"In a world where demons hide amongst humans, some good, some deadly, the immortal Protectors defend the innocent against those that mean them harm, while finding themselves defenseless against the powerful force of love."

Things are not at all what they seem in Atlanta. When the sun falls, the "others" rise.

Emma Blake, a half-demon, risks everything including her life when she approaches a powerful immortal slayer to help rescue her sister from a vindictive master demon.

Emma is trying desperately to save her sister Briana. To save her sister she needs to find and convince a Protector to help her. Cyn isn’t too keen on getting involved. He has too much going on in his world to bring Emma in and help her. There is a lot to unpack and secrets to reveal. I loved learning about the Protector’s world and look forward to reading more!

This is book 1 in the new series Immortal Protectors. The protectors are charged with insuring the safety of innocents from the evil demons roaming the earth. Hot sexy protector Cynden is the focus of this story and like all the other protectors, he has no desire or interest in women except for a quick bit of pleasure. Yet when half-demon half-human female Emma enters the picture asking for Cyn's help in finding her missing sister.....all bets are off. Protectors are forbidden from marrying, unless arranged by the powers that be or they find their own life-mate on their own....which never happens.....or does it!

This series shows some real potential for being a great new series for me. The protectors are very yummy and the ladies agree totally, with demons running around causing trouble this story had plenty of excitement and plenty of hot steamy love scenes......Cyn's brother Kieran is next up in Surrender!

Interesting world presented by McQueen

Don't quite know how to review this. The story is complex with many levels of interaction making it difficult to summarize. Essentially, the battle between light and dark in this world fought between demons of varying powers and immortal Protectors who are specially trained to fight demons and protect innocent humans. As a romance, this book has a Protector meet his fated mate, so in addition to having to play out a battle between good and evil, there's also the need to recognize and develop the mate bond.

The story is well-written, except for English's tricky irregular verbs which routinely trip up McQueen. I did find the heroine's anguish over betraying her future mate pretty shallow but aside from that, the reader's emotions were well channeled. Pacing was brisk throughout. All told, it was worth reading and to be recommended.

Not my usual read but it was an interesting story that was fasted pace. Emma is trying to save her sister who doesn't want to be saved. In the meantime, she thinks she got Cyn killed, the man she loves. Cyn is an immortal who protects the humans from the Demons. There is a lot of intrigue, and treachery. There is also the whole fated mates of which Cyn has to explain it to Emma. As a quick side note, Emma annoyed me but not enough to detract from the story.

Lots of action

The fight against the demons really heats up in this story. Emma who is a half demon needs Cyn to help her rescue her sister who was kidnapped by the master demon. She is conflicted by her desire to save her sister and also keep Cyn safe. But will he be able to forgive her when he finds out who she's willing to sacrifice? A quick to read action-packed story.

A good read

This book was a good read. With a familiar storyline of good vs evil and the author developed her characters well. So except for a few scene errors. A good book.

I was gifted this book; this is my honest review
This book follows ~10-15 years after the prequel. This is Cynden and Emma's story. Emma is irrational where her sister Briana is concerned. Emma believes everything Briana says which brings trouble and attempts to the lives of everyone around Emma - mid-book I really had enough. To be noted that Emma shouts a lot. What is Emma doing with a dagger if she can't aim properly??? I was really shocked when I learned that Blue was living with Cyn as his son. I really liked him, he's really funny and likeable. In the prequel, nothing was said about Rachel's gift and that's a missed opportunity; she's in full swing in this story. There is a continuing story in the back about a master demon called Gerard and his bodyguards and lower demons. I was a bit confused as to why Emma was allowed to see where Kieran's house was. The author prepares us for the next book with Kieran and Wendy. Mystery, romance, suspense, battles, plenty of action and adventure. So far I'm not impressed by the ladies...

This is book 1 of a republished series by H.M. McQueen. I was drawn in immediately by the main characters. Cyn is an Immortal Protector living to protect humans and all innocents from the Dark Fae -- demons. Emma is half human / half demon and finds that she needs Cyn's help. Can she get Cyn to help her get her sister back from the demons without him killing her or without her betraying him? (Which she decides later on that she doesn't want to do.)
Even though I'm not sure what kind of immortals the Protectors are, I thoroughly enjoyed the story. It held my attention with the history, story lines of all the characters, and the chemistry between Cyn and Emma.
I'm really looking forward to reading the stories of the other characters as the series continues and to finding out more about what kind of immortals the Protectors are.
Definitely worth your time if you are a Paranormal fan.

My favorite book of this author so far! The ending was a tiny bit rushed, but if it continues right where it let off with Wendy and Kieran then I'll be ok!
