This is a unique and beautifully written (though really short) story of a couple whose marriage is crumbling under the pressures of life and celebrity, of childhood sweethearts who have lost their way and have to fight to reclaim what they lost.

Julian is a world champion boxer and Natalia is a rising movie star. Married for nine years, and together for 12, we meet them when they’ve hit rock bottom and their relationship is fallin

This was an alright read… good even. But, was it just me, or did it feel incomplete or missing something? I don’t know.

I did enjoy the story prognosis and what it encompassed-- since it was different for me, but, things did feel rather progressively fast and tied up much faster than what I would have liked and therefore ended quicker than I had hoped.

This is a story of a boxer and an actress. Two of which have been mar

Julian Rios has just gotten out of rehab and is doing an interview with the press. When asked about his marriage he lets the papparozzi know his marriage is intact. But then one smart ass reporter lets him know his wife, Natalia is set to file for divorce. He's shaken up but then she hasn't been in touch with him for the last 3 months.

"I can't keep doing this. I'm unhappy. You're unhappy. What do you want me to say? Do you want me to just give us another chance? Well I have.

Starting off it's imperative to point out I loved the premise of the story as it tells what happens once a 12 year relationship begins crumbling. Julian and Natalia Rios started off as frenemies became lovers then husband and wife. Julian, a boxing champion, and Natalia, an aspiring actress have a rich history between them making their love sweet. I loved this and was excited at the prospec

What do you do when the love of your life breaks your heart, over, and over, and over again? Do you walk away and focus on repairing your broken heart? Or do you stick with them and give them their fourth chance (since you already gave them their second and third chances)? This book addresses that difficult decision.

Told in alternating POVs with some flashbacks from the past, we learn Julian and Natalia Rios' love story, which after 12 years together, was falling apart. From Natalia's p

I was very lucky to be able to read this book early! I am a huge fan of Montes’ and have really enjoyed other books by this author. I really enjoyed this book. It was a very different story line for me, one that I don’t think I’ve read before and that was so refreshing.
This was listed or talked about as a second chance romance. It was about a professional boxer and his wife and their struggles. Rehab, paparazzi, careers, and so much more come between these two. Will they get a happily ever afte

I enjoyed the story, I loved the concept of it. I liked the premise. But I didn't have enough depth or character connection this novel had potential of being one of my favorites. If this story was longer it would of been on my favorites of the year list.

Also I felt the characters acted more younger and married for a short time than actual 12 years. And the characters held some appeal, they weren't all tha

I'm a huge fan of second chance romances, so when I read the blurb for The Last Round, I couldn't wait to get my hands on it! While it wasn't exactly what I expected, if you like your reads short and sweet, this book might be for you.

Julian and Natalia were childhood sweethearts who married years ago, but now their marriage is almost fallen apart. With Julian a champion boxer, he lives the wild life full of parties and drinks, and Natalia has finally had enough.

When Julian finds out that the lov

The Last Round is a very quick, light-hearted and sweet romantic read.

I read this book in one sitting and really enjoyed the feelings it evoked from me.

The story follows Julian and Natalia as they work through their relationship after facing a huge hurdle. They are high school sweethearts who are faced with fame, fortune and paparazzi everywhere.

It’s told in dual POV’s with some flashbacks to when they first started dating. I really enjoyed the flashbacks because it gave us a glimpse of who they

The Last Round is the story of Julian and Natalia, high school sweethearts who marry. He becomes a champion boxer and she is an inspiring actress. Fame, fortune and some bad choices by Julian cause their marriage to crumble. Julian’s biggest fight yet is outside the ring- the fight for his marriage. Can they make it work or is their marriage over?

The Last Round is a quick, fun read. I loved Julian and Natalia and was rooting for them to make it. I loved the use of flashbacks and the alternating

I saw the blurb and couldn't stop myself. This story took real life problems and put them into an escape. Montes brought sweetness and levity to the challenges of marriage as well as a hero so flawed and perfect.

Julian and Natalia were refreshing and very self aware. I loved watching them mend something that was breaking.

For a quick read, don't pass this up!

EL Montes’ latest book, The Last Round is a quick light hearted romance that will have you smiling. I enjoyed reading about Julian and Natalia’s story because it resonates so much of what long-time married couples have to work for. Being high school sweethearts, they both find fame in their chosen careers. Julian, a champion boxer who loses his way to wild parties, heavy drinking, and drugs now finds himself also losing the love of his life. Natalia whose career is gaining speed

The Last Round is a second chance romance that packs an emotional punch, no pun intended. Emmy does a fantastic job of portraying this romance to top all romances, when she introduces us to Julian and Natalia. Their story is primarily told in the present, but does include some flashbacks that help to stress the incredible connection that they have with each other, and have had for 12 years.

It wasn't instalove or instalust for these two, they actually disliked each other quite a bit when they fi

“I loved you then. I love you now. I will love you always.”

What a beautifully told love story about life happening on life’s terms. This was an excellent read about a couple that life simply got away from. Julian and Natalia Rios have an undeniable chemistry, but quite frankly is that enough to substantiate a marriage?

The true make up of a person is evident in how they react to situations where they’ve been dealt a bad hand, where life simply knocks them out. I loved the journey w

I enjoyed this new book from Emmy!
I had been hearing about her new project for months about this story she was working on & as soon as I started it, I was captured in.

I enjoyed Julian and Natalia relationship in this book.

Without giving it away, not every relationship is easy & that is what I enjoyed while reading this story. Both characters had struggles of finding each other again and knowing what they want. The way Emmy developed these characters and brought us into their world captur

I loved that this story was about a married couple, working through their problems. I wish there were more books like this. I loved the characters, and that the story was written in dual POV (my fave). However, I feel like this book could have gone so much deeper into the story. It was very short, and a very quick read. I felt a lot of emotions, but they definitely could have been stronger, deeper. Also, I hope that a lot of the editing mistakes are fixed before the book is published. Overall, I ...more

I feel conflicted about how to rate this one. I liked it ok but it was too short to fully invest me in the outcome for Julian and Natalia. This book should have been longer to deal with all the human emotion about a couple who separate/divorce after 12 years of marriage. We get the high level details - Julian's rise to fame, the partying, alcohol/drugs, etc. but this story begins the day Julian leaves rehab. We get the before marriage but not much of during of the marriage. The themes this book ...more

2.5 stars!! This is a story about a boxer and an actress that have been married for years and have been together since school. Their marriage is on the rocks and this is their fight to make it work.

I loved the premise but for me this book was way too short. Everything was skirted with, surfaces were lightly touched but there was no depth to this story, so much so there was no character connection. This has the potential to be a great story but presented as it is, to me, felt as if only half was

The Last Round is a beautiful story about Julian and Natalia's second chance at love. The longer a couple is married, they tend to fall into a rut. There may still be love but if you don't work your problems out by communication then you fail and your marriage dissolves into a divorce.

Two months away getting sober, two months away getting his life back together, two months without the women he loves, a fifteen minute interview tears it all to shreds.

Julian Rios was just released from rehab, he did the time, made the effort and put in the work to get his life back on track. All he wants is to answer a few questions from obnoxious reports so they can get their stories and get home to his wife. His wife of nine years, Natalia.

Intriguing. Sexy. Cleverly written with a unique story. Emmy Montes’ newest standalone second chance romance is all that, and more.

Julian and Natalia have been together for over a decade and married for most of them. High School sweethearts, they have thought nothing could be stronger than their love, nothing could destroy them. Sadly, what they didn’t realize in their youthful naiveté is that fame and fortune, something they both desire, will soon try to take it all away from them.

But what I got was a heartbreaking fight to save the one thing that matters the most in this life. True love. When your back is against the wall and you feel like you are losing everything you fight to keep it you fight to make it better stronger. That's what this book is about. The way the stor
