Everybody Needs a Hideaway

Rate this book
A charming story about a boy who has a special tree house in the forest, where he and his golden retriever watch the creatures that share the forest and marsh below. Bennett's soft, textured illustrations enchance his story, which is based on his own childhood experiences.

We all do need a hideaway at different times for different reasons during different times during our lives. This realistic story gives us a comforting getaway story with wildlife facts woven in.

Some full color realistic illustrations are full page, others are smaller b&w sketches, and most match the text but need the text for clarification. For example, when the mother leans over to tell Boo Dog to go get Ben, without the text, it looks like he is hurt and she is trying to soothe him.

The read along is unique as it highlights illustrated features as well as the text. Nice story about a boy, a treehouse, his dog and the nature around us.
