This was a suspenseful read and edge of your seat read. You didn’t know what was coming next for Amelia and Kellie.

One of the things I first noted in book one, NOT FORGOTTEN (no formal review, but another 4-star title), was that the scenes play out like a silent movie -- something that carried through into this second story in the HARBOUR BAY series. Where the previous opens with a very brutal scene in young Hallie's life, this book opens with Darryl and his partner, Amelia, on a crime scene. The scene is graphically described to the reader, but the one thing that was missing for me was the sound. Yes, the a ...more

"Open wounds never heal."

While this book could certainly be read as a stand alone, I would suggest reading the first one because those charcters are mentioned in this book, even though they aren't the focus.

Open Wounds focuses around Darryl, Matt's old partner, and his relationship with Kellie, the IA Agent. There is also a sorted past between Kellie and the female Detective, Amelia. Kellie has to attach herself to Amelia and basically judge and notate her every move, behavior and ac

This series is so good and just got better as cops fall, and fall hard, whilst still trying to keep the city safe.

Amelia Donovan, sassy and tough female detective, has a complaint brought against her by a suspect who tried to kill her. In steps Internal Affairs and Kellie who has to decide if Amelia's behaviour and actions were justified. Amelia and Kellie have a past together: one that didn't end well. Whilst things heat up between Amelia's partner, Darryl, and Kellie, this is so mu

4 Stars ★★★★☆

A suspenseful story with romance, friendship and facing the past. Well written. It was a bit slow paced for my taste, but the characters grew on me and I found it hard to put the book down.

Meet the characters:

Amelia and Kellie are childhood friends who grew apart after a horrible event.

Darryl Hill is Amelia's partner. He is a man dedicated to his work, he has good work ethic and is loyal to a fault.

About the story:

After a complaint is filed against Amelia by a suspect who tried to k

Donovan is a good cop and is sure to be the next one in charge, but when a suspect accuses her of being too free with her fists (even though he came at her with a knife!) then she becomes a case for Internal Affairs. Kellie is given her case even though there is a personal history between them. As the story progresses, you learn about just what happened that came between Kellie and Donovan's friendship, as well as what gave them both the impetus to move forward and make something of themselves i ...more

This series is crime fiction and mystery as its best! I love Camille's writing style and the way she takes her time telling the story but hits you with suspense at a rapid fire pace all the same. There was a lot of build up in this book, and as a reader who wants to sink my teeth into a story and find it believable, I appreciated that. I enjoy coming back to old characters and I loved how they developed in this book. There's even some romance for all the romance fans! Camille is quickly becoming ...more
