This user-friendly workbook
Excellent no-nonsense grammar book for those looking to get into the intricacies of Irish grammar, albeit one that expects a certain familiarity with Irish vocabulary.
Relatively few topics covered, but they are covered in detail; essentially, narrow but deep. I suppose this was done for pedagogical reasons, though it could be for financial ones, too (make sure to buy "Intermediate Irish" next!). The exercises were very useful.
I don't know if I'd say this book contains all the grammatical concepts of "basic" Irish, but it's without a doubt very helpful on the road to getting you there.
A good introduction to many aspects of Iirsh grammar. May be a little difficult to follow without prior knowledge of the language, however. The book has plenty of relevant sample sentences illustrating the points in each chapter. The exercises in each chapter are also very good and have answers immediately following.
