Fascinating practicioner written guide to mental rehearsal and the practical, nuts and bolts aspects of mental sports training.

The author is sophisticated. He's done a lit review and includes many helpful findings.

But the meat of the book is the praxis starting from 33% to 66% involving self-hypnosis and mental rehearsal.

The studies are encouraging but for other than beginner readers it's best to skip to that middle chunk of the book.

The exercises are tremendously useful. They focus specifically on gym work, with a nod towards transfer of learning.

But there's no discussion about the issue of transfer to other areas, which as we know is the really tricky issue here. And I would have liked some protocols or tips on that.

Surprisingly practical and field tested book. A pleasant read. Well written.

Take it or leave it. I'll try some techniques but not others. Probably anchors and visualization. I do like his explanation that visualization should be more than just "visual" use all your senses.
