Teaching Christ's Children About Feeling Angry
Does your child have trouble expressing their anger? Do they call names when angry or hit when mad? Teaching Christ's Children about Feeling Angry helps children understand and manage the difficult emotion of anger from a biblical perspective. Once again, Corine Hyman breaks down what the Bible says in a way that children can understand. Like all of Corine's books, Teaching Christ's Children About Feeling Angry is designed to speak directly to the child, and acts as a discussion starter for children and adults to use together.

The Power Is Within The Heart
From tantrums to yelling, rage is a big powerful emotion that children try to understand. This book through the The words of God; delivers the Christian guidance as a positive aid for children. There are many children who have the anger issue and one of them is my nephew. I recommend reading this book

Everyone gets angry sometimes, child or adult. But understanding anger—how it feels, why we feel it, and what to do about it—is a concept we all too frequently fail to grasp. Corine Hyman’s nicely illustrated picture book makes this scary feeling honestly important and controllable—a valuable lesson for many adults as well as children. The text offers a pleasingly simple assessment of why God gives us the feeling of anger and what we should do with it. Simple examples, that children will quickly relate to, offer sensible advice. And bright-colored images will keep any child’s attention.
The author chooses a nice selection of Bible verses to strengthen her case, sprinkling them naturally throughout the text, highlighting them pleasingly in text boxes, and listing them conveniently at the end. Readers don’t need to be Bible readers though. The advice is eminently practical rather than spiritual. And the lessons are nicely taught.
My only complaint is that (in the version I read) the pictures, which I really like, are occasionally stretched or shrunk on the page. The characters are surprisingly recognizable though, in every image and every emotion, giving the book a very lively convincing feel. Young children, at home or in church, might even be inspired to look in a mirror and find out how they look when they’re angry.
Disclosure: I was given a free ecopy and I offer my honest review.

What a great little book!
All children get angry and don't know how to deal with their feelings, this book really helps to explain to kids how to do so.
Through quotes from scripture and colorful illustrations, this explores what causes anger, that its okay and what to do about it.
I enjoyed reading this book to my young son and I could tell he took away a new perspective on what to do when he had those feelings.

Why I am angry?
Great book explaining children that it is ok to feel angry and I found the explanation as to what they should do to 'calm down' very helpful. There are also quotes from the Bible to support the advice given.

I do love the way this story teaches children that anger is a normal and natural feeling, but it needs to be controlled. Each page has a nice illustration and has a scripture from the New Living Translation Bible to go along with the thought. The writing is on a child's level, which makes it easy to relate to and I thought it was done in a way that can open up great discussions between a parent and a child.
I am Christan, but I use a different translation of the Bible. I do think this is a great way to help a child learn to control feelings in a way that Christ would do, as we are all God's children and need to be treated as such. There are some scriptures listed at the end of the book that would be good for a family to memorize. I think those could be helpful for a child who struggles with anger, to help remind him or her the value of self-control.

Great little book
This book is written from a child's point of view, which makes it oh so much easier to be able to say "let's read this"
Hyman brings practical daily use, Bible Verses and an easy to read format to help children understand that being angry is okay, sinning while we are angry is not.
Teaching Christ's Children about Feeling Angry, while the title implies it is for Christians only, gives extremely great common advice for anyone. Not just Christians. This is the only thing I do not like about the book. To me, the title excludes some children. Even though we are all children of God, someone who has never read the Bible could interpret this title to say "not me"
I know that isn't what Hyman wanted or is saying.
So for me, I love the content of the book and think the title needs work!

Corine Hyman teaches children how to deal with the very normal emotion, anger. This book explores common situations that children face everyday like sharing, hitting and sibling rivalry. "Teaching Christ's Children about Feeling Angry" is a tool that a child can use to assist them in making better choices in dealing with these situations. This book also assures children that what they are feeling is normal, yet there is better ways to deal with anger than through physical contact. This is a great book for school age children. My five year old son has difficulty controlling his anger. We read this book together, thinking of examples where he has hit while angry and how the options discussed in this book would create a better outcomes.

I think parents will appreciate the simple way this book can help them talk to their children about handling anger. Children will learn why God gave us this emotion, common reasons we experience it, and how the Bible says we should handle it. I like the included Scripture verses and the suggestion that families memorize them together. Children will enjoy the bright, colorful illustrations.
