The only thing that makes Flynn Dunleavy feel alive is the taste of his own blood. He’s the tattooed bastard son of Detroit’s most ruthless crime leader and he only knows three things for sure. How to hit, how to hate and how to make women scream his name. Until she shows up.
Lilly is the asset. The brain. The beautiful naive pawn in a high stakes game of family tradition, loyalty and intimidation, And Flynn’s father Colin Dunleavy is her fiancé.
The day she tumbles into his world, Flynn stands by as his father greets her with a bloody lip and an indifferent smile. And for the first time in his life Flynn feels something. A thump in his chest, a twitch in his heart. That day, she became his obsession. His salvation. His ruin. Why is the one person that could save him the one person he can never have?
This is one fight he cannot lose.
HOT. HEARTBREAKING. INSPIRING.
Blazing hot, stand alone romance with a HEA and an ultra Alpha Dominant hero.
Since I was a little girl, I’ve made up stories. I would lay in my bed at night and before I knew what a trope was, I would make up these trope filled stories. Boy sees girl, boys falls for girl, boy saves girl….happily ever after. As I got older, the stories turned steamier and more intricate, but the basics never changed.
Now, my books are still full of romance but the naughty bits are naughtier, my hero’s are obsessed alpha types and my heroines are quirky, real women who come in all shapes and sizes.
So, sit back, banish the real world and get lost in some over the top romance with a heaping helping of hot. xoxoxo
Lily is a twenty three year old mathematical genius that's been forced to marry a ruthless crime lord twice her age. Being practically held a prisoner, she decides to do whatever is necessary to ensure her safety from her domineering fiancé. That means doing what she's told and using her skills to help his company. Everything changes when her soon to be stepson enters the picture and stake his claim on EVERYTHING.
"Love is for the weak, for the pitiful soul with stars in their eyes.
Flynn doesn't care about anything in the world right now. Known as the black sheep in his family,he's grown used to the way his father treats him. His coping mechanism is fighting and that's what his father uses him for. Nothing more nothing less. Seeing Lily changes something inside of him and he decides that he wants her for himself and he's going to do whatever it takes to get her and take her away from his father for good. Easier said than done.
With a crime lord for a father,a longtime family promise and a deadly attraction, this book certainly kept me entertained and wanting to find out what will happen next. I did have some issues with this but I was more intrigued with the plot and wanting to know what Flynn's next move was going to be. Will they get away it? Can love really conquer all? You'll just have to read it and find out.

Flynn and Lilly are both living in hell. Flynn is the bastard son of one of the most dangerous men in Detroit and is forced to fight for a living or be killed. Lilly is being forced to marry Flynn’s father in exchange for getting her mother some much needed medical help and also to join two mafia families in a legitimate connection. Flynn and Lilly are also hopelessly in love.
This book is an epic tale. It has all the angst you could expect from a forbidden romance, all the heat and sexual tension from a passionate obsession and all the twists and danger you’d expect from a mafia romance. This book has it all.
It’s a bit of a dark, depressing story at times and not easy but it is SO worth reading. It starts off amidst a lot of confusion, seemingly halfway into the story and you’re left having to figure out a lot of details as you go along but I even found that interesting. It kept me turning pages to figure out the story and before I knew it I was hopelessly invested in Flynn and Lilly and their beautiful words. They sizzled together.
This book is an emotional rollercoaster. There were characters in this book that were truly just the vilest most evil set of people and as I’m writing this review my hate for them is still burning under my skin. There were characters I absolutely loved and Flynn and Lilly were just so wonderful together.
Push is long but the writing and words were simply just beautiful and all in all I totally loved this book.

Lord have mercy! This book was everything I love and hate in any book! There soft and sweet, there angst and hate, there was so much wounded hero that I wanted to scream! I HATE Flynn's father, like so much so that if I could punch him in the nuts with a sledge hammer I would... Repeatedly... Lilly is so soft and sweet and she really brings out everything in Flynn that I want an Alpha. These 2 people were never meant to be yet, they fit, like puzzle pieces that were missing. As soon as they found each other it was fate. I cried for Lilly. I screamed for Flynn. And once I threw my tablet because I was so angry with Flynn's father. I of course crawled back to it, begging and pleading for it to still work so I could find Flynn and Lilly's HEA and sweet baby jesus are these 2 beautiful together!!
5 sizzling stars from NADBB!! Reviewed by Krystal.
Ok, so I gave this a chance after Force, and it only very slightly got better, only not enough to get a second star. Good luck for me I had already read other more recent books by this author and liked them, else, I would have avoided those and future books entirely. For transparency's sake, I should say I really liked Wrangler and I'm loving the reader's club book by chapters Baby; those I can recommend, Force & Push do not have any endorsement from me.
The story here is repetitively refered as a Romeo & Juliet type of thing, but that's not it, it is more of a "I have a crush on my dad's forced fiancé" kind of thing.
The style is recursive, the same phrases pop up over and over, clichés are not only brought up but copy-pasted every other page. The timeline is very confusing because there's no warning telling you if it is past, present or dream, jumping from one to the other all over the place.
Plenty of steamy spice, and told mostly from the hero's POV, which was uncomfortable to read sometimes because this guy seems very egotistical and self centered (besides supposedly being a generous lover), he keeps pushing and demanding what he wants and likes, and magically she complies to everything with no conversation or adjustment... Very strange! It was waay over the regular alpha-whatever for my taste.
The background story on the mafia stuff was not interesting to me and I could not give a fig for all those side characters and parallel storylines.
The heroine was bland and not well developed, the hero was a psychotic violent freak with a heart of gold (what is that?!?) which only manifests its goodness for her (which is more of a speech of intentions than actual actions).
I've been reading books in English for more than fifteen years now and I feel comfortable as well with fiction as non-fiction books regarding health, quantum physics or the human body. My written English might not be the best at times (too little possibilities to keep it fresh), however, I am damn proud of my passive vocabulary which is huge. But reading this book made me bonkers and doubt my ability to string two chapter contents together After reading the blurb of this book I thought little could go wrong. A hot tattooed fighter, a damsel in distress, lots of angst, drama, and racy sex, what's there not to like? Right? I never got past the fourth chapter because - and I am guessing here - the story doesn't begin at the beginning but somewhere in the middle, not that it's written down somewhere. I had quite a few problems getting to understand what's actually happening, who's who, who is forced to marry whom, who's the villain and who the good guy? How to get into this writing style and keep on going for 300 more pages? After half an hour I was bored to tears and you know what? - that's when I know I have to discontinue. This is the reason why I rarely dish out more than one dollar for a new to me author's work. Sorry DNF
This is the first book I have read by this author and I was very disappointed with this book. I consider myself an avid reader and MMA romances are my favorite.
However from the beginning of this book, I was lost. I felt the author should have had a prologue of some sort. Instead it just went straight into the story.
I am going to give this author another chance, as her book descriptions intrigue me, and she does have a way with her words.
The beginning of PUSH left me a little confused but very intrigued. I wasn’t sure about the players and what was going on. It took me a bit but I kept turning the pages and everything became clear. The story is a bit drawn out in points but its not bad. I wish I would have felt more drawn to these characters because I love everything about MMA fighter stories, mafia, and scorn love but I just couldn’t completely consume myself in the story line.
Lilly is living in hell. She is being held like a prisoner forced to live a lie. She is to be married to Colin Dunleavy, Detroit’s leading crime lord. Her marriage has been arranged and she thought he would be a perfect husband and gentleman but she was so wrong. Colin has led her into a darkness that she cannot claw her way out of. Colin is wants to hold all the cards and Lilly is his ticket to having just that. In exchange for her brilliance Colin has agreed to bring Lilly’s mother to the states to care for her. Lilly is desperate to do whatever it takes to save her mom including giving up her own life.
Flynn is Colin’s son. The son is raised as if he were nothing. He uses him for his fighting skills but being a father, not going to happen. Flynn is a bastard son. Flynn has never seen a more beautiful woman than Lilly. He knows she is off limits. Touching her and wanting her will get him killed; killed by his own father.
Not a bad read and no cliffhanger. Give it a whirl and let me know what you think! Review was provided provide after receiving an ARC from Dani. Thank you! Review will post to Ramblings From Beneath The Sheets.
Wow this was so awesome the story of Detroit Mafia families and the characters are manipulated into useful pawns to gain more power. This is the story of Flynn Dunleavy, the bastard son of Colin Dunleavy and Lily, the bastard daughter of Topher MacGuire. Colin and Lily are part of an arranged marriage , so that Colin can pay off a longtime debt to Topher. The only problem with this is that Flynn and Lily are in love and Flynn is going to do everything possible to stop his father from marrying Lily. Lily is the brain who is developing a online gambling program that is to bring both mafia families into legit. monies. Once this done Colin has agreed to marry Lily and bring her ill mother over from Ireland and get her top medical treatment, once the program is up and running. The story is full of hawt steamy sex between Flynn and Lily. The hate is strong between Colin, Flynn and his half brother Gideon. Flynn and Gideon are pitted against each other by Colin. Colin is just as evil as you can imagine, along with duping everyone. This is so suspenseful that you can't stop reading until done. The is such a dark story that draws you in and keeps you until the end. I recommend this 100%, as a must read.
Holy hell this book is a rollercoaster ride of emotions. I mean there's anger and passion and frustration and sadness and everything in between happening in Flynn and Lilly's story. How much more messed up can your life be when the person you fall for and is your soul mate is the son of the man you're being forced to marry? Well add to that sneaking around with said man to steal loving and super steamy moments which if discovered you could both be killed for in a heartbeat. I so wanted to more than kick Flynn's father. I wanted these two to find a way to be together and I really enjoyed their story.
Shit this was a tough one. I was reading and thought the situation between Flynn and Lily messed up. I'm glad his dad died and a little mad because I thought Gideon needed to be punished. Her should have never followed his father and tried to kill Flynn, his own brother. As tough as Flynn is Gideon better be glad he has a forgiving heart. I really, really enjoyed this book.
This story was slightly better than the previous one in this series but hell, did I still have a hard time to follow it... I have a headache to prove I was, in fact, trying so hard to get out of the maze of confusion. It got to a point I truly didn't give a flying fuck how the story ends.
This review is actually for the Kindle version.....
I was a bit confused in the beginning of the book…I just couldn’t get the players straight in my head at first. There were too many and it was hard to get into, but by about chapter 3 I pieced together who was who and enjoyed the ride.
Lilly is arranged to be married to Colin Dunleavy, a mob boss, who courted her like Prince Charming, but instead brings her to her own personal hell. He keeps her under lock and key using her to code a new online gambling program in exchange for him to bring her mother to the states so she can get the medical care she desperately needs.
When she arrives at the estate, she meets Flynn who is the bastard son of Colin who raised him as if he was trash and only uses him for his MMA fighting skills. He knows Lilly is off limits, but he cares about nothing else in life and will see her one more time even if he dies doing so.
Once Flynn gets a taste of Lilly he knows that she is meant to be his and will do anything and everything to protect her, but with his Dad holding her mother’s life over her and corruption surrounding him, will he be able to keep his word.
I really did like Lilly and Flynn, but at times the story was a bit slow…maybe I’m more used to the stories where everything is suddenly filled with rainbows after one small hiccup, but this is not that kind of book. It was a real dark page turner, where you just couldn’t wait to see what Flynn would do next.
I read this as a stand-alone and enjoyed it immensely. It is a roller coaster ride of emotions as Flynn and Lilly fight for their HEA.
Wonderful story about a man who meets a woman that his father is going to marry –and he decides he is willing to break the family ties to get the woman he loves. This was such a hot, dirty, erotic, emotionally evocative storyline from this author and I loved it!! Flynn is the bastard son to Detroit’s most ruthless crime leader, Colin. Colin is engaged to Lilly to fulfill a debt to her father. Lily did what was expected to save her family and thought when coming over she would be save yet here she comes into a situation rifle with violence and pain. OMG I HATED , HATED Colin, Flynn’s father. I sooooooo wanted to hurt him. Flynn took one look at Lily and he was lost immediately- he wanted her and yet didn’t know how to break free of his father. Lily came over, prepared to honor her agreement and here she sees her new fiancee’s son, Flynn and she is immediately lost. She falls in love and yet she knows it is forbidden. She does everything she can to keep him save and to keep her word to keep her mum and all save back home. My heart broke for Lily, I was angry for Flynn and all he was losing and I wanted Colin to be beaten ..there were so many twists and turned worked into this story that by the end of the story. The love that Lily and Flynn have is so potent, and real that I cheered for them –the chemistry between them is hot and electric. OMG, they are so good together. The ending was awesome and I cannot wait to read another book by Dani Wyatt. In fact, I would like to read a story involving Flynn’s half brother.
My Rating: 5.0 stars *****
***A gifted copy was provided by the author for my honest review****
>I am an independent reviewer. This book is the second in the Southside Brotherhood series and ends in an HEA.
>This book was confusing on many levels. The first half of the book was told in flashback, but the detail and timing was so vague, I wasn’t sure exactly what was happening, what already happened and who everyone was. The nickname, Push, was mentioned once and no one ever used that nickname when speaking to or about Flynn.
>I felt this story was trying to hit everything that is popular right now – MMA, Mafia, Alpha males, Alpha bad boys. All that was missed was a motorcycle gang. When a story tries too hard, I have a hard time getting lost in the story. Flynn and his brother are brought up as mindless soldiers, but when Flynn is in the hospital, the brothers seem to have a grudging liking towards each other. Later on in the story, a fight to the death is in their future and both are OK with that. Flynn suffers a severe neck injury, but ‘pops up ‘ and takes off? All his injuries make his fighting prowess seem very unbelievable, unless this was a paranormal story and Flynn was supernatural, but the story isn’t and neither is Flynn.
>Lily is a genius who cannot figure out a way to skim the money needed to save her mother? He poor virgin victim act was trying. Half the book was hot sex scenes, so I guess the weak plot didn’t matter too much. I wouldn’t recommend this story if you want a little plot with your sex.
>This book is appropriate for an adult audience. I am giving this book 3 stars.
The book started with a bang and didn't go far from there throughout the book. If you're looking for a boy meets girl, they fell in love and live happily ever after with no angst, no drama, move along, this book isn't for you. But if you want to read an Alpha man, fighting desperately to free the woman he loves, settle back in that comfy chair, cos you'll be in for a ride!
Lilly is betrothed to Colin, a 50 year old man who has a penchant for underage girls. It was a "business" arrangement between Colin and Lilly's father. Lilly is doing it to secure medical treatment for her sick mother.
Flynn is the Colin's bastard son. While not loved and cherished, Flynn was brought up by Colin, alongside Gideon, Flynn's half-brother, to be a fighting machine. Flynn barely had a care for relationships, until he met Lilly.
Flynn desperately wants Lilly, and wants to help Lilly get away from Colin's claws. But Colin is not about to give up easily.
Their journey is filled with tribulation. Every step forward seemed to come with 10 steps back. But don't misjudge a determined Alpha male who has fallen in love for the one person he was forced to stay away from.
Lilly is a young 23 year old who has the Math brains of a genies she is very smart but her life is hard and dark. She is arranged to marry a man twice her age in heal the cracks between to families who have been feuding for many many years.
But she doesn’t want to.
She loves Flynn.
His son.
But there is no way out she is being held captive and being made to put her math’s talent to use but she needs to do this. She needs to make sure her mum is safe.
Well cared for.
Receives the treatment she needs.
Flynn is a fighter that’s his job or he will be killed.
But he loves her.
He wants her.
Will Flynn and Lilly get there happy ever after or will his dad succeed in his death?
We liked the book it was ok at some parts we really found it confusing especially at the start once we pushed through and got half way it was a bit better to understand.
Colin Dunleavy is a mob boss who just entered into an arranged marriage to Lilly. The purpose of the marriage was to unite two families. Colin, who is 25+yrs older than Lilly sees her as nothing more than a commodity with excellent computer programing skills. He keeps her locked away to work on a computer gambling program. Lilly puts up with this treatment to ensure her mother’s health and safety. Flynn is a MMA fighter and is the bastard son of Colin. His father’s only use for him is his fighting skills. He is to train and observe what goes on at the Southside gym and keep his mouth shut. Lilly and Flynn become friends. Their budding romance/friendship is a huge no-no. One simply does not fall in love with a mobster’s wife to-be and definitely not your own soon to be step-mother. This was a well written page turner that takes you on an emotional roller coaster. It is the 2nd book in this series but can be read as a stand-alone. HEA
Whoa. I mean....Whoa. D. Wyatt went all the way in on this one and it did NOT disappoint. Push is a modern day take on our old star-crossed lovers R&J with thrilling twists, heavy erotica and the hot dirty-talking dominant H that we love to see in Dani's stories. Character build out was AMAZING and the plot was fast-paced yet detailed and descriptive enough that you feel like your watching it on film.
I don't want to give you all too much doughnut on this review, but I do need to let you readers know....hands down, this was one of the best books I've read all year. D. Wyatt fans will be blown away and if you haven't read her books yet, please stop shortchanging your reading experience...one of the realest writers in the game, getting it DONE right now....a must-read for sure!
*ARC given by author in exchange for my REAL review*
This book was a really complexed book. You have a man and a woman both who wants each other from the moment they meet. But there is a problem because Lilly is Flynn's father's fiancée and dare I say possession. Colin Dunleavy is one mean man.Sorry but he as no soul. He is all about what you can do for him but if you are no use bye-bye. This reminds me of Romeo and Juliet and a really bad way.Lilly and Flynn both have never truly felt true feelings until meeting each other. Then you bring in Flynn's half-brother. His brother sure is his their fathers son.Flynn as have to prove himself since he was little all because of being the bastard child. Flynn as a good talent as being a MMA fighter. I really enjoyed reading about Flynn and Lilly. Colin the father wants nothing but powerful and more money.
I was given this arc book in exchange for an honest review.
This was a bit hard going at times due to the nature of the back story. Lilly being made to marry someone who is old enough to be her father to settle some old debt and bring the two families together. She almost accepts things until she meets Flynn and things she thought she always knew she begins to question. Flynn finds himself alive and feeling for the first time in years and knows that it might be wrong to lust after his fathers fiance but knows he has to do everything in his power to get her away from his cold hearted father and making her his. I love the sparks between Lilly and Flynn, he is your typical dominant alpha male, but his dominance is about loving and protecting Lilly. Good story but for me only 4 stars due to the classic use of women only ever being good enough to be used and abused.
First Dani Wyatt book I read. Flynn is the soldier in his family. Lilly is supposed to be his new stepmother but once they see one another fate intervenes and they both fall for each other. Both families have a pact that was made before they were born so she has been given to his dad as part of the deal. Both know the consequences of their affair but when hearts and love are entered into the equation, they must give in. She can save his family with her intelligence and she can save him with her heart!! Flynn can save her from herself and his father's clutches!! Will love prevail or will family come first?? Great Book!!
PUSH was a poignantly moving lovestory of a ruthless fighter who falls in love with his father's soon to be bride, Lilly. She is bound by an obligation to her family, so loving Flynn is not only an impossibility, but is also deemed deadly . But in the end, love pushes. Love conquers.
What an awesome book! I consumed Push in one sitting. This was a roller coaster of emotions, hot passion embraced with sweetness and angst combined. This is my first book from Dani Wyatt , but after reading this 5 star-read, it will definitely not be my last.
N.B. An ARC was provided to me by the publisher in exchange for an honest to goodness review.
Four Amazing Stars! Lilly is set to marry Colin the leader of the mob. She does this to ensure her mother's safety. Colin is marrying Lily for the sole purpose of uniting two families. Flynn is a MMA fighter and the bastard son of Colin. Flynn and Lily have an instant attraction to one another but she is soon to become his stepmother. What will become of the relationship between Flynn and Lily? I could not put this book down it kept me wanting to know what happens in the end. This is the second book in the Southside Brotherhood Series.
I received this book as an ARC for an honest review. This book was read and reviewed by Annamaria for Alpha Book Club.
FOUR Stars- I received an ARC for an honest review of Push (Southside Brotherhood #2) by Dani Wyatt
I really enjoyed this book, I'm not going to lie but at the beginning I was confused and somewhat lost. Lilly is put into an arranged marriage with Collin, but his son Flynn a fighting machine for his family falls for Lilly. At first it's stolen moments and a friendship, and it turns into so much more. They both do things in order to be with the other that they hate and or regret. With so many against them, every page you pray for a HEA!
Push grabs you attention from the beginnning til the end. Flynn is a dominant male MMA fighter, who knows what he wants. From the minute he meets Lilly he knows he has to have her. Only thing is Lilly is set to marry Flynn's dad Colin. Colin uses her weakness which is her mother to control her. Lilly is a loyal girl who hasn't had it easy, she is smart and passionate. When she meets Colin and he treats her like a princess. Can Flynn make her his and save her from his father? You will have to read to find out.

I was given an ARC in exchange for an honest review. Wow is this story hot! Flynn is the bastard son of Colin. Colin is engaged to Lilly to fulfill a debt to her father. Flynn is drawn to Lilly instantly and will fight for her, even when she tries to push him away. This story has moments where it brought Yeats to my eyes, then laughter. Flynn goes through hell to wind up on the other side with Lilly and knows in order to be together his father needs to be stopped.
Wow, this was definitely one of the hottest storylines from Dani I've had the honor of giving my review on. A very sad way for Lilly to begin her young life but thankfully there was a bright light waiting to lift her up. To have to endure an arranged marriage based on paying a debt several years removed was horrendous. Luckily Flynn was just as dedicated to Lilly. Holy hell this was steamy and at times on the edge of your seat page turning novel. Great read Dani!
This is the first book I have read from Dani Wyatt. I loved it! The writing was so good, descriptive and very heart wrenching! I was so nervous the ending was going to go another way, but I smiled and enjoyed it. Flynn is so passionate and dominating. Lilly is head strong and innocent. They clash and fight against their feelings because it is forbidden. But love conquers all!
