The book gives a good overview of the philosophy of religion and its history from 1700 onwards. It discusses most of the important figures in Western Religious Studies and is written in a fluent and eloquent manner. The book centers around the development of the terminology and angle points taken on religion in the Western world, specifically Germany, which is fascinating, but sometimes seems a bit one-sided. Furthermore, I enjoyed the beginning of the book where the philosophical base of Religious Studies is touched upon and the mind-body discussion, as well as the role of Religion in society and politics in past culture and society is discussed. I think the quality of this juxtaposition loses its glamour in the last chapters and could have made a better conclusion in line with the implications on current outcomes and situations in social and political life.
