Though 'Merjella' by Yuvaraja is written for kids/young adults, it is a refreshing read for any age group. Merjella can remind us why fantasy is still the best genre to read.

Story started with an octopus Jella, who had ability to become Jellopus (octopus with magical powers). She was living far from her birthright Zypher with her friends. Her life changed when one of her octopus friend went to Zypher to challenge evil Chiro. Her friend got defeated and she was forced to go in hiding. During this

I got the book in a giveaway.
I am all about fantasy and the premise of the story got me hooked in instantly. However, I had apprehensions whether the content would be mature enough. Two chapters in, those doubts were cleared. It is always refreshing to come across such books which you can enjoy with your peers as well as your much younger siblings. Beneath all the adventure and escapade lies a very innocent undertone, which keeps validating your conscience and tantalizing your curiosity. It

This book I will 5 stars because
1. The concept of the story.
The story is a unique one! Um, classic but the concept is rarely found. I never read any book of such concept.

2. Ending at the best time.
Okay, so the ending of the story took at the right place. No messing around the story.

3. Perfect for all ages.
This book will be highly praised by every age. ( At least I find it ) No age limit!

4. Characters!
The characters are very sweet. Even the villain of the story is sweet. All the characters

Thank you to the author for a free review copy of Merjella in exchange for an honest review
There are some books that, despite not written for your age group, succeed in touching your heart. They have this amazing story that just makes you appreciate the genre 'fantasy' so much more. And, lastly, they are the books that justify why reading is the best hobby in the world.
For me, the best part about Merjella was that, although it can be categorized as a book more suitable for kids because of its

There is a world under the water…a world which is full of live. ‘Merjella’ is a fantasy fictional novel about the live under the water. When I first heard about the book I was much more fascinated by seeing the cover page. It shows a beautiful girl having black hair and the body of octopus.
The book starts with Jella, an octopus and her two friends Qwerty and Bingo. Jella’s mentor Mimico wants to fight the evil Chiro who killed Jella’s father Tarjo and took over the Zypher. Zypher is a society

First things first, this is one novel idea to form as a book. The author has put in lot of thought into this book creating metaphorical and allegorical references between the current world problems picturing it in a sea world life of fishes , octopuses and also there comes a few humans who play a major part in the story line.

1) Giving it a 3 stars was difficult- Wanted to give 4 but for few exceptions it

This book is a juvenile fiction, something like Finding Nemo where there is a fish named Jella whose past was safe in hands of her guardian Mimico until she comes to know about it when she is ready to fight back for her family who was killed by a powerful enemy who owns their kingdom now under water. She has two friends named Bingo and Qwerty who would go to the middle of the Earth for her despite their limitation of strength as a fish.

It brought back the memory of my childhood weekends with my

Merjella by Yuvaraja Dhayanithi is a book which is full of aquatic adventure.

In this book, Zypher is an empire created by Tarjo to ensure harmony among all fishes of different communities. It is technologically advanced but it is deceitfully taken over by Chiro.

Jella, the chosen one is now on a mission to save Zypher from the treacherous Chiro. She has magical powers and is blessed with supernatural abilities.

As a Child i was very much fascinated about watching Little Mermaid Animation series and it was the Magic of Disney that keeps the Child in you thoroughly entertained and makes you remember it for very long time. I expected the same even from "Merjella" and it also did quite live up to the expectations. The Story starts in Zhypher, a little Kingdom under the Sea and an Orphan Octopus, "Jella" and her Guardian Mimico and her friends Qwerty and Bingo, revelation of story behind Jella being the ...more

Merjella is a beautiful book as much as I love the title of this book, the concept behind using the name intrigued me. The major characters of this book are Jella (a magical octopus) and Marina (an eminent scientist). The innocent octopus, Jella unaware of her powers saves Marina and turns into Merjella, the Jellopus (Half human- half octopus). Her quest of saving the fish kingdom as Jella turns into saving the entire

My Rating : 4 / 5 stars

Merjella makes a great children’s book. I loved the whole concept behind the book, interweaving the human and marine world the author has made a great effort in bringing out and presenting a beautifully created imaginative world. The author has done a great deal of research related to marine life and has created a unique storyline based on it. The

Fantasy is not my genre of interest. But if fantasy is so interesting, it may become my favourite genre in future. The author is very innovative in his story that makes the reader complete the novel at a go.
The concept of the story is amazing and I really liked the thought process and imagination about the octopuses with supernatural powers. Truly unthinkable one !!!! The cover page in itself speaks a lot. The cover page is bit childish but it can fit

This book is a wonderful adventure. It is creative and imaginative. Simple, yet so very unique and interesting. I loved the fact that apart from it being a great fantasy read, the book was full of fascinating facts and important life lessons that one wants a children's book to entail. I hadn't expected it to be this great after seeing how short it was. Oh, how wrong I was.

All the characters were incredibly placed. The plot was

The book has a uniqueness which hooks the reader to it passionately.
In the beginning of the book when the world of Zyphers and Mimico is introduced, I was very much intrigued to the new concept adopted by the author, the way the underwater community saw a fish capture hook as an invitation to god and how they made their own assumption of why someone was rejected from the 'funnel of God' is quite an interesting perspective. Merjella is a story of a protagonist who is a 'magical combination' of two prtagonists- Jella, the octopus & Marina, a talented scientist in an imaginary world. The book is almost like an animated movie. At a glance it may seem to be meant for kids, but the book throws plenty of heavyweight messages here and there. There are quite a few interesting quotes throughout the book,like-

This will be received well by people of all ages though I can say safely that kids would love it the most.

I have a feeling in my mind that this book will be made into a movie one day and I would love to be invited to the pre-screening. I could recollect my memories of watching movies like Abyss and Finding Nemo when I started reading it though this book is no where related to it.

This is a complete fantasy novel and I forced myself to finish reading it in a single day as it was really compelling

This book is well written and appropriate for nearly every age. Being in my mid twenties, I was worried that this book would be below my level and bore me because it's about fantasy and simply written. This isn't a book I would have picked for myself, but I thoroughly enjoyed it. The

Thank you very much, Yuvaraj Dhanithi for this free giveaway.

Book was magnificently written. Fantasy isn't my type of genre but I simply loved the story. It is a hybrid hero story of an octopus cum human supernatural creature Merjella.

It was very different and innovative, gave octopus amazing facts after a few chapters, had suspense, comedy, description of characters at appropriate places.

In short, beautifully written!

Fun to read with exceptional reality hidden behind those words. Jella's story was not only a phenomenal underwater fantasy but also an inspiring saga of friendship, hardships and the ill-fated society we live in. I loved the entire plot and how that encapsulated the big picture. It's full of magic, inspiration and fallacy and sheer mockery has taken a formal attire in writer's words. So I will recommend this to anyone belonging to any age group and irrespective of that, this stands above the ...more

The story is framed to treat the kids and thus the short messages of loyalty in the form of Mimico, the message of friendship in the form of Bingo and Qwerty and the message of touching our target in the form of Jella are shown in the book. The book teaches us that villains are often seen to be equipped with, treachery and fall-means. But at the end nothing works. The message is nice and the entire book surely touches its finish line, neatly.
