author to people who haven’t given her a chance yet.
This a holiday novella set in the imaginary Caribbean town of Arroyo Blanco. Alba Reyes comes home to take care of her mother and so does her childhood sweetheart, Marcos Ramirez. A second chance romance that it’s magical and adorable and so perfect for the holiday season. I like Lydia’s characters, they are all so charming always, and her stories feel like a warm hug.
