What have Alex and Landon gotten themselves into? Alex has unknown ghosts from her past and she is a mental and emotional disaster, all she knows is no matter how much she and Landon care for each other, no matter how well they fit together, she has broken pieces that need to be mended. Alex has a past to try to remember. Meanwhile Landon has never been so sure of his feelings and his need for Alex, but there is something being held over his head from his past and he is a prisoner to another. As they say, the plot thickens as these two find deeper feelings, more trust and more vulnerability to each other.

Alexa has told Landon about the accident, about her ghosts, but Landon is still keeping something HUGE from Alexa, will their pilgrimage to New York bring them closer or will fate bring them to a brutal end? Stay tuned as one of the most dramatic cliffhangers EVER grabs you by the throat, once again!

Ella Miles has a gift for words, and every page is filled with high energy, high tension, high emotion and addictive drama, not to mention the sizzling connection that rolls off Alex and Landon’s dark proclivities! Aligned: Volume II is not an afterthought to the first volume, it is at least its equal, if not better! The author has Volume III coming soon and it is a full novel, so I am catching up on my sleep now!

I received this copy from the author, Ella Miles in exchange for my honest review. We have no other connections.

3.5 stars!! That cliffhanger though...

I'm not even sure what is going to happen. Alexa and Landon were quick-stepping their way to a HEA, but that ending definitely threw a monkey wrench in their plans. I still haven't really connected to these characters, but the mystery surrounding them is enough to keep them reading. And I love the clues left in the preface to each chapter.

I thought book 1 was really good, but this one stepped it up a lot. I am loving watching Alexa and Landon grow and fall in love. And the mystery around them is so interesting and keeps you wondering what will happen next. That cliffhanger was great. Definitely makes you want to continue the series. Loving this series.

One mystery that I am really interested in is what is Alexa really like. We have seen several personalities of her through the two books. When she finally recovers her memory who will she actually be.

I can't give it a number right now. I'm so confused after this installment, I don't even know what I'm thinking. I felt that the first installment was going in one direction, but then this one completely threw me for a loop.

I just don't understand what's happening... UGH!!!!

Many of the memories of Alex's past is wiped out, not even little glimpses come back of what the past used to be for her. She needs to find her self again, find what life was like before the accident. No one better to help her but Landon, but Landons ex circles around like a vulture, threatening to expose Landon's secret. A secret that seams to weigh heavy on Landon. This book is full of anticipation! Soooo good

3.5 STARS

Aligned: Volume 1 leaves you hanging. If you are like me you have to know what happens. Why is Alexa's mother in law dislike her so much? Who is Alexa having the panic attacks over? What is Caroline holding over Landon? I had to know the answers to these questions. Just to be clear I am still waiting.

Volume 2 picks up right where one left off. Alexa is still confused over her feelings for Landon. Landon and Alexa have a connection, it's more than just a friendship, but can it be explored? Alexa is having panic attacks, especially when things get physical between her and Landon. You learn more about her past but not what's causing them. Landon's writer's block has finally broken, thanks to Alexa. He is still accompanying Caroline places, acting the part of her boyfriend but telling Alexa she's just a friend. There is something he is hiding but won't confess regarding that situation.

I am enjoying the way the story is playing out. My only complaint is the insta-love was inevitable but I still wanted more build up between them, before the I love you's were being thrown around. The ending has me needing the next volume ASAP!

****4 Stars****

This is the 2nd in the Volumes 1-4, which I suggest to read the 1st one as this takes off where we left in Volume 1..

I just loved getting to know Alexa & Landon's story more as we discover that both have their own secrets & demons... Landon in my eyes certainly has stepped up a notch since the 1st one!

The way Alexa feels for Landon despite not knowing her past before her car accident...

"He's my light bringing me back from the hopelessness I felt before" - Alexa

That damn bloody cliffhanger, seriously its a BIG one that leaves me like Huh? What the hell just happened, trying to swipe the page over on my kindle as I need to know!!!

I've been reassured by the Author that we wont have long to wait for the 3rd one which will be around March/April......

*GASP* quite the cliffhanger on this one.. I can't wait for the next part of this series!!!!

This is the second part of the Aligned series and we get to know more about Alexa, but still nothing too revealing about her past even though she's still trying to figure it out. She becomes much stronger and confident in this story.

Landon is struggling to keep his distance and give her the time and space she needs. Plus, Caroline is holding something on him, we just don't know what it is yet...

There is a lot of off the charts chemistry here even though there really isn't a whole lot of sexy stuff. It's just interesting characters and a great plot line!

The plot thickens, literally! A reappearance of a certain someone leaves us in a huge cliff hanger! Finally deciding she might be able to move on with her life, Alexa decides to maybe let Landon in her heart. He screws that all up by showing up at Alexa's mother in law's fundraiser with crazy old Caroline! Caroline adds a great dynamic to the new couple's ongoing issues and I really want to know what she's up to!! This novella flies by faster than the first and leaves us hanging on by our fingernails. Bring it on Ella Miles!

My review is 3.8 stars for the entire series.
If part wise:

When I started the book, I was thinking, if I made a mistake to start this series. The characters from the book were not so good, and I was unable to feel the special connection with the characters. But as the story developed more and more, I felt good about the story & the characters and my interest grew page by page.

Talking about the story, first of all, the characters - all the characters had felt pain in their life and searching for a relaxing ground to hold, a hand that can soothe their pain. I liked all the character but at the same time, I hated them at the same time. Throughout the book, there were moments when I was in the midst of liking the characters then suddenly a twist and I started disliking them. I think this is the quality of the author. I felt that I like the character of the story when the author wants me to. For that, I'll give full credits to the author.

Now, story, the story of the series is good, full of life & the special thing 'twists', lots of them. These twists made the story beautiful, interesting and attractive at the same time. I liked how the story developed from Book 1 to Book 5, in every aspect. The twists were cherries on the top of the cake. The pace of the story was also good in the whole series. If you start reading the book, you'll never feel that the book is becoming boring and you are losing the interest in characters or the story or the plot. You'll feel bound in the story.

The way author put down the story, the way author wrote the complete series is much appreciable. I love the author style of writing the whole series down.

I would like to recommend the series to those readers who want to see everything in a book i.e., pain, love, drama, romance, thrill, twists and much more.

Book 2 picks up exactly where book 1 ended. Alex has a reflex memory of somethings but no long term memory of anything before the accident. She can do them but has no idea why or how, like her photography. She's done a professional cover and article layout of Landon. Their "friendship" is describes as friends with a possibility of more. Through a set of circumstances, Landon is unknowingly escorting Caroline to a function that is for Ethan, her husband who died in the accident. Her former mother in-law is truly a piece of work, wait until you see. The push and pull of this relationship and underlying currents of the side characters left me intrigued and carried me through the story to be met with a shocking cliffhanger you won't want to miss. Ella Miles has once again snared me with her storyline and characters making me wish I could read faster to find out what happens next.

we pick up straight from Vol 1, in this it seems a little darker as we are getting more insight into memories Alexa is having (based on the chapter memories), and it makes you think appearances are not as the seem **hmmm**. Just when you think Landon and Alexa find a plateau that suits them they are knocked for six, however I am not going to say why you'll just have to read it to see!

But now I HAVE to get Volume 3 cause this cliffhanger is killing me, i literally screamed at my kindle "WHAT!!" Ella cannot leave this hanging like this, but alas she did **hangs head and sighs**

Alexa doesn't remember much of her past since her accident. Panic attacks over come her and her best defense is to build up walls. Landon doesn't want to be on the other side of that wall, he tried. Now he is trying to break down her wall while Alexa is trying to remember her past. Several people stand in their way of being together: Landon's ex Caroline, Alexa's ex mother in law, and the memory of Alexa's husband whom she doesn't remember. Can she regain her memory and start a new future?

In Aligned volume 2 Landon and Alex become more entangled into each other lives. Landon is holding onto a secret that hopefully will not destroy his and Alex's relationship. The way Aligned volume 2 ended makes you want to through you e-reader through the wall.

The pain and secrets just get deeper and darker. Both Alexa and Landon are a mess. Neither one fells in control of their life anymore. As their feelings for one another get stronger, forces outside their control are working to tear them apart. Can they find their balance point together or will those destructive forces win? With the cliff-hanger this episode ends on, I’m more anxious than ever to read the next installment.

So... This is me, right now:

Having just finished the second book, I am in a state of panic. I didn't realize the book would end in such a cliffhanger and I only have the first two books to review. Thank you, by the way, to the author for allowing me to review!

Now, on to my thoughts. I am doing these two book reviews together, mainly because they are novellas and I read them back-to-back so the story is merged into one in my mind. Now, as you may know, I don't have a very good track record with novellas. I tend to dislike them because novellas often feel rushed and leave me wanting. But this time, I hit the jackpot!

First up, we have Alexa, our tough, haunted, and somewhat broody damsel. She has recently lost her husband, her leg, and her memories. The only thing she has left is her photography career, or what she can salvage of it. A cross-country move has put her in a new place but done little to heal the scars (literal and figurative) of her past.

On the other hand, we have Landon, our lyrical, hopeful, and humorous rock star. His singing career has just taken off but his songwriting has hit a dead end. That is, until he crosses paths with Alexa. The sparks fly in the air and the lyrics soar to the page. Musicians... Yum.

As Alexa tries to find a way to forget remember her past, and Landon does his best to escape his own, they crash into a heated love affair. But all is not smooth sailing for either of them. A controlling ex-girlfriend and career deadlines cause turmoil for Landon and Alexa tries to deal with learning to walk and work again, as well as being plagued by panic attacks and disturbing dreams.

I liked watching the friendship and lovership (not a real word, I know), develop between the two. They need to rely on each other in different ways and it's nice to see a novella where the lust between two characters doesn't overwhelm the story. It's a slow, smooth burn that I can appreciate.

The only reason I give these books 4.5 suns, instead of 5, is because I think the "I love you's" came a bit too early for my taste. I am one of the few who do not think that those words need to be tossed in to show love growing between a couple. The relationship is still too new, in my opinion, for either of them to be so sure of their feelings, yet. Especially, since they are both still hiding secrets from each other.

That ending, however, has left me having a fit. I need to know if the mysterious man who showed up is really who Alexa thinks he is!

In closing...
Great writing and deeply intricate characters. Can't wait to see where the rest of the story takes us! 4.5 suns to each!

**Note** This is book 2 in a four part series. You will need the first book to understand what happens in this one. So if you're seeing this review and starting here go back.

Okay, now that we've got that out of the way...

I'm addicted to these. This one was another short serial type read, but continued on much like the first story in that it gave you some answers, but not all, and added in elements that will carry over into the next book (and I assume book 4 as well). We're still following along with Alexa and Landon as they navigate not only their lives, but their growing feelings for one another. What will eventually turn out to be love, especially with how well these two seem to play off each other.

I loved Landon in this one more than I did in the first. For a guy that seems to be only made to screw around with the opposite sex, he sure as heck shows a different side with Alexa. Wow. Swoon worthy stuff here folks. The way he tries to break her off the fears and get her to really live again well, it was sweeter than I was expecting. So even with the way this story ended, I want more of that in book 3. I NEED more of it lol

Alexa stayed pretty true to the way she was in the first story, but with these baby steps of growth and change and coming out of her shell more. She seems to be coming into the woman she was before her accident and I enjoyed seeing that unfold, both with Landon's help and on her own. This woman isn't a weak willed doormat (which I'm so happy about). She just needs to get past her past so to speak. Fight the demons that haunt her.

One big one in particular (but that would be a spoiler, so mums the word lol).

Overall I enjoyed this even more than the first and with the cliff-hanger ending here, I'm eager to dive into part 3 and see how it all plays out soon.

Fantastic read. Great Series. I'm addicted.

Landon though <3

Wow, again this thriller left me with my mouth open! In the last book I really though Alexa was in love with Ethan and missing him after the accident but I never imagined she had lost her memories and she didn’t remember anything from her past life. But she keep surprising me and being a really brave character! I think going to NYC to find her own answers and face her demons is the best decision she ever made in this book.

I absolutely loved how Landon was incapable of staying away of Alex, no matter what. And we got to uncover another layer from his character: he was an alcoholic and like his dad, he lost control with the drinks, so he stopped. He also pushes Alex to live, to take risks because I cares about her (the best example is their scene in the cliff, awesome).

And what is it about Ethan? Was he a bully or an abuser? I’m so confused about him - sometimes he seemed nice through Alex’ perspective and other I wondered if he was mean to her. I guess I got the opportunity to find out in the next book, knowing he’s ALIVE and all! A really freaking turning point, if you ask me! Best way to end a book!ç

Maybe the only thing that seemed a little bit unrealistic to me was the fact that now Alex is a super woman and knows how to control her panic about her sex encounters. Now she seems to know what she needs when she needs it, no matter how rough or wild.

But other than that, I keep giving this thriller my 5 full stars!
Can’t wait to see what happens next!

Ohhhh things are getting darker....i love it....secrets are coming out from everywhere.
Im really loving how this story is developing ....its really starting to come together..

wow the frustration you feel when Alexa has a nightmare and your invited into a little more of her dark missing memories...just brilliant....Miles is such a tease, i really love it.

Alexa is really struggaling now, her feelings for Landon are clear, she wants him but knows she shouldnt have him....its sad really that Landon cant be what she needs, he just keeps going back for more because he cant be without her.

**All he wants is to help her heal and maybe she can heal him too**

But Alexas demons keep coming back to haunt them both.

I really liked the way that Landon finally got Alexa to let go....and how Landon was finally able to ley his true self show....

** Most people wouldnt think what we just did as love, but it was the greatest expression of love we could give each other**

Now----- Oh My God!!!!!!!
Seriously is this happening?
Just as Landon and Alexa find an element of release and freedom....this happens!!

The ending is Amazing.....Now thats a cliffhanger.....eeeeek vol.3 needed now please.

This book begins directly from where book 1 ends...
Alexa tells Landon all about the car accident and then following her panic attack, she tells him to leave. She doesnt see him for a couple of weeks and she misses him like crazy...
Landon is trying to move on but he misses Alexa with all his heart. He is desperate to have her in his life even if its just a friendship. So after 2 weeks apart, he goes to find her...
After a few heartfelt revelations between them, the situation between them gets more settled... Until more twists in the story cause more trouble!!! Between Caroline causing problems and Alexa's lack of memory, Alexa and Landon decide to try and lay some ghosts to rest, so to speak!!! With a huge twist at the end of the book, what is it all about? Ella has written an exciting novella that with the cliffhanger right there... I am really looking to the next book and the continuation of this brilliant story!!!
Will these two ever get a break? Will they be left alone, without pressure, to be able to begin their HEA? Or are circumstances going to pull them apart, and keep them apart forever?

WTH just happened? Well things just got interesting!

Ok well this ended in a twist that was only expected because I read the premise of the book, however, it left me thinking WTH just happened? No freaking way!!! Definitely moving on to volume 3 (tomorrow of course because books 1&2 is enough for a day) This is why I say “don’t judge a series by the first book alone.” Ok now that Landon and Alexa are getting closer, it’s apparent their happiness is going to come at a price along with sacrifices. There is still a whole of truth that needs to come out. As this story unfolds I have a feeling it’s going to get darker and even more twisted. It’s odd how a couple falling in love can have you liking them one second then wanting to smack them the next. There is still a few characters that will be playing a twisted roll in all this somehow I’m sure, so I’m interested to see where this is going. Volume 2 is still not the best read by far, but it’s like watching a movie... I will judge it when it’s all over.
