Helena wants to die, but when a vampire tries to take her life she instinctively unleashes a mysterious, deadly power she never knew she had.
When Danizriel — an angel — arrives on the scene, he's puzzled to find Helena alive and the vampire dead. Intrigued, he shelters her and together they discover that she has become something neither of them expected.
Their growing attraction is soon threatened when news of Helena's unnatural abilities quickly spreads. She becomes the target of a deadly hunt by vampires and Danizriel is placed in an impossible situation when he is told he must kill her.
With overwhelming forces closing in, Helena and Danizriel face death from all directions. Who will live and who will die?
Melanie Tomlin was born in Beeston, England. At the age of three her family moved to suburban Melbourne, Australia, where she has lived ever since. When she was twelve her parents bought her a typewriter, and she wrote her first novel that very same year. She still has the typewriter, which is somewhat worse for wear, but that first manuscript is now nothing but a distant memory.
Her first published book, Angel's Kiss, was released in 2015. The next four instalments in the 'Angel Series' -- Angel's Curse, Angel's Messiah, Angel's Body and Angel's Demon -- were released over the next three years.
For a change of pace, and something a little different, Melanie also published a book of poetry called Twisted Poems of a Warped Mind and a children's picture book called Lucy Vampoosy: The Little Vampire Dog.
Melanie is currently working on the sixth book in the 'Angel Series' -- Angel's Apocalypse.
Melanie Tomlin had just successfully made a very creative and entertaining story full of surprising scenes that will make you love this book.
As always! I’m a craver for vampire stories. That’s what I came upon seeing the cover. I just didn’t expect it to be so different from the other vampire books, and all I could say is that the author just made me love her.
“In my opinion humans are the only monsters on this planet. As for demons… I think we all have our own personal demons, but that’s it.” – Melanie Tomlin, Angel’s Kiss
This book just tells us how Helena, a girl that just wanted to die, stumbled on a vampire that will only change her life. After what happened to her and the vampire, who died after drinking on her, an angel came across where they are. Not knowing what she was, that angel named Danny decided to keep her and see for himself if she was a threat or not. But, as soon as she discovers what she is and what her powers are, both of them will fall on some unexpected steamy relationship and will face different kinds of dangers and threats.
The author did some twist on what we already know about the vampires, angels, werewolves, zombies, and all sorts of creature we might know. The author had an in-depth explanation of the bible teaching and changed some of the information that we know about it. The author just did an excellent job of creating a much better story out of it.
It’s only a matter of time before our worlds collide and mortals realise that the stuff of dreams and nightmares is real. – Melanie Tomlin, Angel’s Kiss
Sometimes the narration is slow, and sometimes it is not. But, nonetheless, it never destroys the intensity I’d feel with each word I’ve just read. What amazed me more is how my curiosity stays and how it never changes until the end.
“Men and angels think very much alike – shoot first, ask questions later.” – Melanie Tomlin, Angel’s Kiss
Helena and Danny are so perfect for me. They are the characters that you’ll love. Their first meeting is somehow serious, but with Helena’s being a mortal before and having a lot of questions on her mind, just made this book more enjoyable.
I loved Helena very much! I can hardly say that I somehow see myself in her. She’s a hard-headed or what they called a pig-headed girl, but somehow she also manages to justify those actions of her. She is also hilarious and clever. She is so rational in a way that she always thinks about the pros and cons before doing a decision or an action.
Danny, or better known as Danizriel, is so lovable. Being an angel just added more points! When he started to become naughty, all I can say is that I want him out of the book and just be mine. He just made me put him as my top #1 book boyfriend.
“Mortals’ beliefs are so funny,” he laughed, “He gave you the Ten Commandments – which you couldn’t follow, by the way – and ten only, yet you create even more rules to make your lives difficult. No sex before marriage, sex only to reproduce, no meat on Fridays and the list goes on.” – Melanie Tomlin, Angel’s Kiss
I had a lot of fun reading this. The action and romantic scenes just made it more beautiful. This book just made me curious and laugh a lot. My smile on my face never fades as I keep on reading this. One of the best scenes for me was when Helena had some practice time with her so-called friends, and when she attacked those vampires by using her power.
“Nothing is impossible, just highly improbable” – Melanie Tomlin, Angel’s Kiss
The writing style and the way the story moves was just amazing. I know that all paranormal and fantasy lovers out there would enjoy reading this as much as I do.
Disclaimer: I received a reader copy from the author’s newsletter.
I loved the world the author created. Vampires and werewolves born into the world when Satan fell from heaven. Angels with different views on life. And earth bound angels waiting for the apocalypse. Everything was creative and interesting. Unfortunately, I felt like the characters needed to be more developed. I also found Helena's rants and commentary on what was going on a bit annoying.
I thought the story would be more steamy. Helena and Danny form a physical relationship, but none of the scenes are intense. No butterflies in my stomach. Am I intrigued enough to read the second book? I'm curious to see where the story will go.
Sections ridiculously long and drawn out, making reading it laborious.
The action makes you want to roll your eyes.
The redundancy bored me to near comatose.
It had a decent start then died a painful death.
I tried numerous times to get back into it, just in case it was my mood and not the book. Finally realized it's the way the story is written that is the problem.
The action is mostly the heroine running around talking about how she is changing and doing some bizarre stuff.
No real character build nor world build. Just some insinuation to Helena's background and why she ended up on the run.
Sorry, but as you can tell, I didn't like it.
As far as typos/editing errors, I don't remember seeing them.
Melanie Tomlin, or Queen M—as I call her—created a very entertaining and intriguing story that will make you want to live in her books. For all I know, she could be the next Anne Rice, and this book will be the next big thing in theaters.
Angels and Vampires have a special place in my heart. This book has been recommended to me, and upon seeing the cover, I was intrigued, confused even. Why is it entitled Angel’s Kiss when the cover shows a bloody lip? I mean, it shows on the cover that it was a vampire so why the hell is it entitled an Angel’s Kiss? Yes, I judge its cover without reading it just yet.
The book started with a very human scene—a girl who wanted to die—a girl named Helena was yearning for death to come, but instead, she became the death of the vampire who drink on her. And yes, in just the first-three short chapter, the whole foundation of the story has been established well.
When I say established, it had already given you questions that you yearned to have an answer. Apparently, when the Angel named Danny—as he first told Helena—explained to her that only an Angel blood can kill a vampire, and it would also be a death sentence for her, more questions started emerging. Helena, being an unknown entity, Danny decided to keep her to know what she really was.
Danny, keeping Helena was, well, the start of a relationship every girl fantasizes about. Danny—well, he is obviously perfect because he is an angel, but still, getting to know him more seems like you wanted to sin with him. Yes, like you wanted to forget all rationalities left in your mind and go inside the book and replace Helena in his life. Kidding aside, I really wanted Danny out of the book. HAHA.
Seriously, Danny and Helena’s relationship was established by pure curiosity and interest in each other; Helena wanted to know who Danny is, his story and as for Danny, he doesn’t care about Helena’s past or how Helena sees things. Danny accepts Helena for who really she is.
This book was balanced and laid-out carefully. Every detail, in my opinion, has been planned carefully. There is some bible teaching that was tweaked by the author, and honestly speaking (no offense meant), the author had given a better version of some parts of the bible. The author also is well knowledgeable about the topics (especially the Angels and the hierarchy she used. Furthermore, the book is not just about romance stuff, but it has some rich Angel history that you’ll love exploring, also there is some action, comedy, and drama that you’ll definitely love.
You might be curious about how the story ends? The story ends with—well, you better read the book to know how it ends. Salute to Queen M (yeup, That’s what I call her.) for creating this perfect book.
What a really good story. Helena lived a rough life until the night she got bit by a vampire and not only lived, but killed the vampire. When Danny was trying to come to Helena's rescue, he planned on killing the vampire (as he is a demon. vamp, were killer), but found Helena instead. He needs to make sure she isn't evil. If she is, he'll need to kill her. But Helena is not evil. She's a sweetheart with a pure heart. She finds out that in order to survive, she has to kill vampires. When she and Danny team up, there is no stopping them. Or is there? I have never read anything by Ms. Tomlin and I have to say that I love her writing style. Her characters are real feeling and have a back story. I find it rare that a book makes me laugh and cry but this one did. Highly recommended.
I think this is the first book I've had to give one star. It's seriously that bad. You may be asking why I kept reading all 334 pages of trash, but it comes down to two things, being one: it was a gift, and two: I wanted to see how everything would play out and if it would actually pick up at some point or have SOME scene to make it bearable. Alas, it did not.
The writing is so bad. So, so, so bad. There aren't any typos, but I swear this author didn't have an editor. The number of times I came across sentences or sections where the same word was used six different times was unbearable. Somebody, please introduce her to some synonyms. I also felt the writing style, dialogue, and language to be cheesy and juvenile, especially given the fact that a lot of adult topics are discussed. The character didn't feel real because of this, and she lacked any real personality.
The chemistry between Helena and Danny was nonexistent. They did not have any chemistry whatsoever because there was no build-up to make me fully appreciate the reward. All Helena does is give us a play-by-play of her inner thoughts and then suddenly realize she likes Danny. He saves her numerous times, yes, but those moments don't carry any spark to make me root for them as a couple. Circling back to Helena's constant near-death experiences, I found this really annoying because there are so many more ways to raise the stakes and make a story more interesting. There wasn't even a plot, just several info-dumps about the world and lore, as well as different trauma dumps and memories resurfacing from nowhere. It didn't make any sense.
Finding out Helena's mother was a vampire was very anti-climactic, not because I expected it, but because I didn't really care. The author didn't MAKE me care. Also, a few pages after this revelation, Helena is forced into a circumstance where she must kill her mother, and it didn't feel upsetting in any way.
Most of the book was Helena being really stupid and fighting vampires with the cringiest dialogue I've ever read. The line of thought would be so hard to follow because she'd jump around in her own head, which obviously happens in real life but isn't a way to represent someone's thoughts in a story format. My main issue was that this book sounded like it was published by a middle schooler after the first draft, and I couldn't stand it. This idea, if in the hands of another author, could've been really interesting, but the main point of the premise isn't even acted upon until the last 100 or so pages of the book. Incredibly disappointing.

Well it's hard to review a book with title like this...although there was a lot of romance and feelings and little passion, to disappoint those who are looking for a passion book.... She was a very unfortunate person who struggled all her life and always innocent but blaming herself many times because of the situations and people she encountered. When she finally thought her life was about to end it just begun...because of the unusual and rare situation, you might say, rare in all creation...only one of her "kind". An angel who found her, only helped her along the way but she knew instinctively what and how to do. The book is illustrating one rare point, that not everything is black and white and that nothing in the world should be put in some stereotype and blindly following that rule, like so many today are doing. It's good that there is shown how you should keep holding on in life and have always hope. These are all ideas that I saw but others may not agree upon. For the modern people of today this story can be one ,a little different, book about vampires and other immortal creatures. Also when the situation is dire you should doubt your superiors order, if you feel it strongly wrong.
The main idea about this one character is great and a good start has been given in the book but somewhere along the way the story lost it's edge and creative original start, but it all ended moderately okay as a happy ending or just introduction in another book of the series... so it should be good series. There is medium amount of unknown words to an average reader so it's not crammed with to many new not needed words. There could have been more action and her developing and investigating about her condition and some scenes were to short, like the one with sending the messenger with the message to other angel for the meeting. Flashbacks are interesting, but some very sad.
The main idea is great and I wouldn't regret reading it even if the book was worse, because original inspirations are the most important and the hardest to have.
I did not know what to expect when I picked up this book but it had me captivated from the beginning. The author has created a unique character in Helena, a woman whose past shapes her present completely. She has no sense of self-worth and no understanding of what she has become. The story introduces her to a whole new world of angels and vampires and werewolves but Helena herself is something completely new with unknown abilities and I found it fascinating. The book ends on a good note and leaves plenty more for the next episode.
When it started thought this would be one of those vampire partnered with an angel stories....nope!! Main character has had a hell of a life and decided that she is ready for it to end on her terms...but it doesn't go according to plan. Vampire kills her but she's not dead and he is, then the adventure begins! Well written, good paced book...enough details to picture what's happening without being drowned and a lot of action....with a hint of romance thrown in. Great opening to what seems to be a great set.
I really enjoyed Melanie Tomlin's take on angels and other paranormal creatures. I love paranormal books and this one is so refreshing. She draws you in with her twist on how we think of paranormal creatures and the action is nonstop. I couldn't put the book down and fell in love with Helena and Danizriel. I can't wait to see where their story takes them in the next book!
Hands down Melanie’s angel series is in my top five series EVER! The characters have real life faults ,the paranormal actually has normal moments and the entire series draws you in and hangs on! Trust me thousands of books read and I still remember vividly each book starting with Angel kiss how many books can you say that about? Angels,Vamps and oh so much yummy fun!
Angel's Kiss is full of action, and feels like you are constantly on the go. There is enough quiet moments to gather your thoughts, then its off to the next vampire hunt, or training to further Helena's skills, or testing herself to test her limits. Like I said, a lot going on, but very engaging. Glad I read it.
A different type of story about Angel's. Demons and other types of immortals. Full of action and adventure with some inspiring characters and some that are not quite what they seem. A good read from beginning to ending and looking forward to book 2 in this series.
I loved the take on heaven vs hell and really enjoyed the book. However, I wish there had been a little more to the book or more details. Im sure the second book will be good and continue the story but I wish there was more of a cliff hanger and qhat not. Either way still a good book
Idea is novel. Sorry starts well and appears to be heading in an novel direction for this genera. Unfortunately it takes a wrong turn and strays. For me. That killed it.
Was simply brain candy. I loved Danny but seriously wanted to bitch slap her a few times for all her whining. All in all a good story but needs more development. I hope books 2 & 3 are stronger but won't bother reading unless they come up free to read.
Liked it and was annoyed by her constant fumbles. I'm dying to know what happens with them both. Will they make it out and continue to both exists in Earth? I guess I must read the next one.
I enjoyed the plot. The concept was fascinating, a normal average girl becoming something fantastic like she did. I would have preferred less sexual content and was personally bothered by the comments about the Bible having errors in it.
Different for sure. It starts very, very slowly. I was beginning to wonder how many times we could go through that same scenario. It picked up more than half way through and ended reasonably well. It might be a good Sunday afternoon read. I won't recommend it.
I really enjoyed this first in series book. The only thing I wish was that there was a prologue, as the book started in mid action. It contains angels, earth bound angels, vampires, werewolves, and other supernatural creatures. I plan to add the next book to my ear growing TBR pile.
This book was an interesting read as it gave hints and clues to how one could have been taught about angels, demons, heaven and hell. I am sure book 2 will shed some more light on the fate of Danny and Helena.
What a great different take on Angels and Demons. I can’t wait to see what happens to Helena and Danny. Let’s hope that all gets resolved with the Angels.
