Coming back into the world of BDSM was one of the best decisions I have made in a while. The new series that have come out are amazing, and so are the authors that have created them. Fragile is exactly what I needed to keep the flame burning.
A damaged damsel in distress and two princes in designer suits willing to save her is what you’ll find here. But it’s not a fairy tale. The process that Colin and Anthony take Sydney though to bring her back to life is harrowing and endearing. You feel for her, even if you’ve never personally been through what she has. You want to shake some sense into Anthony, and you also want to burrow deep down in his history. Colin has it together so well, that it’s still believable, and all you want to do love him warmly.
The characters in this book are believable, but the author repeats so many phrases and words that you begin to become annoyed and frustrated with them, which isn’t very fair. They’re typical, yet likeable characters. My boyfriend can confirm that “Oh, come ON!” was exclaimed more than once. The development is there for the main characters, but the b squad gets the repetitive treatment in each scene. You learn the same things about them each time they make an appearance, just with different wording.
My other complaint is the ending, or lack thereof. The book literally stops. There is no wrap up, no cliffhanger, nothing. I guess you can call it a cliffhanger, but it’s not a proper one. After letting the ending stew for a few days, I did find myself wanting to continue the series, which I will.
I think turning over the books to an editor/proofreader would be beneficial, because there were quite a few errors throughout the book. Not enough to be distracting to the casual reader, but to a reviewer, yes.
If you’re into BDSM, pick up this book. Overall, it’s a good, solid read. 3.5 stars.
