Miles Kent ran his vintage Corvette off an icy road in Ontario. When he woke up he had amnesia. Horse veterinarian Sasha Reiss finds him and stays to comfort him until rescued. She continues to visit in the hospital and then takes him home when he's released. Little by little, memories return, and they aren't all pleasant. He'd been an abused child in foster care, son of a prostitute who permanently abandoned him at 14. He and Sasha fight their attraction, but become lovers. They rescue two kids from similar abusive situations. He decides to return to FL to regain his memory, but on the way to the airport it returns and he goes back to claim her. Some descriptive sex scenes, relatively good story line although lots of coincidences.
Just your typical Harlequin (oops Silhouette) romance novel. I did give it an extra star as the story took place in my home province of Ontario Canada.
I read this book for the Summer Romance Bingo challenge that occurs over 3 months - June, July, and August 2018. I chose a black-out bingo card, which requires reading all 25 books on the bingo card (I expect this will take longer than 3 months but that's OK). Book #I had to have a character in the medical profession. This Silhouette Special Edition is about Dr. Sasha Reiss, a veterinarian in Newmarket, Ontario, Canada north of Toronto. She rescues a man from a car accident on a remote highway named Miles Kent, who afterward struggles with amnesia. The Ontario Provincial Police help him learn who he is - a Florida resident from Secret Island and a successful businessman but no one knows what he was doing driving his corvette in Ontario, Canada so far from his home. What was he running from? Sasha and Miles are both flawed characters, making this story suspenseful and intriguing. Sasha has a history of rescuing strays and the more Miles learns about his past, the less he likes. The best part is the story of Copper, the Golden Retriever, her six pups, and the attempts to rescue two small abused children. I liked the slow burn of the romance and I especially enjoyed the Canada-Florida connection!
