Ignite the magick within, or be hunted in the dark.
Rachel Fallon has inherited the estate of her grandmother, Maddie, and believes she’s finally found a place to call home. That is, until a terrifying experience convinces her Maddie’s death was no accident, but murder. Now, her search for answers will uncover a world brimming with magick, where vampires are real and thirsty for blood.
Nick Hunter has left behind his own splinter of reality to follow Maddie’s killer to this place of disbelievers, where people have not learned to fear nightfall. Despite his difficulty accessing the magick here, Nick is determined to find the vampire and put an end to his madness.
Rachel’s presence is both a complication and an all too tempting distraction, even with the force of the magick she unknowingly possesses. When she becomes the focus of the vampire’s attention, Nick and Rachel must work together to stop him. But as the flames of desire burn hot between them, the truth about the night Maddie died threatens to destroy them both.
Splinter is an exciting, full-length paranormal romance novel from author Rebecca Raine.
Rebecca is a long-time lover of all things romance. Whether it’s a book, movie, or real-life, she will always have more fun if there’s a love interest thrown into the mix. She lives in Queensland, Australia with her very own hero husband, two adorable children and one big, black dog. Other than reading and writing books, her favourite things include loud music, enjoying a glass of wine on the patio, organising everything in existence, and spending too much time on the Internet.
If you like urban fantasy, you will enjoy reading this book. Magic, romance, lust, vampires....what's not to like?
Rachel has always felt like she doesn't belong, no matter where her travels take her. When her beloved Grandmother Maddie dies & leaves her home to Rachel, Rachel realizes that this place is what she has been searching for all her life.
Her father lied to her & to her grandmother, keeping them apart in the belief that he was keeping Rachel safe. When Rachel returns to Maddie's home, she discovers a lot of things about her grandmother & about herself. When she meets Nick, she is attracted to him in a way that she can't understand.
There is plenty of magical elements to the book, as well as some earth-shattering sex. There are several emotional scenes in the book that will tear at your heart as well. All in all, a very good book!
A great read! Love paranormal and romances mixed together. I enjoyed the paranormal aspects of this story a whole bunch. They weren't just swept to the side for the romance, which can really frustrate me. I thought the characters were good and easy to connect to and I also loved Raine's writing style. I'd pick up another book by her in a heartbeat!
I received an arc of this book and am voluntarily reviewing.
This is the first time in reading this author. The story attracted my attention so open the page I did. It innocently starts out as a murder mystery that soon unfolds into stepping into things you never knew that walked. Along that way Rachel is also paired up with Nick who also will keep you intrigued. What was woven comes unraveled with magic springing to life also. Danger also comes calling with this author hitting it all including the hot that comes with romance when fueled with attraction as these two have. I was kept on my toes with it being fast pace all the while keeping me interested.
I didn't think at first I was going to care much for this book when I started to read it, but the more I read the more it was drawing me in. I liked the characters and as I said, the storyline kind of grabs you and draws you along. I also love a happily ever after. I voluntarily reviewed this book after receiving an advanced readers copy that I requested.
Magick, connected alternate realities, extreme sexual chemistry, and sweet romance while still including bad guy butt kicking. This is an exciting book and makes me want to keep reading in this bookverse! I love that both the main characters are so humanly flawed - they have broken pieces of themselves and they help each other heal. It's a beautiful and thrilling romance, without leaving out the action. I received this book free for an honest review. All opinions are my own.
Splinter by Rebecca Raine was an ok read for me. I have not previously read this author before but I would pick up another book by her. This book just wasn't my cup of tea. Her writing style is good and easy to read. I did like the fact that Rachel was a strong female lead. I am sure that others would enjoy this book much more than I did especially if they are into paranormal romances.
The characters are beautifully written. Rachel is strong, curious, and relatable, while Nick Hunter adds depth and intrigue with his determination and mysterious background. Their chemistry is powerful, and the growing tension between them adds an exciting layer to the story. The way the author balances action, suspense, and romance makes the book incredibly engaging.
A crazy adventure full of magic, romance and danger. Vampires, werewolves and Mages oh my! This book won't disappoint you. A fast paced read that will have you turning the pages to the very end.
