Lilly Meratoliage wakes up with no memory of who she is or how she got to the hotel room she's lying in. On top of that, she's wearing a pair of viney, beautiful boots that seem to be stuck to her. After rushing out of the hotel, she feels she's being followed, so she runs...extremely fast. But her stalker catches her anyway, having been expecting her.

Lilly wakes up not knowing who she is with magical boots sealed to her skin. She eventually makes her way to a voodoo shop and Phillipe, a fortune teller/witch of sorts, leads her to find the answers she desires. Is he a friend or foe? I have read Green's work before and have gotten lost in the characters while the story becomes all consuming. We have a girl with some badass skills, short term memory loss and some scary natural instincts. Although Phillipe is slightly creepy there is serious sex ...more

The synopsis on the Kobo website - signed by the author - pulled me into this short read. There is nothing wrong with this novella, but there isn't anything remarkable about it either. Which is a shame because the premise of a pair of healing-voodoo-boots that demand a heavy price from their owner could have been really interesting - but I am not enticed at all to read the next book in this series or the original series that this one spins off of.

Ultimately, this is a light, urban fantasy, nove

Awesome read! Great lead into this series. I love that Lilly gets a story, that although from the other series she was protecting the Dragon Vampire line and things went awry for her that she is a Phoenix from the flames and has her own story to tell. She wakes up in a hotel, not knowing how she got there, where she is or even who she is for that matter. She is already fighting for her life and she doesn't even know it. She has these unique boots that do not want to come off, she doesn't remembe ...more

Arc book

This was give to me to read as a arc book and for a honest opinion. I really enjoyed this story and I love how her boots gaver something and she gave them something. Even with her memory lose she can be very smart and can't kick butt. If your into mystery action with supernatural this is your book to read.
