I was up until 1am finishing this book, and woke up at 7am still thinking about it.

Legacy of the Dog is truly captivating, I didn't want to put it down and I had a hard time not skipping ahead to make sure everything was going to turn out okay! I was completely engrossed in the story of Jess and Ty, the brothers, the ranch, the stranger who enters their lives to cause trouble.

Admittedly Jess frustrated me on more than one occassion- she was at times childish and immature, difficult and exasp

Wow! This book was an emotional roller coaster! But in a good way. I was absolutely captivated with Jessie's struggle with the incredible burden of protecting her family from a threat she couldn't tell them about. Her closeness with said family and her gut-wrenching forbidden love made it even more of an addicting read.

The writing was also excellent, the characters well developed, and the atmosphere was so tangible that it placed the reader firmly in this world.

Whoa, Cowboy! Set aside your day because this is one of those “grab your snacks and a cozy blanket, curl up on your favorite chair, and get lost in innocence and intrigue,” sort of books. Jessie and Ty’s subtle chemistry and the “wish I grew up in in that” family dynamics places the readers in the warmth of the Colorado sunshine until the dark clouds form and they watch Jessie’s future and Ty’s heart crumble. Scars from a past tragedy are ripped open and left raw as the Donovan family watches Je ...more

I was very engaged by the story right from the beginning. The characters were well-written and extremely likeable. I very much enjoyed the pace of the story and was completely immersed in it right away. I was always eager to know what would happen next. The tension between Jess and her brothers knotted my stomach each time they pressed her for information and she dodged the truth. I felt nervous about what she would do in order to protect her family. When things finally came out in the open, I g ...more

Not your run-of-the-mill love story. I like that this author explored a taboo subject, and she handled the relationship between Jessie and Ty both tastefully and realistically. I also like that she told the story without throwing in any obligatory sex scenes.

Aside from the romance, this was also a mystery of sorts, and the plot held my attention to the end. There were times I had a hard time putting it down.

Overall, I liked this author's writing style and look forward to reading other works fr

I appreciate a good romance that doesn't rely on the pornographic sex realm.

While some of the subject matter teetered on scandalous, Ms. Beck keeps her characters grounded within the story. The character of Jess was at times confounding and frustrating, but ultimately this was a great book. I loved Ty the most.

This was a warm and engrossing love story. I look forward for more from Ms. Beck.

This book had a little bit of everything.. An admittedly I love angst so this book was right up my alley!! I wasn't a huge fan of Jess's by any means but it didn't take away from how much I enjoyed reading this book. The writing style was great and the author knew exactly how to draw you in and keep you turning the pages. I received a copy of this book as part of the #30DayReadingIndie challenge from Book Enthusiast Promotions.

I was delighted and grateful to receive a copy of this excellent book through Goodreads. I could not put it down. A thought-provoking book, bringing to light one of today's negative societal issues. I enjoyed getting to know Jessie and her brothers, and to watch Jessie's character evolve into a competent and confident young lady. I would have loved the book to be further extended to explore parental response to the experience - perhaps a sequel is in order?

I received this book as an exchange of an honest review through #30DayReadingIndie.
One of the best stories I've read this year. I couldn't put this book down.
It is impossible not to suffer with Jessie through everything she faces alone to save her family, and at the same time struggling with feelings for Ty.
This is a beautiful story. I loved it!

Fantastic read, I thoroughly enjoyed it and finished it off in one voracious sitting. Perfect beach read for anyone looking for something to bring with them on vacation. Can't wait to see what this first time author comes up with next. I'll be on the lookout!

Was surprised at how on edge this book kept me. I became very vested in the characters, rooting for them and worrying with them up until the very end.

I enjoyed The Legacy of the Dog. It was a fairly innocent romance, light on the romance, but heavy on the cursing. There a bit of light suspense. I thought the Donovan family knew how to care for each other. I did find the romance between Jessie and Ty was far-fetched. We are told they love each other, but I didn't feel it went beyond us being told. There was no development of emotions. I think the story would have been just as good without the romance and just had the story focus on the family ...more
